Is this the same BBI team that won div 2 last season?

Some of the players are, A bit of a mix. They have players form that side, players from their second side last year and some new players. Also with a coach like they have (Chris Riches) you know they are only going to get stronger by the end of the season.

Draw for grading.
Top 2 from each pool go through then highest placed 3rd place team Qualifying and 2nd highest 3rd placed team vs Lowest placed 3rd team to determine 8th spot

Pool A
Logan Thunder
Northside Wizards
Brisbane Capitals

Pool B
South West
Southern Districts
Runaway Bay

Pool C
Gold Coast
Maroochydore
Ipswich Force

Tough comp with only 1 team to miss out on PL. BQ should make an allowance and just let them all qualify, It would be a great learning experience for the 9th place team.

Agree as a parent I think that if your son really loves the game who really cares if the team comes last in PL just let them play. Players can only get better by playing the harder teams

Unregistered

Sorry don't agree, the gap between top teams and bottom is generally huge. Runaway Bay made Premier last year and lost cross over challenge, didn't factor in Div 2 finals, experience is great but kids need to enjoy a competitive game, no point getting 'flogged' like some scores last year, kids lose enjoyment of game. then don't come back. If winning wasn't important BBI would have remained in Premier for Classic's for the experience ??

I think last year some of the players from the BBI Gold team were just playing to get a medal and the only reason they didn't play in Div 1 at the classics was so that they could get a medal in Div 2.
It's a bit silly though if 1 team misses out though the 2nd last team qualifies but between the last and 2nd last their is only 1or2 points seperating them. How do they justify that team scrapping into PL but getting smashed every week?

Unregistered
06-10-08, 14:14
I totally agree with above statement. If the 8th placed team gets into PL and gets beaten heavily every week though the team that didn't make it goes into SC but does all the smashing how does the SC last placed team feel? Wouldn't they also wan't to give up the game. Most of SC players are very new to Basketball and don't really wan't to get beaten badly as well.
I leave it up for rebutles.

whether it be PL or SC the gap between top sides and bottom sides will always vary greatly in the U12's. As they go up in age groups the gap in skill will reduce, so what is the answer? those teams who are worthy of 'matching it' with each other be in the same division regardless of numbers?, but a line needs to be drawn somewhere

South West Under 12 boys are playing well down here. I say watch out Townsville and Cairns because these boys are quick, play smarter and play as a team. They just do not have one or two players in the team who can score South West have 7 - 8 players with game and skills to burn off their oppenants.

The danger team in u12 isn't in Premier League or TON. Redlands u12 are currently blitzing the other 7 Southern Cup teams and are undefeated with 1079% point average. They beat the second placed team Caboolture 1, 65-21. The comp also includes Toowoomba 1 and Maroochydore 1.

I hope this Redlands team will be challenging for Premier League. It would be good to see another Redlands team running around in PL. Be careful tho that you don't talk them up too much. Both the Under 16 and 18 Boys Redlands teams have discovered that, despite the preseason hype, Premier League is a whole different level.

I would be very surprised if they came within 20 of South West and Gold Coast who are setting the pace in PL in the Under 12's this year.... Having said that.... this bird has been surprised before! :o

Might be time for BQ to look at their optional grading policy, why is a team that wins by 100 every week parked in southern cup? That will do nothing but drive kids and families away from basketball.

I think he is # 13 from Ipswich. He has played under 12's for the last 3 years. He is good player, tall and a lefty! Saw him play against runaway bay he blitzed them all. I think he will be the one to watch in the future!

Just looking at this forum and was looking at how it was stating watch out for cairns and townsville. Looking at some of the scores I think Townsville beat cairns by like 75 im sure thats what it saids.

Redlands have won alot more games. Will they make the finals? if they win there remaining 2 games they would have to consider themselves unlucky not to be in the finals.

He has had a good coach who has taught the boys excellent fundi's and easily if they had a big would be in the top 3 i reckon.

SW to win the comp - to big and to fast
GC closely behind them
BRIS Riches doing a great job
Northside have a chance as the classics at there stadium and they have the worst refs in the league (Closely trailled by M'dore, spartans & Ips) - The big kid can ball - Pitty they play a zone!!
IPS - good guards and mids but no bigs!! Did they coach get ejected the other wk??
Spartans - 2 good kids thats it
RED have scores which is what some other teams dont have!!

Looks like classics maybe a 2 horse race. Can anyone challenge South West or Gold Coast at classics. Can anyone comment about the North teams. Can they come to the party to challenge these teams from the south.

Agree - and depending on a satisfactory explanation from Toowoomba, drastic reprisal for entire Association, Non participation next season?

I can't imagine every player being injured, is teh opposition that good they just dont want to travel to lose?

How about not accepting CLASSICS Nomination?

In one. Money honey.

Guys any asked why or are we just going to lynch them all. This is nothing new. All Associations have not been able to play at one stage or another. I am thinking maybe BQJBC has out lived is use and time for powers to re-think and restructure.

well if that is why they have forfieted then some people need to grow up these boys may never again have the chance to play a semi and some selfish people have taken that away from these boys. playoffs truly make some players and give young kids a chance to show that while other teams are at home they are still playing. we taech our players to never take a final for granted and to cherish the occasion and leave nothing on the court.
i realy do hope for the sake of the boys that they have another chance to play finals in the future.

the person/people that made this decision based on the execuse above should step away from running anything to do with basketball. total shame and i really hope this is not the reason for the forfiet

To be fair to Toowoomba, we don't know the reason, we are all speculating the whys, The two teams (Caboolture and Toowoomba )played just last week with Cab winning 63/26. However I agree that if there is not an acceptable reason BQ should then not accept this team (under12) for Classics - if they have nomintaed. Maybe even all their teams to make a strong statement to all Associations - if adults have made a decision based on competitivness then they should be ashamed.
