Yeah it would be due to the long weekend. Great idea I think. Maroochy generally experience good patronage for their night games, so smart move on their behalf.

I must say that the discussion in the previous thread about who could potentially form an All-Star squad was very interesting. With only a few games played I think it's too early to make a solid call, but at the very least the discussion shows what a great pool of talent we have playing in our competition this year.

For what it's worth, here who I would go with in a twelve man squad. I have no doubts my thoughts will changes with another six weeks of play.

Starters
F - Cam Tragardh (NOR) - Another MVP-candidate season. Two 50 point games in a row against reasonable opposition last week, first time in league history?

F - Matt Hanson (BUN): Stud putting up great numbers.

F - Reggie Golson (RKH): I heard a rumour that he eats young children for breakfast. And their parents for lunch.

G - Aaron Grabau (CAI): Quietly getting things done as he stays in cruise mode for now. Could be putting up bigger numbers, but not required with other teammates currently on song.

G - Scott Cook (MKY): Perhaps the safest handles in the L. Not your traditional point in terms of dropping dimes, but a very reliable scorer and defender.

Bench
Rhys Martin (RKH): Great player, will give him more credence when Rocky gets a few more games under their belt.

John Fitzgerald (MKY): Everyone knows what he does by now.

Duncan Milne (COA): Handy big who knows his limits. Pulls down boards and has a nice short/mid-range game.

Cam Tovey (TSV): Generating a lot of hype. Townsville need his numbers badly on a team with few recognised scorers.

Mike Kingma (GLA): Comments are correct that he is not at peak fitness, but still a large body to have, and capable of putting up mammoth numbers.

Dave Gurney (GOL): Capable of playing a few positions. Continues to shoot well (is prolific from downtown so far) and a decent boards man.

Scott McGregor (GOL): Am happy he's 'stepped down' to have a run. Potent triple-double threat (have we had one yet this season?).

Heavy consideration to
Shane Davis (NOR)
Jason Cameron (SW)
Justin Brown (RKH)
Mark Ferguson (BNE)
David Bartholomaeus (BNE)
Dwayne Vale (CAI)

Courting duo live for basketball (http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au/story/2009/06/05/courting-duo-live-for-basketball/)

When Justin Brown and Sarah-Jane Knox hit Hegvold Stadium tonight, the basketball couple will celebrate a courtship which began in Perth three years ago.

Brown, 29, and Knox, 24, will suit-up for the Rockhampton Stadium Nightclub Rockets and Hog's Breath Cafe Cyclones respectively in their round seven QBL games against the Caboolture Suns.

Knox is gradually finding her feet after returning to the court this season with the Cyclones, who welcome back Australian Opals star Abby Bishop from national duty tonight.

looking at the stats in rocky it doesn't look like there are too many opportunities for the locals with 3 of the imports playing 48 minutes and if it wasn't for aucoin getting into foul trouble early and fouling out i am sure he would have played the full 48 as well.

so everybody is playing for one spot or hoping someone get's in foul trouble.

EXCITING Ipswich Force teenager Lachlan Jones has been handed the daunting task of stopping Toowoomba Mountaineers sharp shooter Steven Glover in tonight's QBL encounter at the Ipswich Basketball Stadium.

The 1-7 Force held off the winless Mountaineers in round one 111-99, but Terry Lindeberg's side go into tonight's rematch severely undermanned.

Leading scorer Ryan Stolberg (broken ribs) and captain Dan Robinson (on holiday) are confirmed scratchings, while power forward Steven Broom is also a doubtful starter after missing Thursday night's training session with the flu.

The game being close the whole way so those guys needed to play 48 mins??? mmmmm so what your saying is that over the years you haven't produced any quality local juniors that are reliable enough to match it with the opposition. Perhaps instead of spending $$$$$$$ over 12 or so years trying to buy a championship the money may of been better spent on producing the LOCAL talent .

Sure this is right, Ryan Jeffries dropped a triple double (45 pts, 10 reb, 10 ass) on Toowoomba.
Yeah, it's only Toowoomba, but a great effort all the same. Valuable win minus Stolly and Robbo.

saw matty hanson go 0-10 against wizards last night from the arc. when will big guys realize they belong in the painted area and not outside the semi circle.

take note of this list:

Cameron Tragardh 1-7
Dennis Thornton 1-7
Gianni Costantiello 2-13
Brad Rasmussen 4-24
Scott Mcgregor 4-23
Matthew Hanson 17-71
Reggie Golson 6-25
Andrew Latimer 3-12

and the list goes on

Just to throw some stats back at you regarding some of those guys;

Scott Mac isn't even a big he had a 13 year career as a 3 man...
Likewise Golson and Hansen are inside outside guys

I would say pretty much all of those 3pt% stats will be up by the end of the year...

jeffries shot at 69% from the field for his 45, and only took 22 shots as opposed to cam t's 40. I saw the ippy game and jeffries could've easily had another 10 or 15, but was a team player hence getting his 10 assists as well. Don't get me wrong, don't want to take anything away from cam t or any of the others who had huge games, but I think jeffries is an up and comer and deserves player of the week.

