View Full Version : QABL - Week 1
yea i know its a week early but this topic has died so im puttin in my 2 cents on 1st round excitement..
Cairns v Mackay;
apparently Cairns is understaffed this season but when you win the national finals by 20 points any team is going to be understaffed and @ the fish tank these guys are hard to beat no matter who they put on the floor... but if any team can do it Mets can but so many questions over their lineup tho. will it be DeZaFitz show... does anyone know who Debas playing for yet or if Fitz is still restricted? this is a bookies nightmare but im putting my money on tried n tested bigfish to continue their 100 game winning streak.. $10 on Cairns
Cairns 2:1 Mackay 3:1
Logan v South West;
a team stacked full of talent with more shooters than the O.K. Corral vs a team who haven't really been talked about much this preseason, if Logan gel they score 150 ppg if they dont one basketball n two hoops aren't going to be enough... but let it rain im puttin $30 on Thunder to start the season on top..
Logan 3:1 SW 7:1
Toowoomba v Ipswich
old school Southern cross grudge rematch neers with seppo v hervey bay with some old guys n 1 good young ippy dude... Hervey bay won the X that year but they had two awesome seppos who sent them broke.. ippy have the names to win an neers didnt look like much without seppo during preseason but they love playin up on the mountain an i think this could be a close 1 so im putting $5 on h-bay sorry i mean ippy to win the 1st local derby..
Ippy 1.5:1 Neers 2:1
Caboulture v Maroochydore
both teams will have a new top scorer this year, Clips have no more ZaFitz Show but alot of junior talent with a little experience from Dunc/Hedges etc they get written off for the wood every year is this the year the predictions come true.. Suns have recruited well with their seppo is he going to be enough to get them over the top in sunny coast rivalry.. my money is stayin with clips but im not betting much $5 say the clips climb up the moutain in preseason will inspire a victory here..
Clips 2:1 Suns 2.1:1
Gladstone v Bundaberg
who's playing for either team i'm not sure i even know, but we all know by now i'm as biased as a one legged table... Power to get the Broome Room jumping and start the season at the top of the table... $100 on us
Power 5:1 Bulls 7:1
Townsville v Mackay
Not sure who Coach King pissed off but Mets have the Toughest Road double in Australia for their 1st weekend.. heat have also been talked down as beatable this year any teams beatable but after playing Cairns night before there will be some tired legs from Mets.. my boy fergs to finally get court time he deserves an score 30+ to lead Heat to victory... $20 on Ville
Heat 3:1 Mets 5:1
Brisbane v Northside
both these teams have improved on last season.. is it still going to Block city at Auchenflower? Trig says no but there are 4 other players to deny access to... i'm not sure who's going to stop Cam but if they do Caps can start with 1-0... this was a toughie but im sorry Suchy im goin with the NBL most improved to be backed up by his team to get the W in this one.. $20 on Wiz
NS 2:1 Caps 3:1
Northside v Gold Coast
the wizards having to back up vs a fresh lizard is going to be tough from all reports GC will tough ask for anyone.. Cam to still get big no's an player of the round but Lizards to join Power at the top of the table.. $10 on GC
GC 3:1 NS 4:1
Disclaimer: to those that are new or just plain dumb these odds have been worked out by a NASA mathematician and therefore 100% reliable at the time of print.. if you feel the need to place a bet look me up on TABNSW...

