No mate im not kidding...do you seriously think anyone can mark up against Mitch M or Corban W (not to mention the rest of their team) please enlighten me....
yes a certain person from sd, and yeah sd do look like a well drilled team but its most prob out of sd, bbi, logan if they all get there stuff together

After results of grading comp the scenes set for some BIG upsets. you never know what could happen, especially if top teams expect the shock entries to be walk overs, redlands might come out with a win against goldy if they write them off.. still unlikely but gold coast and brisbane have big heads and are probably not as good as they think. and spartans II look tough, they're small but they ran hard against runaway bay and came off with a big, well fought for victory. i would expect them to be knocking off some top teams if theyre written off.. ESPECIALLY if some of the teams are suffering injuries or suspensions anywhere.

Bit premature to judge on a couple of shortened games of basketball. Many teams still getting their combos in place and haven't trained together for long. Plenty of time for the boys to show their stuff.
thats excactly right! thank u. yeh the grading tournament may have been a bit iffy on the skill side and wow factor, excluding a few, but teams have only just come together and are just starting to get their shit together. Im a brisbane supporter and i know that the u18 team hasnt had a single training where they have had a full team of 10 yet!! not asking for sympathy, just giving an example of what may be happening across the league.
i believe as the premier league season goes on, many of the team will start to come along better and we will have a very good and interesting season on our hands.
and p.s. can people please stop saying that teams like brisbane, spartans n gold coast etc have "big heads" due to some of the comments posted on this site more than likely by adults rather than the actual kids in the team.

Woot, congrats George and the boys on being the second team to make PL from Redlands!!!! :lol2:

Disagree with that comment. Maroochydore had the game won by half time. The plain and simple reason as to how Maroochy lost was because they were not playing as a TEAM - too many individual players looking for hero status! Learn from that boys - every player on the court deserves respect - they have worked hard to be there so include everyone and watch team morale improve markedly.
Maybe the problem at Maroochy is not only the lack of respect to other teams but the lack of respect between the players , coaches and parents. I think you will find there will be more
players leave the team . Big problem with ego's , ball hogs and no discipline.

The team wouldn't be a PL team without Daniel....
United you stand, divided you fall....
Is your son not getting court time??? or wat???

Different years, different tiers. Different coach, different folks. Heard tell the Maroochy Coach was offered a State job this year but knocked it back so he could coach NZ at the International tournament in Sydney next year. Probably suggest it's a bit rich to be telling him how to suck eggs as to player management. Isnt that a parental thing after all? It's all cyclical anyway and changes with the years. 3 out of 8 Classics in 2007 then 4 out of 8, in 2008 is a pretty good result for a 400 person association. They'll be around again in the future. And if they're not it's not like they havent got anything else to fulfil their lives now...is it?

Do you mind naming that mistery man of yours...? and Brisbane don't have big heads; and im not a parent or adult...i've playED with or against everyone in this comp. and my oppinion is that Brisbane will dominate this year. I think no one can mark up against our players.

Although most of this gossip sounds great, no ones really going to know who is looking the goods untill they actually start playing! Its like placing bets on baby's, you can't tell which one is going to win untill they start developing and progressing. But while concidering this i think we already have a few teams at their todler stage while the others are still drooling and crawling around.
On another note, looks like there is going to be a tight southern cup pool. No real 'Huge' wins on the weekend except for those over the challenge cup teams. At this point in time southerncup is anyones game.

For those who keep asking and saying there is no deapth in the logan side, still haven't seen the line-up which include 8 of the 10 that won 2007 U16 Classics.
1- Daniel Simms, Jarryd Louwen, Grant Durak
2- Richard Morris, Nathan O'shae, Ben Rumpler
3- Taylor Barry, Jordan Teo, Josh (not sure on last name)
4/5- Josh Ogunmokun, Jackson Row, Matt Woock

