if they qualify then YES they are a premier league team

leave them alone and worry about your own association. they have worked hard to get to this level of competition.

more associations should look at redlands as role model to make premier league

I remember way back when Logan association first got up and running and wanted to enter in the BQ junior rep competition if I remember correctly they werent allowed to enter any teams unless they could field teams in both premier and suncup divisions. Does that same rule apply.

i don't even think that rule should've applied for logan. if redlands are good enough to get into premier legue then they will win their games in the grading comp, if not then they aren't good enough its as simple as that. i think we ( the other associations) should just accept redlands as redlands like we do with logan or south west and even toowomba.

Format was different when Logan started, Associations simply needed a team in each age group 12s to 18s boys and girls to compete. Competition has much better structure to it now. Good luck!

I witnessed the game on Sunday, so is Redlands a PL team, based on the game more so than Suns, but it is only one game and both teams were still a bit 'rough'. They certainly played with the intensity required to play at PL level. To be fair to both teams playing, there is still 4 days until grading and alot can happen. All teams believe they have a shot at PL or they would not have nominated. Depends on what is happening between the ears of the players on the day.Good Luck Redlands.

Yes. They have qualified.

Next question. Will Redlands be a force in Premier League?
Any comments?

Despite my interaction with the Redland crew on the Under 16 Boys thread.... I will suggest that they will be very competitive. Its good to have em on board.

Good on redlands for making Premier leagu, but in 18s they have been convincingly beaten in the opening 2 games. Logan up by 50 and Capitals up by 75.

As much as i admire the association in terms of the culture they are beginning to build there, it is still some time before they reach the same level as some of the other associations.

good luck though Redlands

Just for your info, its one step at a time at Redlands. We are developing our club and by no means do we 'expect to be a force in the BQJBC comp. Hopefully next season we will make a few more teams in PL. lets see how it goes.

They are competative in most age groups, and not taken lightly on their home court. Looks like the U16s and U18s will have to fight for their premier league spots come swap over challenge (both 0 wins in premier league).

So what makes you think they would do any better?

a few things...

games stats
win-lose stats
the big hype/talk at start was a big give away now 0 from 4 is big hint

Sd got shafted at gradings!

Coach B
27-11-08, 21:44
Shafted ? you had to win games to make it! hope you beat RB this weekend and we can have a 'rematch'. I look forward to it as do the boys.

Well I hope this development extends to your umpires, bad umpiring is one thing but when it is so totally biased this is not good. Not a good reputation to have hope you fix it.

Redlands are doing everything they need to, to improve in this dept. Maybe you should just fix your own assoc reffing. Our last 2 away games were marred by questionable umpiring.

Take last night for example. We were up 12 -2 against Logan in 4 mins. All of a sudden we were getting punished for our very tight defense and racked up 5 fouls in the next 3 mins.

But I guess we cant have 8th in PL beating the no. 2 team can we. 56 fouls in a game of U16's? Specially when the calls on both sides were soft body contact in the key, and inconsistant body calls in transition. Then they let hand fouls go unless Logan were shooting. Unsportsman foul for a jersey pull, and punish a kid for a hands foul after defense had his jersey with both hands and he just tried to get the defense to let go of him?

As for Ipswich well you an ask anyone from the league what they think.

I like everyone else can pick at refs but at the end of the day teams have to make the best of bad situations on the court. Stop whinging about refferees and let them develop through educating and praise.

I got teched last night for my efforts and am extremely embarrased for this fact. I apologise to my team profusely for costing them 2 shots and possession. And to the referees for acting like a pork chop on the side lines, not really good for a referee to be carrying on like that let alone a coach of junior sport.:eyebrow:

So let me get this straight? its ok to publicly ridicule the refs on this forum, as long as you apologise to them after the game?

Sounds like your suggesting the referees were biased, and thats why you lost.

What is coach B smoking? 56 fouls in this game , Logan received 33 to Redlands 23 so how can you be hard done by , by the Refs? And with Logan having 10 more fouls than you, your team could have had 20 more possible points off posession or free throws. To a reasonable thinking person, Redlands could have won this game due to poor Reffing!
What next? Video Referee to adjudicate when Coach B is hard done by? . Maybe we can have a sound recorder as well to hear Coach B's antics. The Refs might then dish out more techs.

Welcome to the BQJBC Coach. Years of experience will teach you it's sometimes very hard to win at Cornubia and Ipswich. The problem referees have been identified over the years and video footage even supplied in support of the complaints however the refs just circle the wagons and keep paying the offenders. More than one experienced coach has taken the attitude that BQ must want these people more than them and dropped out of basketball.
A bit of advice...edit up a highlights DVD of the questionable/blatant calls and incidents, send it to the referees commissioner and talk to the good referees in the league about what your trying to do to remove the stigma that the minority are bring on the majority. Second piece of advice is..."Stay on your feet and you'll win on points"...Joe Frazier.
Seems like your in this game for the right reasons so the karma will eventually come your way.
p.s. your Redlands boys certainly have the 'sting' and enthusiasm to be champions. could just be a matter of time.

56 fouls in a game is more than one evry minute of basketball. Wake up kiddies! People dont play/coach/spectate to see your whistle blowing style. Did the tech giver get the MVP for refs award?

Come on now, those 2 refs had no right to hold a whistle for a pl game. Both of them were out of their league. 5 level 3 refs there for the 6pm games, but none of them on court 3.
Come on Logan this was a shocking exhibition on incompetence.

Ipswich U18s lost against Redlands at Ipswich on Saturday, forcing them to go to Southern Cup. They (Redlands) have a good team, but I hear that half the team didn't want to go up to PL, so didn't play. They had 6 players. Isn't that disgusting? Well done to Redlands, who despite having only 6 players, and battled the stifling heat, did very, very well.
