Gladstone getting another import but not sure if he will be cleared, its written on the qbl website game reviews. Still going to be very tough to beat the rockets

round 3 of the game they play in heaven and a few things have stuck out so far.. 1. the gals comp is the best its been years maybe even ever??? 2. no matter who where or how good it is ppl are goin to blame the refs for a loss yea some of them suck but so do some of you players that's life... and 3. i'm just going to thrown it out there... i would like to see womens body suits brought back...

Mackay @ Ipswich
i still dont understand why teams play triple headers, ippy love a bit of push n shove so krugers goin to love this altho he has to save some agro for Sat n Sunday.. jefferies will get 30 but fitznco will get 70 combined then sit back n rest for 4th qtr... $30 on Mets
Mets 3:1 Ipp 7:1

Bundaberg @ South West
Bulls also comin off bye have had some time to get there perimeter D set for this game i'm going out on a limb to say that there will be over 70 3's taken this game with both teams playing Zones... $3 on Bulls
Bulls 2:1 SW 2.1:1

Toowoomba @ Cairns
this will be painful for the mountainboys i hope cairns use some lube Fish by 70... $100 on Cairns
Cairns 1:1 Neers 13:1

Rockhampton @ Gladstone
70 FIREWORKS AND some TNT would not be as explosive as the Powerhouse will be this Satnite... apparently Power Gals are p!ssed off that Rocky didnt thank them for runnin Tville to a standstill so they could get a win last wend so they are going to teach Rockettes a lesson... and as for the boys well last time they played two guys got ejected an i wasn't even there so to say theres no love lost here is like askin KKK guys to hug Obama... $1000 on Both Power teams
Us 2:1 Them 4:1

Mackay @ Gold Coast
war of the NBL vets here Krugs v Mac G but unless FitznCo dont get distracted by the bright lights n hot blondes of Cavill Av on a Satnite they should be fine.. Rassie will topscore this one.. $70 on Mkay
Mkay 2:1 GC 4:1

Toowoomba @ Townsville
Neers if you get a chance head to 70 Flinders st to drown your sorrows dont feel bad its the toughest road trip in Australia for men anyway.. $100 on Ville
Ville 1:1 Neers 8:1

Bundaberg @ Gold Coast
first Double home game i've seen and i know i prefer sleepin in either a chics or my own bed if i'm going to be playing Ball the next day so as cute as Kyle K is that gives GC the edge to hurt Bundy here... with both teams tired i'm sayin 70 fouls called with GC shootin a better FT %... $2 on GC
GC 2:1 Bulls 4:1

Mackay @ Northside
Wiz at anytime is tough but after 2 games in 2 nites i dont like FitznCo chances of pullin the triple off.. after 2 games Cam T has already scored 70pts this season i'd say he'll get to the triple by the end of this one... $20 on Wiz
Wiz 2:1 Mkay 5:1

Maroochydore @ Brisbane
i heard there was actually going to be a crowd at Auchenflower for this one oh wait Suchy isn't working there anymore and the promotions guy forgot to advertise well maybe 70 ppl will show up.. $5 on Caps
Caps 2:1 Clips 5:1

With the Federal Budget being announced soon we really have to boost the economy so my mate Matt "Bluey Jacko" Jackson will be taking your bets in goold old aussie dollars so send in a Pineapple or two to help get our country back on financial track...

"1. the gals comp is the best its been years maybe even ever??? " Possibly agree, the QBL doesn't quite reflect the economic times, with the $ available to some clubs to recruit talent. Gladstone surely must have Hurst and Bibby on a very good wicket, Rocky have US import, Bishop (WNBL) and Haynes (WNBL) - we know what a US import costs, Bishop must be playing for $ as SEABL teams surely would have offered $, Haynes is on $ and other incentives. Mackay - Cox wouldn't be playing for free, Tolo although local (and good on them for signing her) would be on some sort of retainer...I hope it keeps the league strong - will certainly make the North Conference playoffs/match-ups great value. The South might just be playing to make up numbers.