teams can train all they want and eventually might run there systems silky smooth! without attacking individuals, all i am saying is that anyone that really knows & understands the game can see that the u/18 boys comp this year overall is a very low standard compared to previous years with only 5, 6 or 7 players at the most that have "got game".
i'm not going to count dudes that can jump out of the gym, run faster than superman or show a couple of skills if they aren't smart & balanced.... i'm talkin about players that actually have "almost" a complete game. e.g. inside, mid range & outside game, both hands strong, court vision, understanding tempo, etc. we r talkin about 18's here, not u12's & 14's. some of these boys r old enuff to go college, qabl, national league development squads, etc next year but i have to be honest & say the pickings r the slimmest evr. yeah, teams will improve, but "most" individuals need to get out n work their butts off to learn this game. pic up the standard south qld, u r laggin behind big time!
yeah, i also agree with the dude that said mc carron & wroe will own the comp this year, but only because they have so little competition overall to play against. probably 2 or 3 players that will give them any competition at all realistically. get out and earn ur stripes dudes if u want to get anywhere in the future. watchin nba and fun shoot a rounds ain't gunna get it done. some of u coaches need to spend more tme teachin indiv skills and help the boys out as well. with the exception of a few, most of u spend way to much time feedin ur own ego teachin offenses & defenses that look good forgettin about pure skill development that will get players to higher levels and allow them to show their full potential. more teachers & fewer glory hunters required. some of u r awesome though!

Daniel Sims stepped up and so did josh blank.
who is josh blank haha, i didnt see him do anything.
but daniel sims yeah i can agree with that and considering he played most of the game
with a semi-inured calf after his cramp. racking up 3/4 blocks and multiple assists.
considering he is about 5'11. He is one to watch.

good point , tough 2 , 3 who can shoot not much else , jordan who is lazy and cocky but is an amazing talent and joshy who is always tough but apart from them who the hell is everyone else????????? no depth in one which is very important . no depth when josh need a break in the 5 . pretty decent 3's . but seroiusly those bench player when on the court will be a massive liability .

Who says all those players in Logans Div 1 team will remain in Div 1, there are a couple I would query as to their skill level as some one posted earlier its fine to be super fast or have great hops but you need at least basic ball skills to compete in Div 1 U18s.I think there are a few questionable players in that div 1 team. At the end of the day do you want to win or keep parents/association happy.

Seems like a good insurance policy for Eric Sengstock. Eric is a great big, but struggles with his injuries. Coleman should help there; could be a smart move by Brissie.

Yeh id agree with that.
A fair few highlights, no look passes coming from everywhere from the brisbane guards, while maroochy showed that they should really be in div 1.
Seth Turner played well, supported by Josh's smooth shooting.
Corban Wroe and Mitch McCarron were the standouts for brisbane.

Agree. Besides, given the upsets in the grading competition, there's bound to be surprises.

Huge kid Jah plays logan div 2 with a bit more dedication, sharpen up on his skills, less fancy shite and spent real time on fitness, he could own a spot in starting 5 logan div 1. They need his bulk and height to do a bit of damage and wearing down on the oppostion both on offense and defense. Dunno if he realises his potential.

The coaching staff of Logan have Jah, Argon, Donovan working hard on their games. They are div 1 potential but as you mention "sharpen up skills, less fancy shit, fitness" and DISCIPLINE will hoon these guys talents up and over the ring.

Yeah i watched the first half it was pretty scrappy to what i thought it would be like
I think the stand out of the first half was bottom age Bernard Tarca it felt like he scored like 50% of their points coming off the bench :D
The refs were pretty horrible in the first half heaps of fouls :banghead: and the worst call was when tommy laycok did an onside dribble and they call it carry :eyebrow:

if all u want is close games go and watch the third div as for a big 4 there is nothing big about any of these teams they are decidedly average and besides last year these are the weakest group in ages.
individually however there are abunch of players who will be interesting to watch and some of the so called weaker teams have some good mid size athletes who may come on yet. so win or lose there is still likely to be some interesting performances if you can look past a scoreboard

Not sure Luke, especially now with Corban leaving. Surely that will have an impact? Any chance of you having a change of heart and coming out of early retirement to help out your old club?
To the guy who pcked Mdore, they are no chance to make top 4 in PL, cause they are currently in SC. The rules make it nearly impossible for a team that statrs in SC to make the PL top 4.
My top 3 in no particular order
Districts
Logan
Brisbane
Gold Coast just a bit off the pace fourth.
Fifth daylight,
Take your pick amongst the other 4.
Not sure why the powers that be do not bite the the bullet with this age group and make a 4 team PL competition and throw the rest in SC with Mdore and Brissy 2 possibly 2 other teams, not sure which ones besides these two?. That would make a real nice comp in 3 grades. Too hard to do I guess?

