That's a bit over the top.
I don't think it was that much of a shock they lost to Gladstone (solid frontline) after a tiring trip, and minus Barty - meaning Latts and Benny had to do all the bigs work. Let's not forget they have dusted Townsville off previously. I'll take your money if you think Coastal will pump them by that much ... Nagas you got some odds for me?
ps: not a bad shot there by Kingma

Great shot but how lame was the crowd's reaction. Most people didn't even get to their feet. Someone hits that shot in Rocky, they would have torn the roof off. Come on Gladdy. Get behind your players.

SATURDAY
Brisbane @ Coastal --- I like Brisbane to take down the high-flying Suns.
South West @ Northside --- Tragardh to dominate, no match-up for him.
Mackay @ Toowoomba --- Mackay will blow it out then freeze.
Ipswich @ Rockhampton --- Rocky to continue unbeaten run.
Gold Coast @ Maroochydore --- Close game this... I'll take Clippers by 6.
Gladstone @ Townsville --- Long trip, closer than last time but Heat win.
SUNDAY
Mackay @ South West --- Meteors will need to focus but too much power.
Gladstone @ Cairns --- Save fuel money and head south Power.
Ipswich @ Bundaberg --- Interesting game... Imports get Bundy over the line.
Northside @ Gold Coast --- Scotty Mac and Cam T to have a shoot out.
Tough trip on Gladstone to bus it to Townsville (approx 10 hours) play Saturday night against ann up-tempo team then drive to Cairns (4 hours) and play the league's best. Then drive home (14 odd hours)

Bus ride home will be the highlight of the weekend for the gladdy boys in this one!!
Don't write off the caps just yet - they are far too experienced not to win games, I expect them to not only compete with Caboolture but they knock them off.

pg K Williams - aussie squad
sg J fitzgerald - work horse
sf A Grabau - will put anyone in this league on lock
pf M kingma - I love the big guy
c C Tragardh - 105 points this weekend enough said
Bench
S cook - handles are great
D vale - solid
R martin - can play 1 or 2
C toovey - wears cut off jeans and fixes his hair every play, athletic much
A susnajara - great banger
S macgregor - need a veteren
T Blanchfield - Development spot
thats with out imports, still many good players that could play roles to fit this team. majority of the players coming from the north cuz they are the the best teams.

By the way my team, since i should back up what I say:
Cook/Grabau/Tovey/Cam T/Justin Brown
Martin/Guerney/Fitzgerald (just over Vale)/Susnjara (just over Kingma)/Blanchfield
I was going to say Broom, but after Lloyd Lewis and Anthoyn Labka neutralised him in Bundy I will pass on that stinker.
Chuck an import big and an import point guard on that team.
I kind of want to put Olah in, more long term promise then most of the guards on that list.

I will pick a squad...
Point Guard: Cook (lacks size and flare however), K Williams (Love his speed and attitude, lacks jump shot), Teys (Lacks athletisicm or speed but is very smooth)
Shooting Guard: Fitzgerald (Great defender and gunner), Vale (Speed and athletisicm is an issue but has a nice stroke), Grabau (Lock-down defender and can hit a 3-ball).
Small Forward: Tovey (Far and away the best wing man in the league), Golson (Not an NBL calibre import but best in QBL), Cameron (I'd take a shooter)
Power Forward: Brebner (Can spread the floor and rebound), Susnjara (Can rebound, hit the open three and loves to bang), Hanson (A flat-out scorer who can board).
Centre: J Brown (Can flat-out dunk the ball, nice hands), Tragardh (Proven scorer at both levels), Broom (Only on his upside basis, rest of game needs work)
Also, expected to see Mick Cedar in uniform for Townsville this season. Not sure how soon.
Anyone think it makes Townsville final-worthy.
Susnjara (Can rebound, hit the open three and loves to bang)
J Brown (Can flat-out dunk the ball, nice hands)
Susnjara - poor rebounder for his position, doesn't love to bang, instead copies Latts and pops threes.
Brown - nice hands?!?! They were calling him Edward Fryingpanhands when he was in the NBL.