Interesting to see if Tolo and Cox play all three games this weekend with an Opals tour the next week. Hurst in similar situation, but not three games. The risk of injury in three road games is a big call with an Opals spot up for grabs...huge call. Wonder what Graffy is telling them vs. local administrators. It will make the season interesting seeing who is available on any particular night - going to be some great games - thats for sure.

Agree with other posters that if you get the chance to get out and see Hurst/Bibby/Tolo/Cox/Bishop and Emma Randall for Spartens in SEABL - get there, cos' they can seriously hoop

So what are people writing off the Townsville girls already after one loss?

Even with him, I'd go with Bundy. South West are a great small team, but I don't think they will surprise too many teams this year, who would've figured out how to counter them. Bundy by a small margin.

Well thats an interesting question. The race is certaintly on between Townsville, Mackay, Rocky and Gladstone to get the two garanteed finals spots, but you would have to assume that North Pool with get 3 spots, so that leaves one of these quality teams out of finals. Im gunna say townsville will be there, they dont loose any players to Opals, which is a danger time for the other 3 clubs.

In the South Northside look to be front runners (which is a big turnaround from last year).

I think Brisbane may have a say in that. Opals players departing for three weeks will have a huge impact on win lose ratio.

Struggled against the Clips for 3 quarters last week when Clippers had but the same 5 players all game and put their 2 U/16's in about a minute to go. Very beatable I thought.
Clips with Shannon Profitt, Amy Brown, Courtney Brown and the All Conference scorer from Newberry, Mikala somebody could rattle a few cages as the season goes on. Stringer had her shorts in her hand and high heels off at 3/4 time last week but decided against it. Wonder how long that "indecision" will last?

Beijing Olympian Rohanee Cox and teenage centre Marianna Tolo spearhead a powerful Mackay Meteorettes team in tonight's round three match against the Force at the Ipswich Basketball Stadium.

Ipswich's men's team also faces a tough challenge when they take on Mackay.

Still without key big man Ryan Stolberg, the Force will again call on Steven Broom to lead the way against a Meteors side featuring former Singapore Slinger John Fitzgerald.

i think a few of those guys out at the switch need to realise they've got some big guys standing in the key goin to waste. do i think they would have won if stolly was playin, no, but not sure the game would have ben over in the first 12 mins should have asked for my money back and gone home to watch the end of the footy. round 1 stolly scores 31 at a good % broom has solid enough game for a win over toowoomba. round 2 no stolly broom has great 1st half hardly gets a look in the 2nd and ippy blow a lead and lose to south west shooting fade away crap from outside. round 3 broom top scores shooting at 60% on 15 shot attempts should have been more like 25 - 30 shots? i hope stolly is back next week and he demands the ball inside, he and broom should be hard to stop against most teams but need the ball to get up the court and get inside for it to happen. tough double header next week for ippy hope they put on a better show on sat vs townsville and stolly makes his comeback on sunday for a win over the gold coast. terry you brought in the twin towers how bout using them effectively? one frustrated spectator signing out

Looking forward to watching tomorrows game against Gold Coast, you think being beaten by 25 tonight is bad, I'm predicting a 50 point drubbing tomorrow. Matt Hanson had a solid game, Moore ok.

Can't see you winning many games this year with that starting 5. Just a question Vdogg, how many training sessions are you doing a week with this team as there doesn't appear to be any harmony amongst the players.

terry is struggling to come to terms with senior basketball. he is making some bad decisions with his subs and team structure. how u can keep a player on the court for 43mins and his turnovers are higher then his points and assists has me spell bound. Luke cann is a one out fade away king of the ippy force and he has not fired at all. yes they are missing stollie badly but the coach is play guys out of position. BJ Dakis is a point guards arse whole who has no idea about team play structure and running the point.' he is a street baller''. sort your shit out and things may come together. very frustrated spectator!!!! 49 points in a quarter come on.

Good to see the mountain men still up to old tricks. Acouple of weeks ago the comment was made that they are the only true local club left in the QBL. This might be the case but the fact is with this team they would have a hard time in D league. This year they have no import no David G. But what do they need those guys for when you have the stars like Steve Glover & Scott Mazzanti. The only light was Cliffard who seem to find the hope. Time to wake up Toowoomba and stop mounting the local bars.