Yeah unless the bottom teams get a few wins against the top 4 early this season it will be impossible for any Sth Cup team to make semis in Premier league. They will probably start premier league with 1 or 2 wins possibly even 0, when they cross over with last place.

Virtually impossible has been done before.
Perhaps they dont want to do that because right now they would be discarding a lot of associations and capable kids to div 2 on the basis of a few 20 minute scrambles that raise money for BQ but have no resemblance to the game of basketball and 2 or 3 games of a season that doesnt in reality end until July next year at the Classics. Win 8 straight in the 2nd round while others are losing some and the top 4 gets interesting with countbacks and stuff. (If anyone really places any credibility on PL-its only when you play in a tournament against the whole state that you find who has it and who doesnt) Can be sure the Maroochy kids will start training in earnest with D League and ABA in preparation for the Classics and win whatever they need to make Div 1. Seen plenty of November Premiers before today (and laughed at their big talk) as some coach with knowledge of phase preparation peaks their team to take the State title.
Does anyone have the draw for the rest of the season yet?
Is there a blue moon outside??

How can Brisbane be favourites when all they have played are the weakest teams. Districts have played better teams and still haven't lost, lets see how Brisbane fare after playing top teams. You would expect Brisbane, Logan Districts & GC to beat the bottom 4 sides so they have not proved anything.

Because they look the best on paper. That's why the person didn't go on about who they beat. I am also of the opinion that brisbane is the team to beat. They have a very strong line-up, very versitile and athletic as well as unselfish. Sure, they haven't played any of the stronger team yet. But if they put it together this weekend, i'm confident that they will upend gold coast comfortably.
Districts look like a stacked offense unit. Logan very athletic and unpredictable.
I'm looking forward to seeing some results over the next few weeks.

Bne's defence certainly looks mean, even if against the lower half. Only 119 points against to date, with no one scoring over 50 points against them. Reckon they will account for Waves this week by about 15 points. The rest of the games should see Breakers narrowly over Wizards, Logan to easily account for Titans and Spartans to defeat Redlands.

Yeah, Challenge cup swaps over with bottom of southern cup if successful. I suppose they could challenge for div1 classics seeding at wildcard challenge, but if they're in challenge cup, won't be playing PL.

1st and 2nd sth cup can challenge 8th and 7th premier league for complete swap of comp data (ie.wins losses pionts % and place on ladder).
8th premier to play 1st Sth cup
and 7th to play 2nd
But its up to sth cup team to say they want to challenge.
What if 1st sth cup wants to play 7th premier league tho (get higher in ladder if sucessful)?? i dont think the rule covers this?

But i am not taking sides or anything but i think that Logan could have won.
I think that Spartans have reached there peak in that game.
Logan played very disappointingly so when both teams play well,

But to Spartans vs Brisbane, Brisbane have a better chance of winning.
Im not taking sides once again but based on the game last night, I think
Brisbane will come out on top. Just an opinion!
What you guys think?

i think the game last night was pretty good, and if u say logan had a bad game thats just you being stupid, it was pretty high tempo with some nice playes from both teams, jorden teo needs to get used more in the logan team it looked as if he was playing a role (which is fair enough) but he needs to have the ball a bit more i thought, spartans couldnt stop his drives or athletic ability.. spartans have a very deep team as shown last night, they were missing one of there main players in jim who is a solid 18pts a game so far this season, plus his size and stregth would of helped on the boards, tom laycock had a very good game, controlled the tempo and didnt force it let the game come to him had mid 20s for the game maybe 30.. spartans go deep and if they have jim next week it will be a very good game to watch against brisbane who are obviously guard orintated with corban and mitch, but if tom and whoever guards the other lock it up, spartans depth will go through, im picking spartans by 9.. just what i think

