First off a big welcome back to Ben Does. Good to have the local basketball site back up and running.
Things are very busy over at Carina this week withe the schools starting on Thursday and running through to Sunday. We are looking forward to some great games. Good luck to all teams.
On the local front we nearly have finished our new referees bonus scheme which will allow referees to gain points by achieving success or doing that little bit extra. We look forward to the REWARDS PROGRAM becoming tha norm in our sport recognising those guys that without we could not play.
This year has been especially busy and most succesful for us. While I will wait until November to do a summary of the year in detail I will say that in 2008 we expect to be even better both on and off the floor. To ensure we are able to serve our membership better we will be making some staff changes and hopefully bringing in new ideas that will make basketball at Carina most enjoyable. Have a read below and if you see yourself fitting in please do not hesitate in contacting Allan on 3843 3133.
Referee Co-Ordinator Monday Night
The position is responsible for rostering of referees for A grade men and women, Wheelchair and veterans competitions. Position starts immediately.
Referee Co-Ordinator Wednesday night
Peter Anderson replaces Wendy O"Brien on this night. Wendy has done a great job but has elected to move on due to her private work committments.
Night Time Supersvisor / Canteen Thursday Night
Allan & Rhondda Ladewig will no longer be running the Thrsday night competition with Rachel Symington returning to the club she left some 20 years ago. Rachel and her husband Scott will ensure membership needs are met as they also work behind the scenes to improve work practice and foods within the canteen. Welcome home Rachel.
REFEREES All nights
As part of our commitment to providing the best service to our membership, in 2008 the referees at Southern Districts Basketball Association will become the highest paid in Queensland for all domestic senior games. This is your opportunity to join the team. Referees who aspire to be part of the new structure commencing January 1st 2008 need to join our rosters now so they can be graded according to standard and offered a contract for 2008.
We will also be inroducing a new REWARDS PROGRAM that will enable referees to buy things through a points system built around hard work and excellence.
