No, not this year. They asked she declined.

I think you'll find it was decided by AIS and supported by Gretel's parents that due her very young status she remain living at home for another year. Will still be attending all squad camps and international matches at the AIS.

I believe it to be the other way around. Was decided by team Tippett to decline the AIS offer and that decision was supported by the AIS. Like the AIS would do anything but support that one. Totally agree with the decision, she has a bright future in front of her, and time is on her side for sure. Gretel will have her time at the AIS, maybe next year or 2010.
I reckon she is odds on to represent Oz as an Opal in London 2012.

Hey, i am newbie in this BenDoes thing, and new to classics, so i was wondering if the premier league teams are automatically into division1 at classics? I know north and central teams also add to the mix, so how are the top X number of teams for classics decided?

What is happening with this comp? I've heard that Spartans have forfeited this week to Seahawks and Gold Coast are only taking 6 players up to play at Maroochydore. Is there a bit of ladder manipulation going on?

Interesting way of developing the game!! Although before one jumps to conclusions, I am sure there is a reason!!

The refereeing at the Gold Coast , Runaway Bay game tonight at TSS was an absolute disgrace.

i believe the reason was holiday commitments for a few of the gold coast girls and national commitments(gretal)
or something along those lines
as for the last post about reffing. id love to know who was reffing

Gold Coast refs of course. 'Home court advantage' has a whole new meaning these days

Care to provide some examples to back up your fairly blunt statement? Or is it a case of "my team lost = reffing was a disgrace" ?

Runaway Bay 4 x QAS [now defunct] players - 3 x Qld State South players........Gold Coast 0 x QAS players - 0 x Qld South state players............and no Gretel, fantastic Gold Coast well done!!. You are a lot more than a one player team. You are a team!!
You would question why more players did not try out for the Under 18 Girls State South team, 1st place Gold Coast - 2 players, 5th place Maroochydore - nil players, was it that 8 x places were already selected before the trials began!!

Perhaps the BQ Development Officer that watched the game should be asked for his impartial opinion on the standard of reffing?

I saw this game and i thought that there were rough calls both ways bay gave it one hell of fright to coast but to me the what cost bay the game was coast up 1 with 17 seconds left ball in hand no one would foul forcing kate webb whom was tied with peyton for best on court to foul this being her 5th and 9 seconds left coast hit 1 of 2 being the second.
bay had a time out left could of used this to advance the ball and sort out their side but chose not to.....
pressure from coast made bay force the shot the got the offensive board and coast knoced out of bounds with 1.2secs left still no time out called.....
ball inbounded and a rushed off balanced 3 pts shot bounced off the rim as time expired...
before people go on about the refs look at the game situations and the fact that the coach went missing when the game was on the line...

Gold Coast may have no QAS or State players but you forgot to mention your very supportive referees!

I am not from the Coast!! I think you forgot to mention the easy ride players have had to make these teams. There are very good players in every team. Oh the joy of politics in Junior sport!! It begs the question, is Gretel available for the Final?? If so the other half of the State team will be on the losing team in the Grand Final!!

Couple of questions from previous quotes-
what makes you think that 8 places had allready been selected for the state team prior to trials taking place? Considering that selection into the state team this year is based soely on performance at BQJBC and that actually trials?
Also someone has suggested that some players may have had easy rides into these teams ( i presume they would be meaning the state team) If so i would be interested to see who you think has had an easy ride?
Thanks

I AM a gold coast player and was told about all these patheic things written so decided to come take a look... i bet half of the stuff written is from parents too...your all pathetic and really need to get over it Gold coast girls under 18's won fair and square and had the disadvantage of bad refs at their home ground too we all think we have terrible refs too but seriously the game was won by the rightful team,
this team was underestimated and wanted to prove they could do it without gretel and prove everyone one wrong...AND THEY DID IT ! awesome job gold coast girls well deserved...

Actually thought Gold Coast were hard done by in the final with some of the no calls, particularly late in the 4th quarter. It was the first time I had watched this division, those Coast girls were tough team. Congrats to both teams it was played hard and tough. Good to watch.

I had heard that Gold Coast was a dysfunctional association but I have never heard of a player bagging their own referees! That must be a first.
