Would't say it's the pool of death, the other pool is just as tough with the USA, Spain and whoever else.

I think it's fair to say everyone has their work cut out for them, and anybody can beat anybody on their day. Except for Iran, they're shit and will get the arse handed to them on various platters.

Croats, Russia, Argentines and Lithuania all beatable for the Aussies. Heck we had a 15 point lead on Argentinia (3 NBA stars at least) until Bogut went down, and dropped by only 2. Watched Russia against the USA and to be honest they didn't look all that flash. Lithuania will be tough as shit, not sure about Croatia tho.

You are right, the other pool is by far the toughest.

USA, Spain, Greece, Germany, China and Angola

My money is spain winning that pool, but in a heartbeat it could be any of them, Angola is the weakest, but they are still strong.

Australia has a good chance, as in preseason we had some good showings (Losing to Argentina in the final by 4 w/ Bogut injured half of it)(Losing to the US by 11 without Bogut)...

We can really take it to our pool, as Argentina should be the top team, and we took it to them.

Pool B is by far the strongest, with cross overs of us playing Greece most probably, which is tough considering they took out USA in the World champs in 2006 in the semi's... My money says we have to knock off Argentina and come first in our pool (which is possible) and we could be in the medal contention.

Indeed, the coverage was very dull. I think it had something to do with how poorly the Boomers played. I mean, it was never going to be live but if we had performed better I'd suggest more would have been shown. The USA looked fairly hot against a determined Chinese outfit. Man, what were the odds on the first bucket being a triple from Yao... Love some of that. LeBron was powerful and did as he pleased, D-Wade got into open court alot, Dwight was dunking over Yi Jianlian easily and Deron Williams played with his opposition at stages. Plenty of dunks, blocks and fast breaks. For China, Yao was ok, Yi was a tad dissapointing whilst there point guard was good against three quality points and Sun Yue, the 6-9 off guard was a suprise packet and surely on some radars.

Yeah, I was fuming. Stayed up to watch the game as advertised, and instead dealt swimming and gymnastics .... FFS! Was forced to follow the boxscore online.

Even more ordinary was when they did show a part of the game, it wasn't even live!

Are the Boomers destined to become the latest incarnation of the Socceroos? So much on offer and yet failing to produce the goods when it matters....the way they're playing against Argentina through the 1st quarter, it's little wonder Channel 7 is only showing a small portion of their games....they need to start playing from the first jump not wait until they are 18 down in the 2nd quarter to finally start hitting some shots and playing defence with some conviction. Will just have to see how long coverage goes for this morning i guess....

Olympics would go head to head in event of a tie, that puts Croatia and Argentina (if they lose to Russia which is doubtful) equal with boomers. Boomers lost both so go through in fourth....

SBS has games on at 4:30pm (QF1) and 7:30pm (QF2). One would assume that means we'll see Spain v Croatia & Lith v China, with Channel 7 having the "rights" to show the USA/AU game. At least the play by play results on fiba.com is accurate :(

Anyone last long enough watch the Argentina vs Greece game? I burnt out just before half time & crashed hard. Turns out was the closest game of the QFs :(

How bad has the seven's coverage on basketball been?? Showing ads during the middle of the game while having us listening to their dodgy commentator talking crap during the time outs. Why didn’t they show ads during time outs so we don’t have to listen to their crapy commentating and more importantly we won’t miss the game.

Just before, they show about 3or4 minutes of the 3rd quarter of the men’s gold medal match. Cutting the game by constantly showing the same ads. What’s with that? Honestly, we all got the message!! Aussie just won two gold. Don’t have to show the same ad repeating the same thing over and over again. Hey channel seven, in case you haven’t notice, basketball has four 10minutes quarters…

After the disaster coverage of the 3rd quarter they intelligently decided to go into news. Simply cut out the whole fourth quarter. What’s the go with that?

Honestly someone has to let them know that they’ve done a terrible terrible job at telecasting the basketball games. They’ve done good jobs on other sports but very very terrible at basketball!!!

after being totally screwed over by channel 7 last night during the Gold Medal game, i watched every other channel for the whole night and not the closing ceremony...... just out of principle!

im sick of those qantas and ford territory ads on 7 too
