View Full Version : QBL 2009 - Week 10
Was only gonna do it one week but had so much fun I'm gonna do some week 10 predictions as well..
Townsville v Bundy
First thing's first, Hanson POTW. Joke! Can anyone give me an objective answer though, Hanson is obviously tough as, how would he measure up to Jay Anderson? Rumour is Lloyd and Kyle didn't travel last week cos V Dogg imposed a no alcohol policy. V Dogg then went about drinking the alcohol Lloyd and Kyle would have drank. I just don't care enough about the Heat to talk about them so I will say Peter Crawford was a massive signing for the Crocs that will help them alot.
Heat by 33
Gladstone v Cairns
What the hell happened last time the Power played Cairns? Expect a much better showing this time. Nagas is feelin good about the way the team is going, but to say the Caps wouldn't be in the top 5, well who would? They beat Townsville.. and to say you guys are top 5, you guys got pumped by the Marlins harder than Miss Steen. Vale's 5 points last week a result of not taking his shirt off..
Marlins by 21
Ipswich v Goldy
Poooor Ippy.. only way they go close here is pump it in to Stolly and see what he can do. Harris and Williams to be disappointed by the talent in Ipswich and see no reason to take their shirts off so leave at half time. Gurney with 30+ and 15+..
Goldy by 32
Mackay v Gladstone
Two sub-par weeks in a row from Fitz, expect him to break out in this one. When Kruger is not on court, which is alot, is Rasmussen playing 5? God they small if so. Nice place to knock back a few bundys after the game while people ask for your autograph, even if you play like ass or register a DNP. Strange mob.
Mackay by 28
Northside v Suns
First thing's first, how the hell is Gibbo supposedly going to qualify for finals? I welcome anyone who can give me a logical answer as I'm under the impression you need to play 8 games? This Wizards team is tough and a legit contender, as stacked as they are don't forget Rocky and Cairns are damn tough 2. Cam will own this one, Gibbo will lock up Ayaji, Suns are going well but don't see this being close. JD to do post-game weights.
Northside by 41
Toowoomba v Brisbane
22 shots last week, that's better Glove but I wanna see 30+ this week. Lukey P vs Daisy, Bullets reunion. Jeans and high black boots always a hot and popular look in Tba. Hammo to travel with the team to relive his uni games memories. Beaky to dominate, team MVP so far in my eyes. Caps BIG
Brisbane by 49
Rocky v Cairns
The blockbuster is finally here. Rhys to outplay Kerry, Glenn Scott to shut down Vale which I wish I could see, Grabau to shut down Golsen, Aucoin to dominate provided he keeps it together. Big wraps for Deba, going nuts this season! 58% fg 48% 3pt 91% ft at 16 a game, he's the x-factor but Rocky don't lose at home and that will continue.
Rocky by 7
Maroochydore v Townsville
300 points combined in this game? Expect run n gun here.. waiting for Zane to explode. This will be closer than ppl think, but Heat with too much class, just.
Townsville by 9
Suns v Townsville
Flip of the coin, see who backs up better from the night before. A win for the Suns puts them right in the playoff hunt. Suns are very relient on Ayaji, so it really depends how he plays but would like to see coach terrance and phillip trust Reed and Andrews more, Rocky having a great year. Tovey will tear it up and get just enough help to get them home.
Townsville by 1
Goldy v South West
I'm banking on Goldy being tired from the night b4 and South West getting a long overdue win against a half decent team. Teys, Niesler and Thompson to lead from the front, contain Gurney and you'll slide home. Gleeson to bench press Teys.
South West by 6

If Cairns is going to lose in the regular season you'd think it would be this week. Game of the round and maybe even game of the year.
Everybody knows Cairns have been killing it this year but did anybody realise that they've only lost 4 quarters for the entire year?!!! Not 1 team has managed to win more than 1 quarter from them in a single game.
Rocky could be just the team to do it though after the addition of Paul Scott last week to help their depth. The draw is in Rocky's favour catching Cairns on the back of a double header, though after the results from Gladdy's last trip to Cairns it may just turn out to be a nice warm up for the Marlins.