Unbelievable!!! Yes they are a team of locals! Do they big hearts??? YES!!
It amuses me how many idiots come out on this forum - and yes you are an idiot. The Neers knew they would struggle this year - do they train hard? do they come out every game and give it their best shot??? YES!!!!!! Not easy when they are beaten week in and week out. I feel sorry for Steve Glover and Scott Mazzanti. They don't think they're stars - just out there havin' a go....................................more than we can say for you!!!!

Get a grip mate! or maybe you already have one!

Meteors send Force crashing to Earth (http://www.qt.com.au/story/2009/05/12/meteors-send-force-crashing-to-earth/)

MIKE McDaniel is forever the optimist.

Despite the Ipswich Force falling to a humiliating 39-point defeat to the Mackay Meteors at the Ipswich Basketball Stadium on Friday night, the veteran guard still believes a spot in the QBL playoffs is within reach.

While keen for more game time, the 40-year-old American native respected coach Terry Lindeberg's decision to reward players who put in during the week.

“Coach has a lot of integrity. I can only get to one training a week because of work so coach is giving more time to others who can make that commitment,” McDaniel said, after playing just over half of Friday's game.

“I'd like to play more, but it's the coach's decision.”

To be any hope of improving their 1-2 record, McDaniel said it's vital players understand their roles rather than trying to do everything themselves.

“We need to work on our team chemistry,” he said.

“We're not taking the right options and playing as a team.

Dolphins special bond on court (http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2009/05/12/42045_local-sport-news.html)

LIKE mother, like daughter.

That certainly seems to be the case for Jenny and Teyla Evans who have hit the court together for the Cairns Dolphins in the Queensland Basketball League.

Jenny, who turns 42 later this year, returned to the court this season for the first time since 2004, along with daughter Teyla, 15, who is making her senior QBL debut.

toowoomba playing both bulls and clippers next week. "highlander, there can be only one", that is one team with no wins after next week.

Unless the Neers win both :D

Even though i don't agree with nagas on everything, his value to the league is unquesitoned and i'd just like to give him props on his numbers so far this season, hopefully he can continue it for the whole season and get gladdy into the finals.

To what point. Justed because these guys are locals does not mean that this is the way the comp is now. Every team in this comp has had its good years and bad years. I think it is great that we still have local teams in the comp but how is it fair on the neers getting smashed every week or on the other teams that have to go up to Toowoomba. maybe its time to look at the min requirments to be in the comp. Neers to win this weekend

thanx mate i'll look into it although i think my boss would miss me if i wasn't sitting at my computer listening to my radio all day i'm also on facebook alot if you want to mention that...

what could you possibly get out of baggin a team of locals thats bein beaten by 50+ pretty sure the players aren't the ones who pay for the imports to make them more competitive... they could just give up an stop playin like some of the taipans did this year when they lost ther money but it's a positive that the league is so strong now...

an thanx ol mate dont mind if my stats go down as long as our W stat goes up...

Having seen the Toowoomba men play against Cairns this past weekend I must say that they had a never say die attitude and did not give up, even though the result was a foregone conclusion. With the number of kids and young people watching the game let's hope this attitude rubs off on them.

Just wanted to pop on & stick up for the Mountain boys... if anyone knows what you're goin through it's me & hedgy & co after last season.. hilarious how everyone is having a go at you, "How dare you not have an import"! Was actually surprised the margins against Cairns & Townsville were so big.. funny how things could be different you guys obviously did a good job against Ippy in round 1 and if you'd found a way to win that one and got the confidence up I'm sure you would have had better results the 3 games since. Toowoomba have always relied on locals and have been successful for as long as I can remember. Hopefully you guys can regroup and get a W this weekend, although make it against the rum drinkers not the Mdore boys lol. If Glove and Reimann can get hot I'd say they are a chance in Bundy.. good luck to Luke P and the boys for the rest of the year.
