Spent the money sometime ago for them and still waiting...

You should be receiving your Bullets Season Tickets over the next 2 weeks. They are getting sent out from Ticketek not the Bullets office so they have no control over which date you will receive them. As their first HOME game not until the 5th of October they are suggesting that if you have not received your tickets by October 1st to please call the Bullets office then and they will arrange with Ticketek to have the tickets re-printed.

I have seen the bullets roster and i cannot see Nate Neisler's name there. Any one know what happened. Surely if they have room for Tom Amar they could have had room for Nate. Anyone know the dealio.

To all our valued season ticket holders,

We have received many phone calls and emails this week as many of you are concerned about receiving your season tickets.

We were advised by Ticketek yesterday that due to some operational issues there had been a delay with distribution. They confirmed this morning that distribution will start Friday of this week or Monday of next week.

We do apologies that there has been a delay however this process is well out of our control and it leaves us unable to expedite the process for you.

If you have not received your tickets by Wednesday the 3rd of October please send an email to emma@bullets.com.au so she can arrange for new tickets to be printed and collected at game one on Friday the 5th of October.

Kindest Regards

bullets played chinese national team last night in first of three matches, huge crowd, electric atmosphere, C.J. Bruton hit a jump shot from a missed 3 pt attempt by Ere to win the game by 1 point. Second match played tonight at about 10.pm our time I think. Scores on Guandong sports. Go the Bullets! Updates on Oz hoops.

I notice that Rhys Martin got another run with the bullets this time on the road in their victory over the hawks tonight with Justin Brown out of the roster with an injury.

His only statistic for the night was a single defensive rebound, in limited minutes.

Championship banner is being raised at 6:45pm. Game tips at 7:15.

I noticed that the Bullets only played 10 players at their last (and first) home game. Does this mean that they are not going to suit up their development players this year or has the league gone back to 10 players for both home and away.?

I received this email this morning as a season ticket holder.

Please see below a press release that will be sent to all media outlets sometime this morning.

Eddy Groves has been a strong and supportive owner of the Bullets and we have had great success with him at the helm. We are committed and focused on finding a new ownership body for the Brisbane Bullets and we will continue to update you with progress as things come to light.

We will send email updates and make any announcements via our web site, we ask that you allow us to focus on our task of finding a new owners and if you have any questions please email me at nkelly@bullets.com.au and I will attend to your questions as best I can.

Thank you for your continued support of the Brisbane Bullets and we look forward to a strong future.

Groves to sell Brisbane Bullets

March 14, 2008

Eddy Groves, owner of the 2007-2008 Championship-winning Brisbane Bullets basketball team for the past nine years, today announced he was regretfully selling the team.

The announcement followed a meeting last night in which Mr Groves informed Bullets’ players of his decision.

Mr Groves said that after nearly a decade of ownership - and with business interests a priority - the time was right to step away completely from ownership of the Bullets.

“The Brisbane Bullets has been a significant part of my life for almost a decade and has given me some incredible experiences,” Mr Groves said. “Owning a professional basketball team presents you with all the drama that only professional sport can conjure up – ups, downs, and amazing times.

“We have been last on the table, we have won a Championship, and we’ve experienced everything in between. The last five years in particular has been a very successful period, to the point where we have consistently been one of the elite teams in the League.

“However, there is a time and a place for everything. With my focus firmly on ABC Learning Centres, this is the appropriate time to relinquish ownership of the Bullets.

“I’ve talked things over at length with Jeff (Van Groningen) and I have looked at many different scenarios. But this is the best option for the team as I address my other business interests.

“I’m extremely proud of all that we’ve achieved with the Bullets and firmly believe, as I always have done, that the team has an excellent future,” he said. “I’d like to thank all the players, staff, media and anyone else involved with the team during the past decade for all their effort and support.”

Mr Groves will honour outstanding player payments for the season just completed. Subsequent arrangements would be the responsibility of any new owner. The team license is available for purchase by interested parties, who would work with the NBL head office to fulfil ownership requirements.

“I am hopeful a new owner or ownership group will step up and continue the 29-year association between the city of Brisbane and its championship-winning professional basketball team,” Mr Groves said.

“The Brisbane Bullets is a strong sporting brand and a proud and successful team. A night at the basketball is still a fantastic experience. I’ve put a great deal into building up the team and the sport in this city, and now it’s time for someone else to step into that role.”