Since this notice board is always accused of being so bias towards men's basketball i thought i would have a crack at tipping the women's games.
Cairns v Mackay
Cairns got handed an absolute smashing by Townsville in the pre-season but one advantage they have over Mackay is that they have at least had a practice match. Mackay might struggle after the long bus trip up and i think Cairns will come out strong trying to show they will still be a force this year. Cairns in a close one.
Logan v South West
How much will the WNBL team affect what happens with the Logan ABA group. Have bought an import in to held Megan Michael and also picked up Bec Haynes so they should be relatively tough inside. This is where i think they might get the Pirates who might be a little underdone and understrength to start off the season. Logan by 10 points plus.
Toowoomba v Ipswich
Am still dumbfounded that the Toowoomba girls apparently only scored 19 points in a game against Brisbane in the pre-season. With Cockrem back on the sidelines leading the Force I think they may be a little too strong. Ipswich by 20.
Caboolture v Maroochydore
Last years finalist Maroochydore have apparently lost 3 starters from last year in Dallas, Stringer and Page. Unfortunately for Caboolture i cant see that they still have enough to get the Clippers. I think the Clippers will get up but not a game I would be rushing to go and see. Maroochydore by 25.
Gladstone v Bundaberg
Bundy have a new coach. Thats about all that has been said about either of these teams in the off-season. Has anybody got a coin to toss because i wouldnt have a clue. Gotta go with the home team, Gladstone by 8.
Townsville v Mackay
Mackay must be a little worried about walking into Townsville for this one. The Flames smacked Cairns by 79 a couple of weeks ago and Mackay will be tired after a long road trip. One thing going for Mackay will be having Kelly Wilson wanting to try and prove a point after a tense WNBL season. For what will be the story for most of the season, Flames by 50.
Brisbane v Northside
I dont know if either team has changed too much in the off-season so you would have to go back to last years results and think the Caps would get up in this one. I hope this is the case for Brisbane because if they lose this one it might make for a long year. Lets go with Brisbane by 10.
Northside v Gold Coast
Im tipping the Gold Coast and Logan to be the teams this year to maybe try and challenge the Flames a little so i would have to think they would take care of the Wizards. Wizards with a back up game will start the season with two losses. Gold Coast by 20.
Gladstone v Bundaberg
Bundy have a new coach. Thats about all that has been said about either of these teams in the off-season. Has anybody got a coin to toss because i wouldnt have a clue. Gotta go with the home team, Gladstone by 8.
Bundy by 15, now we have a beautIful (hot) new Point Guard from Gosford NSW. Just what Bundy Bears needs a bit of fresh blood.
nagas what crack are you smoking and where can i get some...
at 7:1 give me 10 gorillas on bundy...

Northside beat Brisbane in the pre-season tourny at Ippy, if this is anything to go by, then the wizards may get a win first game of the season. Backing up to Gold Coast might be a problem, but the Brissy game will be close, i think the wizards may get up in this one...

pip they beat us by 46 in the preseason, what us by 17 thanks for the vote of confidence but by would be enough. unless you know something i dont it will be a close game hopefully with the bulls on top. i will always back the team i support and would love a piece of the 7's on offer. would say a better bet would be bulls 1 to 10 how the odds for that nagas if we go off the tab usually double to the head to head price so im guessin 14 - 1 nagas, so i will hade a hunjie on bulls 1 to 10 get on bulls fans

Mackay @ Cairns - Despite the fact that the fish are always tough on their home court, I think they have lost too many horses this season, and will go down to Mackay in the opener. Fitz, Oriard and Deba will all want to get their numbers, and it will be interesting to see how they go together. Mackay by 9.
South West @ Logan - Logan too big all over the court. Logan by 18.
Ipswich @ Toowoomba - Game of the week. Both teams despise eachother, and there will be no love lost here. Reports are that Ippy have struggled to gel thus far, and they may be the slow starters of the comp. I think home court will get the hosts over the line. Toowoomba by 4.
Maroochydore @ Caboolture - The Suns go into the local derby as favourites for the first time in ages. Despite the lack of personnel, Maroochy have the potential for an upset. I don't think it will come however. Caboolture by 8.
Bundaberg @ Gladstone - Despite having a class import, Bundaberg are still in all sorts of strife, and are favourites for the spoon. Gladstone to open their account here with a healthy W. Gladstone by 25.
Mackay @ Townsville - Despite backing up, I'm going with Mackay. Whilst Townie have a great backcourt still, I'm uncertain about their frontline (although Goodwin is in my opinion All-QABL). Wonder how Kruger will be received by the crowd? I can see him bullying a few of his ex-teammates around. Mackay by 6.
Northside @ Brisbane - Few noses out of joint at Brisbane, with their lesser rivals easily having the wood on them for the first time last season. The Caps went and got Bruce Palmer to help stop the rot, but their roster has only improved slightly. Tragardh to have a field day. Northside by 22.
Gold Coast @ Northside - Gold Coast are tough again, shame Toby is not going around again. Will be a very close match, and the only one being played on Sunday arvo. Have to give Gold Coast slght favouritism. Gold Coast by 2.