representative duty counts towards your games as does injury as long as you are registered before the injury or at the start of the year if you are back mid - late seaon then you are cleared for finals

Gibbo will qualify.
Any games you miss while on national duties (camps or games) count as games played. So right now gibbo has played 2 games (even know he has only actually played in 1) this weekend will count as another game played, then he returns to the country next week to phsically play his 2nd game but really it will count as his 4th.

At a grand a game Gibbo had better qualify. Nice job Wizards bringing a player of Gibson's stature into the QBL. No idea how they afford , Trigger, Conrerad and Gibson but good luck to em.
Will Wizards be the first Southern team since Districts to win the state championship? Definately one of the favorites for 2009 now.

A grand a game thats priceless. Hey while your out could you pick me up a unicorn and some pixie dust? hilarious. Try half that. Don't act like you are in the know because of some rumour you have heard. Then again this whole site is based on silly rumours mostly so why am I hating hahaha. Coenradd looks nbl legit. Wizards just at the right place at the right time. Got him for free cause they bothered to check up on when he was returning and tell him there was a spot there if he wanted it. All alot of players need is some love. If you treat em like shit they will move on. I agree that the wizards could give the L a shakeup but the road goes through rocky and cairns, and brisbane aint gonna lay down either. The top half of the L this yr is sooo strong. Coenradd rumoured to be talking to 3 nbl clubs with the hawks the frontrunner so we could see him in wizards colours with cam for quite some time.
Finals format
26-06-09, 08:44
Sat August 8 QBL Quarter Finals QF's- Top 2 each pool 1st overall direct to SF
Fri August 14 QBL Semi Finals SF's- QF winners + 1st overall
Sat August 15 QBL Grand Finals GF's- SF winner
If the format is that then when do the women play. May not happen but I am thinking Rocky could end up first in both groups. If that is the case that means they have to host 4 finals on teh Friday night prior to teh Grand Finals on the saturday night.
Would it go like this.
Friday 2pm Women Pool b verus Pool C
Friday 4pm Men Pool b versus pool C
Friday 6pm Women Rocky versus Pool A
Friday 8pm Men Rocky versus Pool A
Saturday 6pm & 8pm grand finals.
well word on the street is that Cairns have already booked out the finals if they dont lose a game this weekend dont see anyone else getting them...
since i got a few bites on the last comment i think i'll add my ranking of each team next to their name just to make things interesting....
Townsville 4 v Bundy 12
triple headers would make me hate basketball, llyod (ankle) an maybe Kyle out means it will be all Hans-Solo this satnite...
Heat 2:1 Bulls 5:1
Gladstone 6 v Cairns 1
last time we played these guys it was sort of like a video i saw on redtube involvin a fist n no lube and that was jus from the refs with the tilt on slightly more even terms now im thinkin Simo an Wook to combine for 60pts 30reb and Big fish to eat the fishfood of defeat for the first time this season..
US 2:1 them 3:1
Ipswich 13 v Goldy 9
beach boys vs the bogans... Ippy def av the personnel to be a beta team but i think its the coaches haircut that lets em down that an the fact they look more like hittin each other then the other team sometimes... After Beach boys go on a surfin safari they'l get in a fight with local fans who throw cans at the showers but John Weilands is a Wolverine so that wont be a problem..
GC 3:1 Ippy 7:1
Mackay 5 v Gladstone 6
weirdest game combinations going on this year double home games an a few home an away combo's that dont make sense.. this game will be go off like a looter in a riot whatever that means...
us 3:1 them 5:1
Northside 3 v Suns 8
Gibbo's in China doin us Proud if this his 1st trip i wonder if they have hazing an rookie duties like NRL like you have to go last after all the boys are finished wit her i guess in China they are pretty cheap so he should be right...
NS 2:1 Suns 5:1
Toowoomba 14 v Brisbane 7
neers go hard but i cant kick em while they are down i will say tho 3 pizzas for an after game meal for a mens team is a little like feeding 500 with loaves and Fishes (read the bible if you dont get this one)..
Caps 1:1 Neers 9:1
Rocky 2 v Cairns 1
DING DING DING... if rocky doesn't sell out this game then rocky fans are abysmal it's like having a grand final in your home town in the middle of the year... bigfish to sh!t out a Rocket...
Cairns 2:1 Rocky 2.5:1
Maroochydore 10 v Townsville 4
Clips can do anything at home but not sure if gianinio can guard all the bigs these guys have at once tho... the Cedar boys do have a weakness for surfy blondes an Marcoochydore have em in plentiful supply so maybe then can work out a deal...
Heat 3:1 Clips 7:1
Suns 8 v Townsville 4
like i said triple headers would make me hate basketball, they def have the firepower to take advantage of a tired Heat and I've heard that the MC is pretty good there but unless they go to Fridays with Coach Rose the nite before it's 3 in a row for the Rose Petals...
Heat 3:1 Suns 5:1
Goldy 9 v South West 11
the King of Pop is dead the shock of this will leave SW reeling, giving heartless Goldy their 2nd win of the weekend...
well who would of thought Michael Jackson would die at the ripe old age of 50, i'm sure there's going to be a 1000 jokes come out about it soon but I freakin love the Guy as weird as he was i bet every person who forwards the jokes on has a song of his on their PC, Ipod etc, unless ur an emo or heavy metal freak of course....
RIP MICHAEL JACKSON
lol.. Would love to be up north to watch Cairns v Rocky, imagine it'll tear the place down.
So how's that dr's certificate going Nagas? Managed to find it for this weekend? :D
haha i forgot bout that but its not so cold up here so dont need them this weekend but i do work at a medical service so i might get one jus so i can :)
why's my sig so small how do i make it bigger???