agreed. i think that logan need to use jordan more as spartans could not stop his ability to get to the hole. daniel played well but needed to make better decisions. taylor barry played alright but was nervous from my point of view.
but i thought that the logan team didnt play as well as they could of as most of the players didnt step up, but when spartans and logan meet again, hopefully richard morris and josh ogunmokun will be there & jim wallis as well.
spartans does have depth and brisbane is a team with a lot of talent but i am not sure who will come out on top. i think that brisbane might come out on top by 5 points! who will be the match ups?
who will be guarding corban and macca?

i think tom will gaurd macca because he couldnt contain corban as he is too explosive .
and either blake or callum (im not sure if that the guy im thinking of the short chunky gaurd) guard corban either way i dont think spartans has the pace and offense to stop brisbane . just my opinion any thoughts?

i think that tom and macca will be an awesome match up but macca is still a bit more athletic than tommy but tommy is a very smart guard so that will be awesome to see. there is no one on the spartans that can guard corban apart from maybe blake or maybe the other guards. this game will be one to see. when jim wallis comes back, he will be guarded well so my bet is on brisbane.
who is the spartans starting 5 and BBI starting 5?
are there any crazy match ups (miss matches) in the staring line up?

I agree with what your saying, but don't forget..mitch is no dummy.
corban and blake would be an interesting match up. On defense i think corban could be acaught out by how slippry blake is, hwoeer corban is too powerful for blake.
Mitch is too tall and powerful for anyoneof there guards..however i've heard he is playing the 3? Does this mean jim would guard him? there is huge speedand athletism missmatch.
I think ash is too smart and versitle for brisbane's big guy ( i think it's jeromie?)
however if jeromie does go to battle he could hurt spartans inside.
Should be a very interesting match-up.
any comments?

Jim may still be in Canberra on Saturday. Will depend on how QLD go in Pacific games. (Bronze medal is played at 10.45 and final at 2.45.) Game will depend on whether the Spartan defence can hold off the Mitch/Corban assault. Will certainly be a hotly contested game. Home ground advantage might give Spartans a slight edge. Expect there will be less than 5 points in it. Giving it to Spartans by 3 due to the greater depth in their players.

Yeah you are right. although brisbane have so much talent,
Spartans have a lot of depth in their team.
The game will obviously come down to defence for the spartans.
If there D is great they will come through!
Corban & Blake will be very interesting.
They both have ways to beat their defender so it comes to D one again.
Home court advantage always helps.
I say it will be a close game.

brisbane to shut down spartans gaurds , spartans bigs most likely tougher than brisbanes. brissie have one of the toughest d in the comp so if they are able to score regularly they will win by a few but should spartans step up on d i couldnt pick em. goodluck both teams

Brisbane got an early lead 10-3 lead in the opening 2 minutes. The game got to within a point or two at some stage i think, but Brisbane never looked back and never surrendered the lead. Ultimately they pushed out the score and i think the longer the game went the more Brisbane would have won by. Interesting the posts pre-game about districts depth but i think Brisbane are deeper. They had some huge contributions from Carrol that lil guard and i think West.
Good physical game though and agree Brisbane looked the better team. Districts pushed up a few times but only had limited success whilst Brisbane adjusted. Brisbane's defense again proved to good. Big Max had a great game for districts, getting them back in the game on a few occasions and would have gone about 8/10 from the feild. You could tell Brisbane were out sized with Max on the court without sengstock. Callum was hittin his shots earlier but couldnt maintain and laycock as always dangerous on his drives.
Congrats to both teams.