Predictions round 1
Cairns v Mackay - Cairns are still gonna be tough!!! Mackay have recruited well and full congrats to coach King for that... but Cairns are still gonna be the best drilled team in the league and I feel Mackay may need two balls to share the shots around. Cairns by 16
Logan v South West - Logan are big but have no point guard, expect JC and the pirates to press and press hard!! This will be a good match up but I am going South West in an upset by 2
Caboolture v Maroochy - Caboolture's new yank is tough, excellent shot blocker by all reports, Maroochy are young and will improve as year goes on but give me Caboolture by 14
Ipswich v Toowoomba - Ippy brought it together well in pre-season tourney to go 3-0, where as Toowoomba got smashed by 30 - 3 times, based on that will say Ippy in a close one
Bundaberg v Gladstone - Bundy's import has great numbers but heard he is a basket case off the court, will wait and see what sort of improvements he can make but Gladdy to win by 11
Northside v Brisbane - I am going with the BP and BB factor here, Palmer and Beak back for Caps will equal success, caps by 12
Northside v Goldy - Goldy looked very well drilled during pre-season, they should take care of a tired Northside on Sunday, GC by 5

Cairns v Mackay - Cairns have been brought back to the pack this year. Without their 'stars' from last year they will take a couple of weeks before the rest of the team gets used to becoming the man. Mackay by 10.
Logan v South West - JC will have to get 45+ for this game to even get close, which he is quite capable off. Not gonna happen though. Logan by 20.
Caboolture v Maroochy - Doesn't matter who each team has, these two are so close they all know each other pretty well. Seppo to get 40+. Caloundra by 10.
Ipswich v Toowoomba - Ippi is going to smash the mountain boys at home. No word on their seppo yet. Might not get here before this week. Ippi by 30.
Bundaberg v Gladstone - Bundy seppo to get his 35+ but the rest of the team will struggle to get 20. Gladdy by 40.
Northside v Brisbane - Wizards looked like they had a few problems getting the ball to the big fella during the pre-season games. This might be the caps best chance of causing an upset. Don't think so though. Northside by 15.
Northside v Goldy - Game of the week. These two should be fairly evenly matched. Northside by 2.

If kurt Thompson is playing can't see much changing from last year. Orlick to keep Gureckis on because he is an "import" who seriously doesn't deserve his spot and Kurt will continue to embarrass him, could be the reason for an upset.

Kurt is a talented player, but Gureckis is a solid shooting guard as far as the QABL goes. I seriously doubt kurt will embarrass him.He is a player that can get your team out of holes, and even if he has a bad shooting night there is a lot of talent on the team for him not to be detrimental. I have heard he is seeking citizenship as he has an australian partner, therefore he would become unrestricted.

Kurt not back from states untill week 5, will be tough for south west. Gureckis does not have to do much but hit the open shot and I think he will fit that role perfectly all the other guys will create, should really be a running game from what I can see, alot of quality guards

Piss weak effort from BQ as usual. They should give the previews to someone impartial who'll actually add some balls to what is said .... none of this 'could go either way' bullshit.
ps: I think Gureckis ain't shit either. Jacks the ball and does little else.

so who do you play for? do you even play in the ABA? you obviously sound like you don't know a great deal about basketball. And Who TF are you??
Gureckis is only a shooter and a very streaky/average one at that. Lots of better young Aussie players in the QABL than him. He better hope he gets naturalised, cause he is not getting any offers as an import in this league after his current gig runs out at Logan.
Please tell us why Gureckis deserves ANY respect?? Respect is earnt mate..he's got a ways to go before he earns any respect in the QABL!.

Cairns may be without Vale & Smith due to injury tonight

Smith from what I understand has also hurt an ankle / foot at training and is in doubt for the game tonight