semis dont go on pools they then become
top quilifer (host) v lowset placed qf winner
2nd highest qf winner v 3rd highest qf winner
dont think rocky will hostboth the men and womens finals but i think it would be great to have one assn host like an nba all star weekend could see some of the struggling sides earn some money and give incentives to have good facilities to host such an event

Heat, Flames to fire (http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2009/06/26/60805_sport.html)
The Heat have had a rough ride this week with injuries and player unavailability adding to what's already going to be a tough weekend.
The most notable absentee will be star Cameron Tovey.
Coach Rob Rose is still on his holidays overseas, while Anthony Ferguson (ankle) and Tim Keating (knee) are unable to play.

Coneread is a SD boy there are two reasons he played at Wizards 1. He could not qualify with Spartans for SEABL finals this year. 2. The Wizards are paying him.
Tim will wear Spartan colours next year. Spartans have never treated TC like shit as you alluded too, and he did/does get paid from Wizards, sorry to break it to you. Gibbo a grand a game thats the figure, fresh out of unicorns and pixie dust, believe what you like.
Gibbo and Tim would never have played for the Spartans regardless of whether they'd qualify for the playoffs or not - where would Bruce Palmer have pulled the mintues from?????? The answer is he wouldn't have.

Gibbo was never mentioned. it was about Conerad and he certainly did enquire about playing for his juniour club; SD. Districts would have picked him up but he was unable to qualify for finals, plain and simple. Tim will be in Spartan black next year, no doubt about that.