I noticed a bit of a battle out there as well with a few of the players? who was that

Whilst not associated with either team, I can say this was a very entertaining tussle. Both teams appeared to be well drilled, and very athletic. As for the "x" factor, Brisbane were a lot harder to penitrate and played very tough defense. Sth Districts played very smart and changed up their offense, but credit to Brisbane as they altered their defense and came away on top. I do agree with an earlier post and think the longer the game went the further away Brisbane went. All in all a very good game to watch, very tough from both teams a credit to both associations.

you must be kidding if you think logan played good, that game was an absolute let down. Jordan, Taylor, Jackson, Jah, Matt and Josh W playin poorus defense in the back line, the only thing keeping them in the game was daniel... if you think they where playin good, someone doesnt no the game, 15+ missed layups.. the 5 minute tech rule got daniel in the which lead to there first loss, but honestly. SD looked in top form, while Logan was extremely poor.

I think that Logan could easily take out SD if they were playing good and as a team, but they didnt therefore costing them the game. Taylor Barry had an off game and so did the rest of the team apart from Daniel and Jordan. Defence wise i think Logan executed poorly. They were missing Richard Morriss and Joshua Ogunmokun so give Logan a break.
And i am sick of hearing that Daniel is the KEY to Logan when he isnt. He may seem the key cos he is the coaches son, and you can see it on the court. They need to use Jordan, Josh and Taylor more for chances of winning!
GC is out of the picture..

Maybe so.
But what happens when he comes up against guards that have all those attributes, yet are a lot taller and stronger?
My main question is however, how are logan going to defensively stop brisbane?
I saw the whole of the districts vs logan game...and logan's defense was pretty poor, especially in transition.
Then brisbane carved districts in transition and mainly stopped theirs.
Any comments?

:S?
how come they were first in under 16s? by 15 or so points over there closest rival (Spartans)
and all of the sudden, they are 3rd? yes players develop and so on but i dont think anyone expected such a drop in the standard of logan, especially seeing they have the same talent as years before.
but yes, he is a REAL coach, and has a real SON, in the team, good player but maybe run some stuff through the other players who are as good not better than daniel, and mix things up then u might have a premier league winning TEAM.

Please dont shout advice to your child during the game. Shout encouragement. A steady stream of technique suggestion, though, has no value. Your insightful tips may conflict with coaching instruction.
Please dont harass the refs? Parents that loudly harass the ref are embarrasing to the player and the team.
If a ref is being reamed by a parent for a bad call (by definition, a bad call is any decision made against the parents child) What does the player learn? The player learns that the mistake wasnt their fault. It was the result of poor officiating. This is a bad habit to get into.
Dont encourage your child to place the blame for their failures upon others. One of the benefits of playing sports is learning to accept responsibility instead of making excuses.
Sometimes a call is hard to take for whatever reason. Such times are tests of emotional control. If a player can learn to bite their lip and move on, a parent can learnt to sit quietly for a moment and let the emotion pass. Learning to cope with disappointment is a valuable life skill.
Dont blame the coach for your childs problems or lack of court time. Your childs struggles to succeed are your childs problems. Let them work them out without your interference. A player has every right to ask a coach what needs to be done to earn more court time, for example. But a parent stepping in to demand playing time is another thing altogether.
Please dont talk badly about the coach in front of your child. The worst thing a parent can do is take pot shots at the coach, criticize decisions, and complaining about their leadership. Support the coach and stand behind their decisions.
Please dont razz the other teams players. The other teams players should be considered off limits. Yelling at or deriding someone elses child is a shameful practice for an adult at any sporting event. Parents who intend to disrupt, distract or upset players exhibit the worst of poor sportsmanship.
As a parent, be involved in a positive way. Attend your childs games as often as you can, Cheer for all the kids on the floor. Help with fundraising, assist with bench duties.
There is probably a hundred ways to be a good team member and a GOOD PARENT at the same time. When the large definition of team is working well, the experience can be wonderful for everyone involved.
This kind of teamwork perpetuates itself. Once it gathers momentum it can be quite a force, IT JUST TAKES PARENTS WHO CARE.
There's also a rule that State Coaches cant coach their children (for very good reasons) and that appears to be the problem here...the percieved one at least. It worked with Lindsay and Andrew Gaze but it didnt work with Brendan and Daniel Joyce. (The talent levels and the coaching abilities/integrity are miles apart)...but you get the point. Have seen dozens of Fathers coaching sons in Junior basketball and it very rarely (if ever) works. Not fair on the kid actually to have their parent coaching...everything they do or dont do for the season is met with scepticism because the parent has placed them in that position. Very hard for a parent with unfulfilled ambitions or who wants their child to achieve whatever they did or didnt to be able to objectively view their child's ability and make the correct decisions with regard to the overall team and/or Association's program. Shame really because the kids probably good enough to be a valuable team member but instead is viewed by the public for all the wrong reasons. A recently retired good coach told me he will coach again when he can get a team from an orphanage.