Mackay defeated Cairns by 3
Awesome game.. both teams built double figure leads at some stage only to be pulled back. Cairns without Matt Smith played the smallest I have seen them play in a long time. Dwayne Vale played thru his ankle injury but not his usual minutes and you could see he was struggling.. Scott Cook must have had 30+, extremely solid performance
Mackay.. i wasnt that impressed by Fitz at the point guard to be honest.. he just loves to get it and fly down court and throw up some crazy shit at times. 1st half he played ok 2nd half he was a hell of a lot better. Oriad was solid, had his way at times with the smaller Cairns guys. Deba George stepped it up at crucial times and hit some big shots only to foul out with bout 2mins remaining i think.
was even right til the end when Fitz hit the go ahead 2 with 11 seconds remaining.. Cairns turnover at the other end got fitz free throws he hit 1 and they were up 3.. missed the 2nd.. Cairns get down court and miss the chance to tie.
Extremely good game, Mackay certainly solid and playing a lot more composed in previous years. Cairns with Matt Smith and a fit Dwayne Vale would be another story but both these teams will be around at the end of the year.
Great game to start the season!
14 assists in total for both teams? :eye-popping:
Bring on the weekend, should be a bumper crop of games.
Tough game at the Auchendome between the Caps and Wiz.
Wiz out to a 9-point lead early, but the Caps played some brilliant defence and got back to evens by the end of the first. Second quarter neck and neck with no team getting ahead of the other.
Barty, who was on fire in the first half, didn't return for the second. This left the Caps with a scoring and defensive gap to fill. Tragardh (had half of Northside's points by halftime) went on a tear, and was sitting on 38 points halfway through the period, after going to work on the young trio pairing of Smith, Bairstow and Crombie (all played decently). Wiz started to get out to a good lead, but Shaw and Beaky kept the defecit around 6-8 points.
Caps played tough in the last, and Shaw started to find his rhythm, bringing the Caps within striking range with six minutes to go. As things were looking up, Den Thornton lit up from downtown and put the game out of reach. In the end Wiz by 10+.
Caps defence was great tonight. Barty was their best despite only playing a half. Beaktron and Shaw also solid, and Simon Tayloy/Olsen had their moments. Cam White played some decent d and the three young bigs weren't that bad. Crombie had a nice dunk in the third quarter. Their lack of inside strength could be their weakness as the season progresses, certainly no problem on the perimeter.
Tragardh had 44 or so for the Wiz. Would've easily had 50+ if Dante didn't hold on the ball, to the detriment of other teammates. Diesel was good, and there were decent spot moments from Davis, Kopittke, Seth and Woodhouse.
The women's game wasn't much chop, with the Caps taking the match easily.
Heard from a mate that the Suns won easily in the mens against Maroochy. Bryan Jett was apparently very impressive with some good dunks and swats. And I also see that South West beat Logan .... damn!
Had a quick look at the live scores before I headed out tonight. Good stuff I say! (for those centres who are running it)

Men - Gladstone 111 d Bundy 75
Junk ball in the last 4 mins with gladstone full bench on.
It was the Simanic & Kingma show for the night.
Blair Smith marshalled the troups well & showed some signs of his old self.
Supported by greeny & nagas, when nagas wasn't in foul trouble.
Loyd didn't play. Chapman & Iwanicki still to come back.
Vdog didn't look to happy with some of the Bundy efforts.
Kept trying to find someone who wanted to close out on the shooters.
Cann thru up a lot of shots, missed a lot, started to connect when he got a bit closer in.
The rest tried hard but just not big enough or deep enough on bench.
Bundy women win by 5, Gladstone women missing a few starters this week with other committments aparently. Rumour has it that Gladstone have signed a dark americian big.
Due to arrive in 1 to 2 weeks.
PS. Rumour is that Scott Lloyd is mooving to Rocky seeing he now works there.

What a game! Ipswich up most of the game and in parts of the first half looked like they were going to go on with it. Not to be!! Intensive D and great team work for the Neers - and they came back in the last three or four minutes. Neers up by 7 or 8 or more.
David Gurney in great form! 24 pts and 17 boards - Steve Glover also very strong - some young guys also stood up for the Neers.
Looks like the new coach might just know what he's doin'. Toowoomba crowd certainly know how to support their locals!
Girls not so lucky - had to play without Rhonda Price - :(

kingma with a massive 40pts and 35 boards, simo 29 and 8.
only 20 turnovers in total for the team, thats gotta be half of last years average.
It was a case of the one that got away for the Wizards today, as the visiting lizards overcame a 20-point second quarter defecit, to storm home in the second half and win by 4.
It was all Wizards early on, with Dante hitting 4/4 triples and Trigger scoring at will inside to push the hosts out to a sizeable lead. Coach Haly went to his bench late in the second period, which seeingly let the Goldie whittle the 2-point margin back to 13 by halftime.
Third quarter was entirely Goldie's, with Simmo and Adam Darragh scorching the nets from outside, bewildering all in attendance with an approximate 22-2 run. Northside were simply playing catch up for the rest of the game, with Dante's apparent refusal to defer to Trigger at key points on offense a key factor.
There was an opportunity for the Wizards in the final minutes of the game as Goldie big men Hudson and Waite fouled out, but out of the blue contributions from Ben Dowell then Matt Skepper kept Goldie' head above water. Ad Darragh popped 6 straight free throws in the final 30 seconds to ensure the game didn't go into OT.
No Baker or Zauner for the Lizards, and Anto Olah played very little.
Women's match was all Gold Coast, who went into cruise after a very slow opening period.

