I am going to lead it out this week with a look at all the ladies games.

Big weekend for the girls with 11 games across the weekend. I apologise if I dont put much behind my reasons for picking but there is just too many games to do so.

Logan v Mackay
Can Logan stop Wilson?
Can Mackay stop Haynes and Davis?
I dont think Mackay have quite got the depth to match it with Logan and Logan will ge the W by 9.

Bundaberg v South West
South West to keep there run going and get the nod here by 25.

Cairns v Townsville
Townsville to now hold the longest winning streak in the ABA and get there 39th win.... will get up by 35

Rocky v Gladstone.
Gladstone on a weird away home double with a game against South West on Sunday also. Rocky not really puttting it together this year but are going to be too big and too strong at home against Gladstone. Rocky by 12

Maroochy v Mackay.
Although I think Page has the edge here in terms of smarts as a coach I dont think that they are going to have the depth on the floor and Mackay will run away winners purely because no one can stop Wilson. Close one but Mackay by 4

Gold Coast v Brisbane
Can someone explain to me how an association like Brisbane cannot perform? Gold coast by 23

Gladstone v South West.
Both teams on the back end of a double header. South West in a canter.

Ipswich v Toowoomba.
This one could be the game of the weekend as both teams are pretty average. I think that Toowoomba might just get the nod here though and notch there 4th win of the year and the second of the weekend. Break out the bubbles to celebrate

Gold Coast v maroochy.
Mmmm, Gold coast at home are tough and really should win based on what they have on paper. However, in saying this the team is really not performing as well as they should be and maybe the pressure of being favourites with Logan in the south pool are getting to the them. Gold Coast need the W more then Maroochy and I think that they might get this but only just. Maybe 3

just answering an earlier question that cairns would need to lose to rocky to make the finals or they could just beat townsville by more than 2 to gain the split and beat rocky(the rest are easy wins for them)and finish on 4 losses with townsville giving them 2nd spot and a home semi,they'll do it as long as they stay healthy.

The finals race is awesome this year! Very exciting. So many teams vying for spots in all the pools. With all top teams with some very losable games ahead. Here are some that I think will be crackers!

Zane is playing with an injured fot at the moment has not trained for two weeks so not likely to go off. Also playing in a system where he is not required to assert himself offensively

I know the Live Stats are in trial mode but why is it that this is the second road trip for South West and it isnt working AGAIN for their games. All others seem to be working ok. So frustrating.

It was easily one of the best individual performances by any Wizards player ever. 67pts (30/40 shooting, 7/12 ft), 26rebs & 11asts in what has to be POTW numbers. Wizards won 137-112, with Tragardh obviously leading the way, with Sykes & Davis also tacking on 28 points each.
The highlight reel tonight was all about Bruce Brown, netting 32pts and 10rebs, including at least 5 massive dunks over the Wizards bigs, including one tip in jam over Trigger. Massive stuff. Dave Gurney also chimed in with 23pts at 10/17 shooting.

Not as good a stats as Tragagh but I saw Shannon Profitt post 30 pts at 73% from the field, 100% FT, 16 Rbds 4 steals 4 assts and 1 block (plus a whole lot of stuff that doesnt show on a stat sheet) to bring Maroochydore back from 9 down at 3/4 time against a very good Mackay side with Kelly Wilson last night. Pretty impressive player and combined with Nicole Castro were able to "quiet" the Kelly Wilson juggernaut to get their young team home.

Townsville Flames destroy Cairns 126-31 for their 40th consectutive win, A new Australian open age (NBL, WNBL, ABA) record!

Unfortunately the stats were not recorded properly, with the Flames only being registered for 12 assists. This is despite a team scoring 126 pts making lay-ups and open jump shots all game? Seems we need to get our stats people together and make sure everybody is on the same page, because I have read about other dodgy stats sheets on this forum from other places as well......

i think mackay did get a couple of tough calls against them,put them in foul trouble.but kruger got two techs,absolutely rode the refs from the tip off,plus another tech on the bench,should of been kicked off way earlier coz it was clear his intentions were to just try hurt people,the man needs to focus on playing.
mackay have plenty of skill,zane playing injured,so why did'nt deba touch the ball every trip down?

Depends how you define a 'dud'...?

It is true he isn't averaing 35 and 12 like Jay Anderson, or 30 and 17 like Brian Jett, but when you consider that both those players haven't been able to get their teams wins on the board I think I would rather have a Bruce Brown who have been able to fill a void that the Neers were missing.

It is true he was a bit unfit when he arrived but as his fitness has picked up, so has his game.

He is also great with the kids and one of the reasons the Toowoomba crowds are on the increase.

I am a Mackay supporter I was at the game and that is a complete fantasy the refs were very good as usual

If it comes down to the last game cairns will throw it to make sure rocky come first so they make the finals! ITS OVER! Also the fact that rocky have lost once at home in the last 3 years!!!! Agreed brissy might get them but they will have to play well. South west are done like a dinner. Have proven that they can beat any team in the comp but can also los to any! Nope. Top two in each pool, plus an extra spot for the pool who has the top team overall.

Cairns don't have to throw the last game since beating Townsville as they now have the better record between the two.

It will be Townsville missing out if Rocky don't get top spot.

The chances of rochy losing the game in rocky=slim(but in saying that it is a chance) the chances of rocky losing on their home floor by 30 with hosting the finals and top spot on the line= IMPOSSIBLE. Not in a thousand years! Aaron Fearne has gone into rocky with alot better teams than the one he has now and has been turned away everytime! well atleast the last 5 years!

so I think after the last game of the season between gladstone and cairns, cairns should buy us a few drinks for helping rocky get top spot and them making the finals. rocky could come down and shout a few as well. I am happy only have to drive an hour to watch the finals if I can get a ticket, the atmosphere in rocky will be out standing, cant see the them dropping the finals either. They will we be the 2008 QABL champions!!!!

The goannas season was done a month ago when they dropped so many games they should have won against weaker competition. It was over because they had so many tough games remaining! Coast still got to play mackay in mackay(which i think they will win) rocky in rocky(no chance) cairns at goldy (no chance) and south west(which i think they will win) Logan will hold court and win the games they are supposed to win. They will lose to brisbane but beat pirates. The neers have had a great year and have been big improvers! I like what they are doing out there. But unfortunately they are out of the race!

It might be a slim chance but if Brissie beats Rocky this week and then Cairns beats Rocky by 26 or more then Rocky could miss out on the finals altogether.

Also depends on SW beating Ippi, Logan, and GC.

I would have thought if Rocky lose to Brisbane and then Cairns that they would be knocked out regardless of the score, assuming Sth West, Townsville, and Cairns all continue to win.

In a three-way tie doesn't it go on head to head (wins amoungst those teams first, and percentages in the game played secondly).

If Cairns win against Rocky in Rocky they will have 3 wins in the Cairns/T'ville/Rocky games, Townsville will have 2 and Rocky will have 1.

South West have had there run - don't consider for a moment that Gladstone can beat Cairns, Cairns will murder them as long as they are full strength.... but in saying that Cairns are no chance of beating Rocky in Rocky either.

Rocky have gone completely missing for a full quarter in a few of their games this year. As long as you don't get beat too badly in the other 3 you're going to be some chance. Just have to pack in the zone and hope they have one of their 3 from 30 3pt shooting nights.
