UNLV vs QABL All Stars will be the best game Queensland has all year (outside of the NBL). Why the heck is this not being promoted on the BQ/QABL website??????

Well done to whoever has put it together. That is an awesome side if everybody puts their hand up to play. Who is UNLV bringing along that is worth watching?

I haven't been this excited since Arizona came to Southern Districts.

All star team is pretty much all confirmed, just have to get the OK from a couple from their respective assoc.

Should be 2 great games and good exposure to the all stars and Pirates who play them the next night.

The best player for UNLV is Wink Adams. He was the top rated shooting guard coming out of high school, a definite NBA prospect. A few others to watch are Tre'von Willis, who started his university career at Memphis and Beas Hamga, a seven footer who is still young but plays great defense. We are excited to be over in australia and see what kind of talent we face. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hello from Las Vegas! Just a quick note to say that the guys are looking forward to getting down there.

Coach Kruger opened up the practices to the public the past 2 weeks and there was a great response.

Just to echo the sentiments above, Wink Adams is our top player. Can slash to the basket very quickly for 2 or stay back and pop 3's.

Joe Darger is deadly from 3 and played SF, PF and Center at times last season due to injury/players leaving the team.

Rene Rougeau is in my opinion the heart of the team. He was just given a scholarship today after walking on with the team 3 years ago. The kid hustles after loose balls and makes his share of baskets.

I look forward to updates.....thanks!

What a great event for Queensland but a pity politics gets in the way again.

Lets face it the fact that no Spartans are invited to play suggests that while a good team the standard will not be as high as it should be.

And before everyone starts shooting the messenger remember that Spartans have Gibson from Australian squad, Vanderjagt from NBL plus other NBL squad menmbers in Nasalo and Goulding to back it up. Guys they are sitting third in SEABL.

A game like this should have been played against the best just as Spartans have done in the past years when playing overseas powerhouses by inviting in players from other Associations to bolster the strength.

Any way the show must go on. I just hope that UNLV are not dissapointed by the match up size and standard which will hurt future tours to Australia if they are.

Absolute rot.

The QABL (not SEABL) All Stars will lose absolutely nothing by forgoing any Spartan selections.

If Southern District does not want to support local competition, then they can expect to be left out of such events.

what idiot wrote this crap?
like boss playa said its a QABL all star team.....i'm sure districts would have a player or two in the the team if they were in the QABL but they are not....
support us and we support you.... the reason districts have no players in the game is districts fault, not anybody else's

I agree, what a load of crap. Are you saying that a spartans team would be able to beat the QABL allstars?
Would be an interesting game, I'm sure 2 cents could get me some good odds on the QABL side beating the districts side.....

Here here agreed, if the baby bullets want to play SEABL that means they aren't in the QABL anymore. Hopefully there heads will explode because there ego is too big.

Just backing up the previous comments. If South West have the contacts to put these games together, then good on them. That gives them the right to pick who they want on that team. I think they have done a great job of involving as many South East QLD associsations as possible with that roster and i know they tried to get as much NBL experience as they could when they thought about it. The only player that was unavailable was Cam T.

Theres no politics kids... the players were picked from the QABL! Q for Queensland.....

So bring on the game - i like this starting combo Dante, Shaw, Aucoin, Green , Jett

Really good feature on this event on ABC Brisbane this afternoon..

As far as the lack of Distritcs' players... well the team is called 'Queensland select' so its up to the people involved who they pick in their team.

Its a shame someone feels the need to try and criticise an event because of some sort of sour grapes. I hope everyone gets along to these games to see some great basketball. There's enough bad press about the sport at the moment without someone trying to create another issue.

Well, Qld Select was no match for UNLV last night, but i'm glad I went! UNLV was definitely worth watching!! Defensively they're great and they shot the lights out last night. I heard after the game Wink Adams hit 10 of his 11 shots and everyone else hit their shots it they had any room to move. Adams did a sweet crossover to shake Steve Broom at one stage

Qld select hadn't played together before so there were some messy turnovers and things like that, but a fair bit of that looked to be a result of UNLV's defence. They own the passing lanes and picked off a heap of passes. I can't remember the final score but the visitors had an easy win. Thalo Green and Steve Broom were probably the best for Qld Select. Jason Aucoin got into a 'dispute' with one of the visitors and I think he ended up with two tech fouls in the end.

I loved the fans they have with them too. They just love their team and its amazing to think they've travelled all this way to watch them. They must have 50 people just following them on the tour. I had a chat to some of the fans and players after the game and they're all enjoying the trip. It was awesome to watch them play, having grown up in the era of LJ, Augmon and the Tark.

They play South West Pirates tonight at QSAC at QeII stadium at 730 and then travel up to Cairns. Get along to either game because I can guarantee you'll enjoy watching UNLV play. It's cool just to soak up the atmosphere their fans create and all their players are great to watch and they're nice guys. Sorry if I sound like an awestruck kid, but well, I feel like one! it was great just to see such an awesome team play, especially on the day they announce the bullets were gone :(

Pirates boys went down tonight vs UNLV. Had some injuries which is a shame and were without Verle, nate, bairstow, hustler and lake.

Steve Broom filled in and did a good job but wihout knowing their offence the team struggled a bit. Threw down a nice duk and played some tough D against the rebels. The pirates went down 97-58.

UNLV were very happy with the 2 nights games and well done to all at South West.

I think the ABC was there filming and they might be doing a story. Good to see associations doing what they can for the game.