If the rumours are right and Brisbane are moving to SEABL in 2010 I think you will find all players with NBL aspirations will also be moving to one of the two clubs. The latest rumour suggests that one more team will apply also and they are not Brisbane based but very close.
Coastal @ Northside
Women: Coastal by 10-ish. Only saw the last quarter, but Coastal appeared too good inside.
Men: Wizards led from start to finish to get home by 40-ish. Trigger put up his usual figures and Timmy C scored well, including a swag of triples in the first half. SD had another solid game as did JD. Scoring hard to come by for Coastal after import Duncan Milne lapsed into foul trouble. He had gone ok until late in the second when he got his fourth foul. Everybody else was quiet. My thoughts on Martin Ajayi(sp?) is that he is 'decent' and has an obvious scorer's mentality, but tonight suffered from poor shot selection more often than not.

The suns are a two man team Milne and Ajayi they have excellent shooters in Andrews and the mid range Parry bit don't use them enough.Suns are going down hill quickly enjoy the rest of season.
Coastal's problem is that they ran far too many one-on-one plays and not enough team-structured offence. The Wizards knew who was going to shoot the ball and shut them down accordingly.

Northside Men
Seriously, every post I have read about our team and its players so far is either half truth or complete BS. I ask anyone from our club to cease trying to correct posts on here, as your responses are not right either. If anyone wants to know the complete truth they can just ask me, that is after I have assessed whether or not it is any of their business. As for other clubs believe or say what you wish.
I have to admit though, it is kinda entertaining reading peoples expert opinions, when you know what the real truth is yourself. Other coaches and administrators will know what I mean here.

Well done to Townsville for going 3-0 this weekend without some of their starters.
They must really feel cheated by missing out on a finals spot seeing that they are 9-4 (5th overall) while South West (3-9) or Ipswich (2-10) looks set to make it.

Ayaji (suns) - you would think he would have a shot this week as he had some good numbers but on a loosing team in both games.
M Cedar (heat) - got 3 wins and had a solid game against the clippers.
Scott macgregor (goanas) - Got 2 wins with double doubles and some assists in both, shot at good clip and a few blocks aswell. also has cemented his team in the finals.
Reece martin (rockets) - well they beat cairns and he was up against kerry who was chosen for the boomers squad. had 28points 5 boards and 7 assists.
other honourable mentions, T conread (wizards), J fitzy (meteors), Trigger.
I like macgregor to get this weeks, I think gold caost are better then people were expecting. and will make the second round of the finals....

Goldy should make the second round of the Finals. They only have to play the other Pool C Team in the quarter Final to get there, so presumably SW. They will then play Cairns or Rocky, Season Over.

After watching the Suns play on Sat night It seemed like they rely heavily on 2 imports but I dont know why, they have numbers and a decent bench. I think they may rely to much on them, Wiz were just to good on the night as its the best game I have seen them play all year. Was good to see Benny Mac back for the Suns, first game back after surgery, for some reason just never get tired of watching that guy play. Not sure who will get the finals spots but Im thinking BQ may need to work out a new format for finals as SW and Goldie both wouldnt make the 8.

Things really starting to heat up in the North. Cairns now been topped, Rocky doing a number on the league's best. Mackay absolutely rolling and challenging for the top spot and Townsville going unbeaten in triple-header also with six straight wins.
A very god basketball team is going to miss a finals berth. Format should be changed, top 8 teams should advance, forget about pools. A team that eg. the 4th best team in North (Townsville) would miss the finals and a second team in another pool (Gold Coast or Ipswich) can make it. Heat have blasted both teams this season. A truly unfair system I feel

Do whatever you want next year aftre the Capitals move to SEABL.

Capitals will wanna find some cash because they will NOT compete in the SEABL. They would barely beat Albury-Wodonga or Ballarat. Each SEABL team either has two quality Imports or fully-fledged NBL players. As well as great local depth.
The Spartans are loaded with cash for now and can easily compete with the six or so NBL players they have. The Caps would lose to Spartans, Hobart, AIS, Geelong and Knox by 20+

People forget that Fred with BBI set up the Bullets in the initial years. He drove that just as he is driving the SEABL application. Make no mistake that Spartans expect to lose some players and also realise that other great players in the south will gravitate towards BBI. The south Queensland region has some great players and coaching staff and the better ones now have a pathway to the top through either the Capitals or Spartans. Word is they both already have an alliance with Logan in women and only a fool would think they are not working with the Blaze so the men now have a real pathway as well.
This is great for local basketball. All we need now is another competition somewhere between current QBL and D League and we have the complete pathway without the costs. Finally some sanity as far as a structure goes that will allow our sport to grow in standard. Who knows maybe between the bigger Associations we will now have a true NBL sructure back in Brisbane in a few years. All they need do is keep working together and talking.