If Bullets fold which is looking more and more likely every day what does that mean oro basketball in the Brisbane area? I really think some people need to start looking at the real affects this will happen long term.
In reality Gold Coast perhaps Logan will survive through promotions of current WNBL and NBL franchises but then we are left without a major metroplolitan program which will affect the already meagre media and sponsorship support.
Districts who have made the move to SEABL whether you agree or not will be protected by the standard of teams and current local support but players of the future will have to have deep thoughts about playing for them or moving elsewhere so they are seen in the south or north if they aspire to play at NBL level. This will limpact over time on the rest of the junior programs.
Another option is that Bq or a few Associations get together and play a team in SEABL while we try and gather our combined forces towards establishing another NBL program in Brisbane.
This would not affect QABL as teams would still be playing. Perhaps the SEABL program could become a Brisbane program rather then just beonging to Districts.
Lets not be negative here. We all need to open our minds for the betterment of the sport.

You are right. The mentality exists that if you were some sort of elite player then you will be great in the exec role. Rubbish. You need someone who knows how to market the game not just know how it is played.

We are I feel in for a long and sad road ahead.

Sam set to fly Bullets coop
April 7, 2008 - 4:55PM AAP

Time is fast running out for the owner-less Brisbane Bullets with skipper Sam Mackinnon and other players set to fly the coop by the end of the week.

Like several players, Mackinnon is sweating on an answer about Brisbane's NBL future by week's end.

If there's no positive news he could be forced to accept offers from either current champions Melbourne or South Dragons.

Brisbane is believed to be in talks with a potential white knight but no details are known.

The players, including Mackinnon, have been loyal to the Bullets since owner Eddy Groves announced he was bailing out last month.

But Mackinnon, anxious to know more about the latest talks, said on Monday time was running out fast.

"We've been told something may happen over the next day or two," the multi-Olympian told AAP.

"They've kept everything confidential, even from the players, which doesn't help.

"I can't afford to sit around and wait for a potential buyer to come in, I'd be silly to do that.

"The reality is if you wait around a few months to see what happens you may not have a team.

"I want to play in a strong team and the reality is the longer this goes on the more chance guys like me are going to move on.

"We've done the best we could to try and stay and support the club."

Mackinnon (maximum 10 points) said players with high points under the NBL's salary cap couldn't sit around and expect to walk into a team in a few months time.

"Clubs just won't be able to fit us then," he said.

"For me personally, if there's nothing concrete by the end of the week I'll be gone."

Melbourne are odds on to secure Mackinnon.

"I don't want to leave Brisbane but I'm not going to move to Townsville or Perth or anywhere like that.

"It's either here or back in Melbourne."

Teammate Mick Hill said most of the players were in a similar boat and would begin looking at their options by the end of the week.

"I'm just talking to a few people and waiting to see what happens to the Bullets," said Hill.

"I think we're all holding off till the end of the week and then we might all have to go and find a job."

Hopefully all the secrecy and not keeping the fans informed means that they haven't
lost their long time supporters.

Guys, a news release or some kind of information would have been good.

Now I suppose they will be want everyone back just like nothing has happened....

I hope new owners won't mean dearer tickets...
But if it means having REAL entertainment (not that hip hop crap)at time outs and half time it could be worth it.

Would it have been beter to watch the Bullets fold? No one can pay the ridiculous amounts Eddy was dishing up to his players and remain viable. If it means losing a few players, so be it. I do know that Gibbo is back and Steve Weigh and Bubles Goulding will get contracts, thats a nice young backcourt to build on for the future. I like looking at the positives. Hey its your money, do with it what you will.

Why would Bullets management let the public know what they are doing? I am sure they are working out what they are doing as they go. I am sure McKinnon leaving was expected. CJ was made a VERY nice offer, he said he was heading to Europe, then signed with NZ, thats how he seems to roll. Losing Brad is no major blow, Brad needs the change of secenry that a gig in Townsville will bring. Goulding made great strides last season and is ready to play, and he's a 1 pointer. Add Steve Weigh to the mix and Brad/Slick have been replaced with younger cheaper (point wise) players, good move by the Bullets.

Replacing Dusty (who by all reports is gone) is simply repalcing an import with another one, and I am a Dusty fan, but hey thats the way it works. There is still hope Bradshaw returns, so I have heard. Boucher is gone, thats going to hurt. Ebi is a chance too, we shall see.