Let your kid make their own way and own their own achievements. Get a life yourself and stop being a control freak. Trust me, your kid will thank you for it in adulthood.

The majority of coaches start out purely because their kid wanted to play ball
If your kid has any talent and wants to play to a high level you better look out for them cause no one else will. If mums and dads dont coach there is often no one else to step up because they have no connection or interest
You get a bunch of half baked rep coaches that dont know shit telling your kid what to do. Mostly they just want to win a game.
People who have played to a high level and who get into coaching because of their children have a huge amount to offer all those they coach. They usually stay in the game for years and are a huge recource to the basketball community and should be celebrated
Some parents can coach their kid and others children brilliantly and others not so well you cannot have a blanket rule as you will lose many brilliant coaches
An unhappy by product is those like yourself that think they know it all and undermine you from the sidelines

Umm...what you mean is no one will look out for your kid like you will...so jump in there and take control of the situation so your kid gets what you want for them. Stuff the others and the Association they play for. Half baked rep coaches are probably rep coaches because they know what their doing AND coach without favour for their own kid (otherwise they arent rep coaches long)
And what;s wrong with winning games? Isnt that why they keep score?
If you dont like the coaching your kid gets from someone else, take them elsewhere...if their good enough to get a game WITHOUT your coaching.

The best option is to ignore morons like you and just get in and do the job properly If you have the ability
The biggest problem is that half the parents who dont coach think their little johnny is better than he or she is. Have no understanding of the intricacies of coaching and think they know better even though they dont have the balls to coach themselves
I would suggest you come under that category

Anyone have predictions as to which teams will play crossovers? When are the crossovers being played? I thought Runaway Bay and Brisbane Silver will fight for a birth in PL????
From the PL side of things, whoever loses the GC Breakers and Redlands game will be either 7th or 8th. The other team will probably be SD Titans, unless they can knock off GC Waves and then they'd need Redlands to beat GC Breakers. If titans lose, they'll be 8th, cos they lost to both Redlands and breakers, so they have the tie breaker over the titans.
Looking at SC, it'll be Maroochy and Bris Silver, both teams are 2 points clear of runaway bay, bbi have a bye (so they get 2 points) and maroochy play maroochy 2. Even if maroochydore lost to their 2nd side the'yd still be 1 point ahead of the bay.
So it'll probably end up being
Maroochy v SD Titans.
Bris Silver v GC Breakers/Redlands

And the other half of the parents DO have an understanding of the game. The standard of BQJBC coaches ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous. Many parents have had their kids coached by excellent coaches, and can easily see when the standard is lower. Remember that we all pay our associations many hundreds of dollars per season when our kids play rep. ball, and we should expect a reasonable standard of coaching. How many coaches of junior teams this season have no coaching certificate?

If your such a good coach and have so much to offer to the sport then why do you have to coach your kids team? Im sure there are plenty of other teams that could use your expertise and it avoids alot of 'political' issues.
There are also alot of great coaches that don't have kids involved in the sport in any age group, hell some dont have kids at all. Quite often they are exactly whats needed as they arent biased and are there for the love of the game and the kids they coach.
I also agree with the previous posters comments; basketball is a team sport, and yes they do keep score for a reason. However every kid should be getting developed individually as well. basketball has 2 aspects, the team concept and the individuals performance. Team USA learnt the hard way that 5 great individual players don't make a great team.
Individual development must be particularly done in the lower age groups . With a huge emphasis at club level. A rep coach is usually 'sacked' for under performance and that comes in the form of W/L ratio.
There is no easy answer to the above debate and the sport needs as many volounteers as it can get. A little more understanding from all sides of the fence would help.
In regards to Logan though they need to stop publicicing all their in house issues. Thats just plain silly

Your spot on 2Cents! If you want to coach basketball (for the right reasons) and are any good at it then why do you have to coach your kid? if you want that "connection" take up fishing, golf, surfing, running etc together where you can have your 'connection' without your personal parental bonding impacting on ten other kids basketball experience.