Coastal finally put a whole game together, big slim put on a show for the coastal fans with around 35 and 17 boards, he was a monster inside with some massive dunks, just what coastal had been missing, ben mcglynn and rocky ran the team extremely well and everyone seemed on one page for a change, looked like they were heading for about 130 but took the foot off the peddle and got a 117 - 74 (not sure what dore scored), FIRST time in history of the derby that coastal claimed both D-league games and both QABL games, great effort suns, good luck next week with the dreaded double header of Mackay friday night @ home then off the bris sat night Vs Caps, not the best double header to get.
By the way take a pic Coastal men will be top of ladder with that convincing win, haha never been seen before.
Thumbs up to the Suns boys for sat night. Man they played really good, really came together as a team as opposed to past years.
Slim is def going to be a tough opponent this year too. Although I cant wait to have another crack at guarding him next time.
Gotta say, we played fairly poor with waaay too many turnovers. And that big guy, Luke Hedges, shit, he just played like a big pussy! :banghead: haha
Anyways, cant wait for the next game, and hopefully we can pull our fingers out.

Actually Caboolture is at the BOTTOM of the ladder due to problems with the stats :) :) :D
But you are right. Who would have thought that Caboolture, Gladstone and Toowoomba would have been on the top of the table at any stage this year.

I doubt it... these two players won't have that much of an impact in the game... they are both good players, but they won't be able to make up that much difference points wise, and if Coach Cook hadn't played his younger boys the amount of minutes he did then the score line would have been much larger...

Ball in Marlins' court (http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2008/04/22/3278_local-sport-news.html)
Tuesday, April 22, 2008
AARON Fearne hopes throwing his young Marlins into the fire could lead to more of his players making it to the NBL.
Last year, Scott Cook and Dwayne Vale were given extended game time with the Taipans in the 2007-08 season as the NBL club battled with long-term injuries.
Cook, in his first year as part of the Taipans’ 10-man roster and Vale, who started the season as a development player before being promoted to the main list, made the most of their chances.
Both players were nominated for the league’s most improved player award and have been re-signed by the Taipans for 2008-09.
Marlins coach Fearne, also an assistant with the Taipans, has worked extensively with the pair and hoped Cairns’ ABA club could write a similar chapter this season.
Without Aaron Grabau, Gary Boodnikoff and Nathan Jawai – all part of last year’s national title-winning team – with Matt Smith and Vale battling injury and with Kerry Williams and Nello Giordano yet to return from college, the Marlins will be forced to rely on youngsters and previous bit players.
The opening signs are good after strong efforts from Peterson Opio, Curt Ahwang and James Comino last week, as well as Taipans development player Dean Brebner.
While the Marlins lost the opening game 105-102 to Mackay, Fearne said the confidence the players gained would be valuable in the long term.
"That’s going to be massive for us down the stretch," he said.
"(During the Taipans season) we had those guys out early and Scott (Cook) got to play a lot and Dwayne (Vale) got to play and then they went on from there and were big factors for us at the Taipan level.
"I think Billy (Comino), Cameron Witt will get better and Patrick Donald will get better and Curt (Ahwang) has played a lot of minutes before but they’re going to help us."
After a bye this weekend, the Marlins play Brisbane in Cairns on May 3.

The suns did play well and in their defence the dore were missing kenny and tueta, but they will go no where near making up 44 points, suns looked to have let up a little late. After losing meehl and fitz i dont think any team losing 2 key players such as these 2 could be as competetive the following year. The suns played well, with their import slim proving to be a huge asset, while mcglynn and rocky really kept them steady. i agree if cook would have left the starters on for longer could have been a bigger scoreline. the starters sat nearly all the 3rd and majority of the 4th. clips boys will keep their heads up as they try to right the ship. without players and it been the first game of the season, im sure all will be good. looking forward to week 2, teams seem to be alot closer than last yr with not as many blowouts in round 1.