Yeah but how would Mackay Rocky The Ville and Cairns do. Seems pointless to play in SEABL when you can get same game in QBL
POW
Ayaji (suns) - you would think he would have a shot this week as he had some good numbers but on a loosing team in both games.
M Cedar (heat) - got 3 wins and had a solid game against the clippers.
Scott macgregor (goanas) - Got 2 wins with double doubles and some assists in both, shot at good clip and a few blocks aswell. also has cemented his team in the finals.
Reece martin (rockets) - well they beat cairns and he was up against kerry who was chosen for the boomers squad. had 28points 5 boards and 7 assists.
Scottie Mac this week's winner of Brooksy's chook lotto.

I think the move to SEABL is about survival for the southern teams who are considering the move. No NBL in town due to lack of money and promotion through media. No ones fault just the issue of small fish in biggest market. The north have Cairns and Townsville leading the way and Mackay and Rocky own the media. Great job getting there north. The problem in the south was that there was only one team in SEABL and the better players rather then play QBL elected to play for Spartans. Lets face it the Spartans have the greater share of the better players competing for them in SEABL. That is no disrespect to the great payers who are still playing in QBL. Loyalty can only go so far when a young player looks at what he must do to get to the NBL living in the south. This will only get worse the longer the situation goes on. BBI have made a huge call and elected to compete against the Spartans in SEABL. BBI know that SEABL works and it is a step towards hopefully getting an NBL team back in Brisbane. QBL does not do it for the public in Brisbane and for majority of southern Associations. BBI will attract players from Blaze and other Associations that is a given. Watch the better players now starting to try out at these two clubs. I think the north need to talk to Spartans and the Capitals in a hurry as it is in their interests to get a resolve on the matter.
Maybe they can arrange a team from Brisbane and Spartans (QBL or SEABL) between them to make sure QBL is main competition in the State. If not I see the four northern powers playing amongst themselves in the not to distant future. Whatever works I say.
Well done to Townsville for going 3-0 this weekend without some of their starters.
They must really feel cheated by missing out on a finals spot seeing that they are 9-4 (5th overall) while South West (3-9) or Ipswich (2-10) looks set to make it.
seems to me i said the same thing last week and got cut down now it's clicked what that actually means for teams like Tville or Mackay and people realise how crap the play off system is..
answers like "do what you like we'll jus play with each other down here" seems to be a little repetitive and backwards thinking...
good job if they can pull it off in regards to the Caps goin to SEABL just a question though with the new NBL season being proposed as a winter season how will this affect SEABL an QBL teams???
Are guys like Cam T Grabau Cedar Fitz etc etc going to be able to still play both??? myself being a newcomer to ABA (6 or 7 years) i cant remember how things worked before NBL moved to Summer season....

Yeah playoffs should probably just be the teams with the best records. There is already a built in compensation for Southern "No sponsorship" teams v's Northern "Rich bastard" teams in the pool makeup and draw.
That said, I think the idea behind the current format was making things as cost effective as possible by keeping the travel down for at least the 1st round of the playoffs. There can be no playoffs at all if teams can't afford to play the games.