Starters:
PG - Rhys Martin - It's a tossup between him and Cook for the starting spot. Martin just seems like a more versatile player and more of a point guard to me so he gets the nod.
SG - John Fitzgerald - I'm picking blind here as I've never seen the guy play. Could easily go with Grabau here
SF - Cam Tovey - Going great in the QBL but we've all seen him at NBL level which makes me believe that he's getting by on his height and length advantage a bit here. Still hard to go past him unless you go smaller with Fitz and Grabau together in the 2 and 3 spots.
PF/C - Cam T is a lock for one of those spots. Probably then have to go with Brown, Susnjara, or Wookie to round out the starting 5.
Bench:
PG - Kerry Williams - Whether you take Martin or Cook to start you will still want Kerry backing up to give you a different look.
SG - Grabau/Fitz - Whoever doesn't start
SF - Dwayne Vale
PF/C - Brown/Susnjara/Wookie - Whichever 2 don't start.

Attitude key for Townsville Flames (http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2009/06/01/56565_sport.html)
A POSITIVE attitude assisted Townsville Flames to a 19-point (91-78) victory over the Gladstone Port City Power on Saturday night, said coach Mark Wrobel.
...
In the men's game, Townsville Heat put their last two losses on the road behind them in a 109-89 victory over Gladstone Port City Power.
Crocodiles player Cameron Tovey was again a standout for the Heat, hitting 24 points and pulling down 15 rebounds to assist them to their 20-point victory.

Marlins do the right numbers (http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2009/06/01/44915_local-sport-news.html)
THE Cairns Marlins basketball team do not define success and failure by the numbers on the scoreboard.
The numbers showed they won yesterday in a 121-59 thrashing of Gladstone Power to maintain their unbeaten Queensland Basketball League record after seven matches.
Numbers alone do not influence coach Aaron Fearne. But he was a happy man after yesterday’s win as the Marlins reaped the rewards of three weeks’ hard work on the practice court.

ROCKHAMPTON Stadium Nightclub Rockets point guard Rhys Martin had plenty of reasons to smile at Hegvold Stadium on Saturday night.
Martin was simply on fire for the Rockets in a 136-92 demolition of the Ipswich Force in their round six QBL men's showdown.
“Rhys Lightning” gave NBL clubs courting his services for the upcoming season a timely reminder he is one of the best young guards in the country with an MVP performance.

Susnjara is defintely a big banger. He was picked up by the Crocs purely on that basis. He will out-work anyone and loves the contact.
Brown's hands are reasonable, I think you will find the guys throwing the passes are the guys handing out that name. Poor passes not caught then they trow some blame.
Fitzgerald v Grabau is many people's decision at shooting guard, Fitzgerald is younger but needs the ball in his hands alot.
Kingma is not in this line-up, people inserting him is a poor choice, his conditioning is well off NBL level.

Force endure horror QBL road double (http://www.qt.com.au/story/2009/06/02/force-endure-horror-QBL-road-double/)
FOUR games, four losses.
That was the wash-up from a weekend the Ipswich Force would rather forget.
As has been the case all season the club's women's team put up a fight.
The same couldn't be said of the men, who were completely outgunned by the Rockhampton Rockets and the Bundaberg Bulls.
While Ipswich's men's team can forget about the playoffs, the Force women are still well in the hunt despite the weekend's results.

I think these boys and a couple of others have been left out due to the pre worlds tourny in Melbourne and world cup so close to the Boomers camp .there is no way in the world that you would take Cadee and Greenwood in front of the best 2 Guards in oz (Delly & Page )for their age ,no disrespect to the other 2 boys they are very talented but they are not of the same standrd as the senior 2 guards at this stage of their careers , even Brokoff was left out and he would easily be the best 3 man in u/19`s , you have to remember the Emus have a tough schedule coming up Tour of France were they will compete against a number of countries heading to the world champs including the USA , on their return they have a short break before the pre worlds in Melbourne and with the Boomers camp in between and then head of to the world championships , the the Emus coaches are just making sure their big minute players Delly.Page, Brokoff& Young are not burnt out and carrying niggling injuries, These guys will have ample opportunities in the future to be a part of thse Boomer camps

I watched the first quarter of the Wizards v Pirates game. To be honest I thought the video quality was poor - I couldn't make out who most of the players were. I certainly wouldn't pay for this service.
my 2 cents
1- Williams n Cook easily best 2pgs in the game reece is yet to do much at the next level b4 he gets the nod in front of these two...
2- Fitz n Grabau workhorse n great D
3- Toovey n Vale both av size n game over any other 3 man in league
4- Sunsjara good outside shooter with inside game
5- Kingma n Cam t you would av to be puffing muffins to choose any1 else
would have golsen in ther at 4 for my one import spot