If kurt Thompson is playing can't see much changing from last year. Orlick to keep Gureckis on because he is an "import" who seriously doesn't deserve his spot and Kurt will continue to embarrass him, could be the reason for an upset.
Gureckis didn't play any preseason games...visa issues, stone cold out there on Sat. Team ran so much better at Ippy preseason....WHY?
SW had JC and Vern and Teys looking sharp as ever. Poor Logan... who did they have....Thailo!

Gureckis is certainly only part of the problem at Logan. Serioulsy the buck stops with the coach. What was Orlicks record last year with a Logan team the had 2 IMPORTS? It was woeful, very much like his abysmal record as Bullet's HC.
Lets see this year they have 2 IMPORTS, Myerding another Yank import, and two Bullet squad members in Broom and Amar. They lose to SW, at home in front of a big opening night crowd!
What will be Orlicks excuse this year? Too much talent? Bad karma, food poisioning..ect. The problem is the coach, whats going to happen when he steps up to the WNBL level? Scary for you Logan supporters!

I believed the Guerckis bashing having seen the boxscores and heard everything said on this board. Then I eventually got to play against him and obviously played him for the 3 pointer. Much to my surprise he did not force up a 3 and instead took the open driving lane every time. Maybe that makes me a shit defender but it at least proves that the guy knows when the 3 is not on and to take advantage of what the defense gives you.

STEPHANIE Jones probably won't get the chance to pursue her hobby of snowboarding in CQ, but the new Rockhampton Hog's Breath Cafe Cyclones US recruit is preparing to carve it up on the basketball court instead.
Jones, 27, has arrived in Rockhampton ahead of the Cyclones' QABL season opener against the Toowoomba Mountaineers at Hegvold Stadium on Saturday night.
Jones, who describes herself as "an avid snowboarder", said yesterday she was excited by the opportunity to play in Australia for the first time after stints in the US and Europe in recent seasons.

Not his fault more like the associations that only gave themself 5 working days to get them cleared.
there were a few imports sitting on the sidelines last weekend.. maybe thats y rocky always has the 1st week as a bye give them time to get the imports in an ready.. smart association that one :)
i thought the Neers import was a big white guy?? big solid guy who likes it tough inside sounds like just the ticket neers needed to get them a few extra W's this season hopefully none this weekend tho...
good to see teams in the league stepping up and spending some money, after some of the results last weekend its shaping up to be interesting season..

You must be a very unobservant individual.
Gureckis took 13 shots on the weekend, TWELVE of those were triples (and he only made three).
What were you saying about 'knows when the 3 is not on' ????

You don't have to be observant to read a box score which it appears is all you have done. I have put forward my (admittedly limited but at least from a live situation) experience as an example of how he didn't meet my expectations given the kind of bashing he cops on here from people like you. From what I can tell, the guy can certainly shoot on his day so it's not surprising that he'd back himself to take the 3 if that's what the defense is giving him. Again I can only go from my actual experience which leads me to believe that he is not the mindless 3 point bomber he is made out to be. Certainly likes the 3 and that's the first thing you should guard, but you can't overplay it too much because he's nowhere near as stupid or incapable in other areas as made out to be.

No I shall repeat for the really simple and completely ignorant. Having a shooter on the floor opens EVERYTHING up for others to drive, to post up and as a result you get more layups. I would have killed to have a player of his abilities on my teams.

I'll send you my list of probables shall I???? Sounds like YOUR team talent has been lacking, sorry. OK in your minute world "a shooter opens EVERYTHING up for others....." in Logans case you need "OTHERS"--- Thailo has to do it all by himself. Great offensive AND defensive player, not just 'a shooter'. Do you want that list?

How fortunate Orlick is to have not one but two assistant coaches doing his coaching for him. He is either a very good coach who has trained them both to know exactly what he wants from the team or he is a fake.
alot of passion regarding Logan an there Failure to win 1 i repeat 1 game settle down boys there's plenty of time for you to get off the bottom of the ladder..
a few ppl in particular in hate mode big time, passion for their team or perhaps they simply have no game so they bag out on others who are getting the chance to play when they dont...