As far as the problem of finals go the north just have to cop it on the chin as pay back for the southern teams competing in QBL. Better a few of them compete then the north play each other over and over. The powers that be need to call everyone together, those in favour and those that are not, and have a big chat about where to now. The great Waz had a vision and was willing to work towards it. He knew how to make a deal and he was innovative to say the least. He fought with some but at the end of the day he was able to get on with business if he lost that battle. The peole he relied upon just are not there now. We still have issues not being resolved in Queensland otherwise why are not Districts involved and Capitals looking to leave. Make no mistake if BBI go and join Districts QBL is dead. How will a southern team ever be able to attract a good sponsor and media attention when they learn that the top Associations in the south do not play in the State League. Think about it BBI departing is the second worst thing that could happen to QBL.The worst thing happened when BQ allowed Spartans to leave in the first instance. BQ should have talked rather then just standing aside. One only has to look at how many times BBI people have been at SEABL games watching from the stands or in a box complimetary from Districts to know they are serious. Rumour has it that at least one northern team is also talking to SEABL and if that is correct and they are accepted then it is all over. So for now I really think we have far more important things to worry about then a finals format. The biggest and most important thing that needs to happen is the sport reunited as it was five years ago. Heres a test for you all. Ask your local committees if BBI join Districts in SEABL would your Association play in QBL or join an alternate competition such as the Cross was a few years ago? Associations in the south would be at least $20,000 each better off. Remember no more ACC with no gaurantee that it will return.
with saturday being july 4th - independance day, I am tipping some of the americans in the league to have some big games.....:hifive:

Blah blah blah.
Nobody blinked an eye when Districts left. And they won't if BBI goes as well. The biggest problem will be re-jigging the draw.
Reality is that the QBL (and Qld basketball in general) has gotten a lot stronger over the last couple of years, without someone trying to undermine everybody else all the time. You just have to look at how our top teams have gone at the Nationals since SD left and how our juniors are out-performing their southern counterparts.
Nobody wants BBI to leave (and we would be happy to have SD back) but the rest of the state doesn't rely on your shoebox. As for Brisbane seeking greener pastures, that is their choice. They have to do what is best for their members. It just seems that they are shooting themselves in the foot with that move. They arguably have one of the best junior programs in the country, with little progression opportunities as it is. Following the SD model would be a step backwards you would think, but that is their decision to make.
As for the northern teams leaving due to the playoff system, may I remind you that the SEABL playoff system is no better. From memory (a bit vague) I think that more than half of the playoff teams in one pool had worse records than the teams that missed out in the other pool. The same can also be said for the NBA. Have a look at the teams that missed out this year.
The problem is that BQ keeps showing the combined ladder instead of the Pools ladders. People need to start thing Pools.
I am sure there are ways to improve the current system which may keep the better teams happy and hopefully allow for teams on the other end to continue competing (or return such as Logan), but now is not the time for that discussion.
The one thing I don't understand is why do you feel you continually have to jump on here and tell everybody the world is ending just because you took you ball and left. All your 'insights' have always ended with 'the end of the QBL'. Well guess what, it is stronger than ever.

Mate pretty sure that post is not Alan Ludwig, it is from a pasionate supporter from up the coast. Why the paranoia about Alan from guys like you? He has nothing to do with your "much stronger QBL", just like you appear to like it. Yet it is you and people like you that come on here and blame him for stuff like this. Why not just ignore him and let him get on with his business and you do the same??
I must question you when you say the league is "alot stronger over the last couple of years". Sure the top of the comp is strong and always has been, but you are only as strong as your weakest team. There are some shockers in this league at the bottom. You can not deny that.
Financially there are a lot of clubs doing it real tough in the south? The 15 team format; oh thats right it is now 14 is poor and does not cater for all participants. Tell me when the league was eaxctly the same for more than 2 years in a row? I will answer my own question; NEVER.
I think you may need to get your head out of the sand and have a look around, cause the QBL is not in a healthy state at all.