Hot meteors are on a roll (http://www.dailymercury.com.au/story/2009/06/08/hot-meteors-are-on-a-roll/)

AFTER their round seven QBL victory against the Caboolture Suns on Saturday night, Mackay Meteors coach Leonard King told his team the game was “a demolition”.

It was an apt way to describe the match, with the McDonalds Meteors looking virtually untouchable against the Suns, who were sitting in third place on the ladder prior to the round.

Campbell and Scott in doubt (http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au/story/2009/06/08/campbell-and-scott-in-doubt-for-meteors-clash/)

ROCKHAMPTON Stadium Nightclub Rockets captain Tony Campbell and defensive stopper Glenn Scott are in serious doubt for this weekend's crucial road trip to Mackay.

The Rockets take on a red-hot Mackay Meteors outfit after a hard-fought 98-83 win over the Caboolture Suns in their round seven QBL showdown at Hegvold Stadium on Friday night.

American import Reggie Golson was the match-winner for the Rockets, with the crowd favourite hitting a game-high 42 points and also collecting eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.

Injured pair Campbell (hamstring) and Scott (ankle) missed the 15-point victory, which was also the Rockets' 20th straight win on the back of their state and national championship winning run last season.

Scott has now missed the Rockets' last two games and Rockets coach Neal Tweedy is unsure whether the starting guard and Campbell will be fit for Saturday night's danger game in Mackay.

Cracker of a mens game up the coast with Maroochy snatching the W from Brisbane. Izzy Tueta can no longer be dismissed as a kid who had a good game. The guy was composed and in control at all times scoring in the paint or from the arc at will. In the last play he had been running so hot the Bris D automatically went after him but Waz had drawn it up for Colby to take the shot and he nailed it.

Suns go down fighting (http://www.thedaily.com.au/news/2009/jun/08/suns-go-down-fighting/)

It was a road trip to forget for the Caloundra Suns men’s and women’s teams as they went down in all four of their matches against Rockhampton and Mackay at the weekend.

The men began their trek north with a 98-83 loss to Rockhampton who, like their female counterparts, are also unbeaten after six games.

I dont think that the other gaurds are playing that awesome atm, it will be scary if they start to get some confidence in their game.

Pretty accurate though thought Zane is playing pretty bloody well and covering a lot of ground 'across the floor' so to speak. Adopted a statesman like role fills gaps everywhere and most importantly gets everyone else involved. Still scores pretty well any time he likes or has to but.

CAPTAINCY brings out the best in Ryan Jeffries.

In the absence of regular Ipswich Force skipper Daniel Robinson and veteran centre Ryan Stolberg, the 22-year-old was handed the responsibility of the leading the Force in Saturday night's QBL match against the Toowoomba Mountaineers at the Ipswich Basketball Stadium.

Jeffries responded with a career-high 45 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in his team's 18-point win. That secured the Force's second victory from nine games this year.

Hahahaha, nah Colby just has the world's biggest shoulders and booty which make him look bigger lol. Don't agree with those putting down the Caps - I agree I thought that they'd be doing better and they've dropped a couple you wouldn't expect but they still beat Townsville and I believe will clearly finish top of that pool. I don't think it's so much about the sharing of minutes, they used to play that way under Scheibs too and were very successful and they're not selfish guys. I think maybe a bigger issue is that other than their loss to Cairns, their 2 losses to Gladstone and M'dore have been on the 2nd leg of a double header. Those veterans maybe struggling a little to back up the next day, great win by the Clips boys though. You'd say it's their grand final this weekend against the Suns, despite being 3-6 they have alot of winnable games on the run home and a win this weekend can put them right back in the playoff mix.

That statement doesnt quite make sense to me. Like me saying, 'Everyone knows I'm a much better coach than the Lakers management think I am. Just 'cause my results dont show it, I cant understand why they havent called?!'

Izzy Tueta for the NBA draft!!! Kids a freakin superstar and doesnt even know it! To think he's willing to play for just about anybody just to get to America. Too cool for school Izzy, go the draft! ... the personal thrill he got from having to make those 3 free throws the other night to ice the game is something you dont see in many players especially a 17 year old. Didnt flinch or hesitate for a nano second just up to the line and lemme at it!! Seeing him strip Benny Castle of the ball in the low post was when I knew this kid had come of age.(By the way I'm the 41st bloke in the line around the block of people who taught him everything he knows!! ) hahahaha
With Zane, Izzy and Scotty Kenny now working in unison, Waz now has his infamous 3 guard front again. Add Dante in there somewhere too for the X factor and better get your running shoes on. All without spending a cent on players.