OMG you parents are not going to let up are you??????
Nate got job because he was the most qualified, AND ready to dedicate his life to the next 6months of coaching TO YOUR SON. Give the guy a break with this attitude penetrating thru the ranks no wonder the team is slowly sinking. Shut your mouths and give Nate your support or this team is going to suffer big time.

It was simply my 2 cents about the sport and coaching based on what an earlier poster had said

josh will make state, but i don't know about daniel. he may be able to think that to win the game he has to do everything for logan but if he gets in the state team i can tell u now, all of the other kids that are in it wont let him and make sure he knows its a team sport. especially corban, macca n tom, as playing at nationals is a whole different level.
daniel can be an awesome player, iv seen him, but if he gets 20 points a game but has to take 50 shots n get 10 in, thats not how basketball should be played.
p.s logan do need to stop using the parents as an excuse as to why they are 3rd and saying that they are interferring. Bbi's team has been "interferred" with, as ppl said they trained too much so they had to cut it down n look where they are....1st. so everyone stop making excuses.

You've got your wires crossed... it is the parents who are blaming Nate for the teams position. Wat do you think when a Logan parent yells at the coach from the balcony "get your f#$% son off the court" during a rep game. Such unsportsmenslike behaviour is in bad taste and a poor example to everyone around especially the team and supporters. Logan parents need to zip up and get supportive of what Nat and Tony are doing with the team.

I am not from Logan but have coached all four of my kids during their rep careers at different times
2 were starters and 2 came off the bench because they were not the best players on the team. During that time 11 players have gone on to represent their country. Several of them had not played for any other coach prior to making those teams. Numerous state players. Several have played professionally and six have recieved college scholarships.
I only coached in the beginning because there was no one else to do the job, however once you coach a player he or she become your responsibility and naturally you wish the best for them and do anything to help them.
I had no desire to coach other than to help out and would have NEVER coached but for my kids playing. I would not have coached another team then as I wanted to watch my kids play
Point being Most coaches get into the game because their kids start playing
They have no desire or time to coach another team and I think this is possibly the greatest coach recruitng tool in existence
Sometimes it does not work out but at rep level they must apply for the job and be approved by others so usually any problem is solved that way
Parents on the sidelines have more chance of being Biased towards their kid and this is one of the trials of the game. Life is not always fair and the game is not always fair but it is a character building exercise either way
I have often been accused of being biased twards my kids by parents who are in fact biased towards their own but I know it is not true
It is far too easy to sit on the sidelines nand criticise but believe me it is a lot tougher to sit on the bench and deal with the myriad issues with good intent and be criticised by ignorant people
Having learned a lot about coaching and having been asked by parents and players to coach. I have now coached several teams without my children being involved.
A word of advice. If you are not happy with the situation. Approach the coach in a polite manner at an appropriate time and discuss what you feel. This almost always has a positive effect and in a worst case scenario you will at least find out where you stand
Discuss with you r child in a constructive way where they stand and put a strategy in place to address the issues
Never abuse the coach or players in public or in front of the child
Do not embarass your child with sideline antics
If the situation is not to your liking use it as a character building exercise
Show respect to all those involved and your child will learn to do the same

DONT FORGET Nate had to choose div 2 players for his premier league team to satisfy association selection criteria at the very beginning and has had to try and fit these lesser players into an actual premier league level of playing so give the poor guy a break hes actually doing well with what he has got.

As much as i like all the logan boys and people, im getting sick of hearing about them and so are alot of other people.
Can we get back to general convosation on U18s Prem. If need be make up your own forum topic and talk about it there all you like...