I don't believe I mentioned any names in my post. In fact I said that every association has the choice to make whatever decision they believe is better for their members.
What I do object to is the need to come on to a QBL forum and continue to shout 'the QBL is dead'.
I agree the State League is not as strong as it was back in the late '80s, and I am sure we would all like it to be 'the good ole days' again, but the bottom line is that the QBL is an extension of the grass roots in Qld, meaning the associations, and as long as there are associations who are looking for an elite level of competition, there will be a QBL.
Sure, there have been changes over the last couple of years as associations change and re-evaluate their priorities, and the QBL have shown it's resilience by adopting to those changes and trying to put forward a product that not only caters for the majority but also tries to encompass the minorities.
The QBL started with 12 teams, and as I am sure you remember, there were years with a lot less, so the fact that we now have 14 is a hell of an improvement, whether those teams are NBL standard or not doesn't really matter. It is not everybody’s agenda to take over the world.
There is no doubt that the SEABL is a great basketball competition, and I am sure most Queenslanders will wish you well in your endeavors, but I don't see why you feel a need to run down one comp to pump up the other.
Peace be with you brother :D
OK SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO USE THIS MULTI-QUOTE THING SO IM JUS PUTTING MY 2 CENTS IN CAPS (JUST SO YOU KNOW I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU)..

SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU ONLY BEEN AS STRONG AS YOUR WEAKEST TEAM, THE NRL HAS ALOT OF CR@P TEAMS SHARKS, ROOSTERS ACTUALLY PRETTY MUCH ANYONE FROM SYDNEY AND YET LEAGUE SEEMS TO BE GOING WELL RECORD LOWS IN SYDNEY BUT BIG CROWDS AN TV COVERAGE EVERYWHERE ELSE...
YOUR NEVER GOING TO HAVE 15 STRONG TEAMS THESE DAYS SOMEONE IS ALWAYS GOING TO STRUGGLE, BASKETBALL PEAKED 20YEARS WHEN MJ WAS KING AND ONLY 5 PEOPLE HAD THEIR OWN SHOES...
Financially there are a lot of clubs doing it real tough in the south? The 15 team format; oh thats right it is now 14 is poor and does not cater for all participants. Tell me when the league was exactly the same for more than 2 years in a row? I will answer my own question; NEVER.
I DONT THINK YOUR GOING TO GET A BETTER FORMAT OTHER THEN SOUTHERN CROSS FOR SOME POOR SOUTHERN TEAMS, AS FOR IT NEVER BEING THE SAME SOME WOULD SEE THAT AS A GOOD THING BECAUSE IT SHOWS THE EVEN IF ITS BAD QBL IS STILL ADAPTING TO AN EVER CHANGING COMPETITION.
I think you may need to get your head out of the sand and have a look around, cause the QBL is not in a healthy state at all.
I THINK YOU NEED TO GET YOUR HEAD BACK FROM FAIRYLAND IF YOU TAKE A GOOD LOOK AROUND MOST SPORTS AT EVERY LEVEL IS SUFFERING.. THATS WHY AUSTRALIA HAS ONE OF THE HIGHEST OBESITY RATES IN THE WORLD STRONG GRASS ROOTS COMP = STRONG UPPER LEVEL COMP...

Pretty sure it is you Alan come on now. So why if the SEABL and Spartans are so far above everything in Qld, do you need to keep coming on here to talk up your team and your conference when QLD and the QBL is in such bad shape??
Not enough caravans and towbars being sold to support your off season NBL boys playing away in Victoria in a competition nobody in QLD cares about?
Cant wait to see BBI follow you and fade from the QLD scene also.

Just quickly, don't want to get into this My league is better than yours crap.....
If BBI go to SEABL, what will they be called, SD jumped on to raise the profile of Brisbane and changed their name to that, and I think their sponsers like being involved with the Brisbane Spartans in this league, I can't seem them wanting to go back to Sourthern Districts?
Any idea's on BBI's name? I don't think that the Capitals could be used either.... Maybe the Bullets name might re surface.....

Actually, the QBL only had 8 teams when it began back in 1986. :)