Bullets still need to get a new import and some bigs, I wold expect Vanderjact to be signed and maybe Brown, if they can't get better. I also hear there are a couple of Aussie college guys being spoken to. So with a bit of luck the Bullets could look like this

Gibbo
Ebi
Weigh
Import
Bradshaw

Goulding
Vanderjact/Brown
Hill/Castle?
College kid
???

To the other moron: I support the Brisbane Bullets, the club that has been in the league from the day dot!!

Brown - Unlikely Vanderjact

So only two of the top 10 players from last year + Goulding
Way to keep a good performing team together, so much for team chemistry.

All of you are upset that CJ lied. Has it occured to any of you that he is not in Brisbane because joey and his man of the moment Gibbo, still are. I am pretty sure if I was CJ I wouldn't want to be playing second fiddle to a player who, although no doubt talented, is not ready to be the start Joey thinks he is.

Have The bullets not told fans lies? "We are close to signing Ere." They gave him till Saturday, then Wednesday, still nothing, a week later. Not close at all.

So far, the bullets are a good SEABL side at best. Better sign some AWESOME imports.

Vanderjagt Sings On.

Virgin Blue Brisbane Bullets today announce that Greg Vanderjagt will join the Bullets for the 2008/2009 NBL season.

With the clubs fourth player announcement in the space of a week Bullets General Manager Brian Kerle is happy that the team is starting to come together.

"We have been working really hard since the sale of the club and the fact that we have been able to move forward and add players to the Bullets roster is fantastic news for the club," said Kerle. "Greg (Vanderjagt) is a player who has proven he has what it takes to play in the NBL, he has been in the league since 2004, so his experience in the position he plays will be very valuable to the Bullets."

After representing Queensland as a junior at Australian Championships Vanderjagt took up a basketball scholarship in 2001 to attend the Australian Institute of Sport where he stayed until 2003.

In 2004 he was selected in the Australian under 22 men's team to tour Europe, and upon his return signed his first NBL contract with the Townsville Crocodiles.

Greg joins the Bullets family after spending 5 seasons with the Townsville Crocodiles and is looking forward to the challenge that awaits him.

"I'm excited about the make up of the new team and it is a good opportunity for the younger players to step up and prove they deserve to be in the league," said Vanderjagt. "I am looking forward to the challenge of filling the hole left by some of the departing players around the club."

The move from Townsville now gives Vanderjagt the opportunity to live in Brisbane full time and join his Queensland Firebird and Australian Netball representative partner Lauren Nourse.

it has been interesting reading the reporting - read Courier Mail- and hearing (tv read ABC and a bit on Ten) comment on the Bullets departures...

interesting comments on CJ lying ??? evidence ..proof?? Scenario simple I thought.... old owner...contracts and offers in place....old owner leaves, players given no info or support, remember we are talking professional athletes who play basketball to eat (remember our hierarchy of needs)....old contracts and offers torn up....livelihoods in jeopardy...some players had bought homes and businesses in Brissy with plans to play out career..this is fact...

other teams circling to sign players etc should the Bullets fold....suddenly new owners, nerw deals...old coach re signs on a cushy 5 year deal......the spin is "the players are walking out"....does anyone believe this....

have read some comments about Eddy paying outrageous wages...there is a salary cap...duh!!

a championship team exploded because of a mismanaging front office..and an unfortunate situation regarding Eddy Groves...no hard feelings for Eddy, his was a business decision, it happens...but the way the players were treated in the aftermath...poor..and the reporting was not the truth of the situation....

if you were playing for say...this much....one week... and the club decides to offer you...say ..this much..the next week...what would you do....and reportng that you may use some of Mackinnons money to acquire Ebi Ere...hardly inspires enthusiasm from the rest of the squad.....no wonder everyone got worried and looked after themselves...remember there is a salary cap.

Joey orchestrated himself the best deal...while openly courting the Wildcats and Dragons....he has got off easy....the players should not be scapegoated here....

supporting the bullets was easy when they finally recruited a decent team and were on the verge of creating a dynasty...it will be tough now...look at what Adelaide is doing...look out for the 36ers next season...and Sammy Mac at Tigers..how tough are they going to be....get on a Tigers/36ers final...what odds...
