Reality check for the boys as they were soundly beaten by SA. Noticed that Corban did not hit the court in this game. Is he injured.?

Qld North powering on with a 4-1 record, looking to topple NSW metro today.

QLD South boys 5th

QLD North boys 3rd

How can North beat south after south filled the top 4 positions at classics in Townsville and no Tod for the north as well?

North did not beat South. They achieved a higher position because they were in a weaker pool. South had to play both Vic Metro and SA Metro (the eventual finalists) in their pool. These were the only two games that they lost.

The twins got a gig overseas so dropped out
Team has aquitted itself well considering all the crap laid on it and the coach ALL season long
Gordon fawcett must be bitterly dissapointed that things have gone so well
Never likely to contend but well done lads
Does 5th position mean that "everythings gone so well"? Why was the team "never likely to contend"?

QLD South overachieved despite the coach. Cant see why Gordon would be disappointed. After Cris Riches mouthing off pre-season that he didnt rate Maroochy at all in 2008 and their coach is past his use by date I reckon he deserves all the crap he gets from everyone. I was one of a number of people at Nationals wondering how well we could have gone with Miller MacDermott Hilleary and Roettler instead of the passengers who clearly werent up to standard and Gordon and Sid Mines coaching the team. Gordon Fawcett won BQJBC and Classics with a team that was supposedly only as good as Gold Coast and half as good as Brisbane if you go by the state team numbers. Sid fared even better getting a medal with a team that didnt have any players of note according to the state coaching staff. How does the teams that finish 5th and 7th at State level account for 60% of the state team anyway? Never known Gordon to be disappointed to see young players overachieve ever. If and when any of you ever equals his winning record and enjoys the respect of his players that Gordo enjoys people might take you seriously. Come back to basketball soon mate.

Just a note to say well done to all of the QLD Teams both North & South, Boys & Girls. Everyone in QLD should be proud of the efforts put in by all teams. Both pools were just as hard with some outstanding games right down to the wire.

The South Boys played well and had some tough games at the end coming away with 5th place. The North Boys pulled it together and played great to bring the Bronze Medal home to QLD. Well Done!!!

The South girls were unlucky not to also bring home the Bronze. Well done girls you played great. The North girls finished the week in 9th place and were improving thoughout the tournament.

So we should be all congratulating these kids on a great tournament and holding our Queensland Heads up high as we had 3 of the 4 teams in the top 5.

Once again well done to our wonderfull players who should be proud of their effots>

Typical bias from the South! Anyone at Nationals will tell you the same thing - The North Team were far stronger than the South at Ballarat with the exception of a North loss in their first game against WA Metro when the North played crap - by their own admission.

SA Metro wiped the floor with Qld Sth by 40 points running their bench for a "lot" of the game. I know because I was there. SA Metro had to play their first 5 for almost the entire game against the North in the cross over semi and just won by the skin of their teeth! Qld North were 4 up with 3 min's to go, it was all tied up with 2 min's to go and the North looked the stronger. Unfortunately for the North Boys SA Metro hit everything from the charity stripe in the last 90 secs (11 points!) when the North ran into team fouls after some really questionable ref calls. Prior to that it looked like the North were off to the Gold Medal playoff & were gutted when they thought they had it in the bag but snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. But thats the way it goes sometimes and the boys picked themselves up to win Bronze.

NSW Metro were clearly as good as Vic Metro & SA Metro but were defeated in the cross over semi against Vic Metro, who as we all know were the eventual gold medallists. Qld North beat NSW Metro in the Bronze medal playoff. So come on mate, be fair dinkum with the facts ey and cut the South bias / ego. The North had USA College and NBL Player Scouts all over them for the entire championships. Lets get real.

Congratulations to Chris Riches on a great performance at Nationals. The team which no one rated won six of eight games losing only to the two finalists

These scouts look at a lot of kids seriously, means nothing at this stage still to young a lot happens in 12 months im sure there is number of ex junior players that will tell you the same thing

Hodgson has been approached by three schools so I am told - even though he spent most of the tourney on the 3 pt line due to the stucture the team ran.

Could be. I was wondering if Hodgson is bottom age or not and the guy Illton? If it is Corben he is also a deserving selection just like Mitch as would be Matty or Louis if they were eligible.

Negative. Matt and Louis are both too old. Both played well though. However I am of belief that matt was selected for the AIS selection camp? Correct?

thats a load of crap, north beat south because north were BETTER!!!! although south may have had stonger teams at classics north definatley had better players. when the likes of jeremy hill and todd blanchfield (aussie team) michael chittham and damen hier (squad) all play in one team of course north is gonna run the show, come on queensland we arent just south. north produce some pretty awsume players. p.s marlins mackay and heat were all favourites for classics just didnt play well at clasics. may i add that marlins beat spartans and heat beat maroochi both the finalist. painting anyone a picture yet.

Yep. A loser making excuses for his failings 6 months ago. The teams who won in Townsville won the games that counted the ones who played on the outside courts didnt. Noones saying the North doesnt have it's share of good players just their teams werent as good. Move on, exciting times ahead for QLD.