Yeh I dont think any of them are particularly phased about it in fact at least one of them reckons he's "not ready yet". Think they're just fully focused on the Worlds right now. After the Oceania series and particularly the U/20 Nationals I'd rate Christian Salecich up on a par with "Rowdy" Broekhoff. Christian has probably the best defensive ability on the squad and one step over half way is within his shooting range.
Like you say, full props to the guys who made the first draft (Motum/Ellis/Cadee/Greenwood) but all these guys have a lot of basketball between the tour of France (leaving today), the 4 nations in Melbourne last weekend of June, the Worlds in Auckland a few days later then off to Colleges after graduation. Would be great if somehow the QBL could "SOMEHOW" gain NCAA sanctioning as an approved Summer League and our Aussie new bloods could play in front of Australian crowds in the northern summer recess. a.k.a. Blanchfield, the other 6 or 7 of the current Queenslanders from that program spread across the League would be a great profile boost for the QBL.(Has there ever been that many Queenslanders in a National team before?) Motum/Salecich/Young/Page/Hodgson/Bairstow then Blanchfield/Hill/Teys/Heugher also of the same standard would create some interest. cant see it happening anytime soon but.

Hey Landy will the quality of the video get better in this one and is there sound?
quality will certainly get better, and there is sound in this game
Not that Rhys needs anyone to defend him, but that's dumb Nagas. Did you see any games Rhys played or are you just judging by stats? Rhys played the perfect back-up point guard role, did not make mistakes, shot the ball at a very good %, penetrated and got into the lane and made plays for other guys on the team. Other guys who aren't bad like Franklin, Campbell, Saville, Rychart, Tragardh and Petrie. Think it was just a matter of him having a very different role to Kerry Williams but he still did it very, very well. Now that Woolongong look like they'll be in the league I would be very surprised if Rhys didn't get a gig either back there or Joey taking him at Goldy.

Agree. Rhys could hold his own in any team in the NBL but sometimes theres more to basketball than just basketball. Joey signed Gibbo yesterday.

Sad but true. Of course individual programs could apply as "development centres" or such (a.k.a. the AIS dispensation in SEABL) but hard to see it happening twice in the same country especially when there's no academic education of athletes involved...unless the number of athletes who are NCAA potentials increased markedly and 2 were needed AND Educational institutions came on board? Maybe Larry will come up with a solution when he's got the NBL up and running.

If the whispers are true and they are getting very loud Northside are about to or have signed Adam Gibson and will also pick up Tim Coenraad when he returns to Australia. Both were going to sign with Spartans but they would not have gotten enough games up to qualify for finals. This will make QBL Championship very open. Looks like Cairns and Rocky have a new boy on the block as far as being there at the end. Both players will remain in Spartans program for training purposes it is understood.
damn that will def make them top team of the south if they can gel... hopefully they sign Gibson for next weekend onwards :)

News to me, but 'WOW' if true.
and they will play for free just like Dusty was going too because they love the game!!! lol
I hope they do come play but does that mean they will train with northside or just take mins from the guys who train hard? also wonder if they will gel well enough to beat rocky and cairns???
will be good to see thses guys in QBL and not seabl so hope they do play!
imagine if spartens had these guys aswell. WOW

Of course they will train with Northside. They will train tuesday thursday nights with the team and workout individuals with joey during the days. They won't take mins from guys who are working hard. Northside just thought that they needed more firepower so they went and got it. Josh darragh is doing a great job at the point so id say gibbo will slot into the 2 but they can mix it up. coenradd and davis will share time at the 3 but coenradd can also play 4 as he is 6'8 and long and athletic. Zaremba in the 4 who is getting better every week and cam in the 5. Don't see them taking long to gel at all.
Nice comment bout the dusty thing crack. Gibbo is flyin in next thursday for training at nudgee college then the weekends game so you can come out and watch if youd like? Then Coenradd is back from the states the week after. Oops I forgot to tell you gibbo has already got his transfer from dragons to wizards and signed.
