Dear

The Southern Districts Basketball Association will be holding its 25-year reunion on Saturday, 23rd August 2008, 6:30pm for 7:00pm start at the Carina Leagues Club, Creek road, Carina.

Tickets are available from the Association at $50 per head inclusive of meal, beer wine and soft drink. After the presentation we will have a DJ in attendance so all can dance the night away. Tickets are on sale from the canteen and office. We will also have a wall of memories you to visit.

We encourage all past and present members to attend this special occasion. Seats are limited to just 200 so get in early. We are looking for past photos and memorabilia to include on the night so if you have any, please contact Allan Ladewig in the office during normal business hours.

There will be two special 25-year anniversary teams in men and women including coaching staff announced on the night as well as our first ever player singlet auction.

A booklet and DVD will be released on the night to commemorate 25 years of one of Queenslands most successful basketball clubs, which was formed through the amalgamation of the Generals and the Aliens basketball clubs, affiliating with Basketball Queensland on August 2nd 1982.

I hope you can attend and ask that you spread the word so those who made it happen get the chance to meet those making it happen today.

Yours in basketball

Charles Ellis
President

Introduced to the sport through his children and has never left. Managed and fundraised as required and always will to do what ever is required. Probably most well known for his quiet nature and quick wit. Lindsay Burrell

The quiet achiever. His achievements in how he has guided those he comes into contact with to greater heights is surpassed by none. He was the back bone behind one of the sports premier junior clubs and he still does so much for the juniors at Southern Districts.
Ian Moose Gillard

Dave has been with the Association since its original concept. He has played, coached, managed and for a period of time was the President of the Association. The Association owes him an apology that this did not happen many years ago. I guess every time we thought about it he had moved on. Even this time we had to do a huge search just to locate him. Dave Smith

A true local club that supports the complete community. Without the support of the Carina Leagues there would be no SEABL teams. I ask that the Carina Leagues Club convey to their Board and membership our utmost appreciation. Carina Leagues Club

A person who has done it all. Coached , managed, administrator and now a sponsor. Never asked for anything other then we make sure we do it right. Major person behind Wheelies in Queensland for many years. Only 5th person to receive both awards. Barry Barker

Seems to have been here forever. Played as junior and got involved in managing which saw him become part of the Brisbane Bullets premiership team. Always at stadium and known as number one music man in the Australian Basketball League. Big Joe Tertzakian.

Great Teams for last 25 years

Teams of last 25 years

Junior teams have also been named and they are listed in the program which you will receive immediately after the awards.

Explain this does not include the great General players of the past. The formation of the Association brought together juniors and seniors for the development of our sport for the betterment of the community.
