going to be painfull for ipswich and towoomba this weekend

will be interesting to see how luke cann goes in his old gym?

only real tough picks this weekend are caps and suns. I feel the caps will get up at home.

maroochydore and bundy, bundy are tough in the stadium and will be hungrey seeing this is a great oportunity to get a win so I am going with bundy here in a close one.

Almost worth driving 6 hours to northside to watch trigger drop 80 this weekend, this should be the first weekend northside a full strength. They will score 180 this time even though there has been much improvement..

Ipswich @ Cairns - Depending on the Marlins mind-set and intensity the Force could lose this by triple figures. Cairns will be seething after a loss to Rockhampton and messing up there crack at a perfect season. Cairns by 66.
Rockhampton @ Toowoomba - Expect Reggie Golson, Justin Brown, Jason Aucoin and Rhys Martin to get there's then let the bench guys play some. Only have to worry about Steven Glover on defense and can run the break as much as they please. Rockets by 60.

SATURDAY
Maroochydore @ Gladstone - Clippers let one slip against Townsville from all reports so will be hungry to bounce back. The Power are a solid line-up and should challenge the top teams more than they do. Expecting a tight one but am liking Gladstone's inside presence. Power by 11.
Ipswich @ Townsville - Luke Cann in his old arena and Steven Broom back in front of the Crocs are the only interesting points here. Small crowd here, poor game. Heat by 44.
Rockhampton @ Gold Coast - Not a bad game if Scott McGregor, David Gurney and Anthony Olah can get it going but the Rockets are too strong and will win by 33.
Caboolture @ Brisbane - Suns made a valliant effort against the Heat but were out-classed. Can more than match it with Gladstone. Ajayi can get his whenever but his team mates need more involvement and Duncan Milne needs to stay in the game and own the glass and paint.

SUNDAY
Rockhampton @ South West - Rockets may be lagging a little after a triple-header but should still account for Jason Cameron and his men by 28.
Maroochydore @ Bundaberg - Clippers are small and agile where as Anthony Labka, Lloyd Lewis and Matthew Hanson like it inside and on the rim. Hanson should eat the Maroochy bigs alive and get his 40 and 20. Bulls by 10.
Toowoomba @ Northside - Could be ugly again here. Don't expect Cameron Tragardh to play heavy minutes and drop 70 or 80. I think he will get his 40 and then let some kids play. Or at least he should. Wizards by 60.

You say Cairns by more than 100 but Northside Over Toowoomba by 60. If Coach Haly plays his bench most of the game, which he probably wont, but still. at least 80-90, at least. Expect a high score. Also, wizards dont have many young kids with most players getting loads of time, so expect a thrashing

Does mean no David for the coast against Rocky, and a few neers boys "under the Weather" against Northside. Wont change the results of those two games, but could stretch the margins

word is lloyd is out for the rest of the season. big blow to bundy and lloyd as he was said to be enjoying the year and has had no run ins what so ever.
news is his ankle ligaments and tendons and completely torn and also had a fracture at base of tibia as a result of the dislocation!

I nearly didn't do picks this week but fueled by friday arv beers let's notch it up..

Ipswich@Cairns

Agree Marlins could win by 100. Ipswich paying Luke Cann appears to fall into the same category of genius as the Pistons signing Villanueva instead of Millsap. Dwayne Vale to record a career high 5 boards, seriously do something other than score. Grabau is my hero and should seriously consider wearing a bra for his enormou pecs.
Marlins by 89

Rockhampton@T'ba

Rhys dominated Kerry last weekend, how bout that! Good chance for Mitch Philp to put up big numbers in this one, I really rate him he is quality. This could also get nastier than a McKenzie sister..
Rockets by 71

Maroochydore@Gladstone

Scott Kenny leaves and takes his 29% shooting with him. McArdle will do weights before, during and after the game while Nagas gets under Dante's skin. Zane has good success in Gladstone and will be hotter than Megan Fox in this one.. ok maybe not that hot
Maroochy by 4

Ipswich@Towny

Cedar could have 80ish if he wanted? I really really hope Stolly is playing this weekend. Mike will have too much pre-game coffee and start twitching while Robbo hits a buzzer beater (to make the score 8-50 at quarter time)
Towny by 56

Rocky@Goldy

Gurney gettin married ay, yep Goldy are screwed. Glove will be more drunk at that wedding than Lily Allen at an awards ceremony. Aucoin to dominate at his old venue. P.s I'm the guy Lily Allen wrote that song about..
Rocky by 31

Caboolture@Brisbane

Ajayi to pass the ball 3 times in this game. Are you not a point guard? How the hell did the Caps beat Tba by 12? Hopefully that makes ppl pick the Suns cos the Caps will win easy. Matthew Roberts will miss his game with jungle fever
Caps by 20

Rocky@South West

I will NEVER pick South West again, they screwed me last week! Pirates miss Kurt Thomson. Rhys to run a muck with Golson, easy win. Pirates have 6 players, Niesler has been more hot n cold than Katie Perry
Rocky by 28

Maroochy@Bundy

Lewis is done, wow they will really miss his massive production! God forbid they lose Labka too.. what an all-star front court. Hansen big numbers but Maroochy too much depth. Maroochy missing Jamie Stow tho, Stefanovic to play the 4 and order fries with that shake.
Maroochy by 19 in triple OT

Toowoomba@Wizards

Coenradd to have 50 n 20, Cam to have 30 and rest. Wizards never have mercy tho n will try score 200. T'ba boys to be hungover dogs and get through the game ok but then vomit heavily after eating the Wizards dodgy post-game food.
Wizards by 73

Time for Townsville supporters to get out and support they're teams. Following the Ipswich home game this weekend the team faces Mackay on a Friday night (a traditional rivalry game, including Kruger returning to town), Rockhampton the following weekend (Susnjara looking for revenge after being ejected in Rocky. Tovey will also be back by then), then they face Northisde with Gibson and Tragardh in town. A bumper three games ahead. Get out and support your local teams

Darumbal then face off with the young Yugerra people this tribe can catch fire an turn people to ash and this is there only chance to beat the Darumbal nation but Darumbal too big an strong...
Darumbal 2:1 Yugerra 5:1

Maroochydore @ Bundaberg

Gooreng Gooreng 2:1 Gubbi Gubbi 3:1

Toowoomba @ Northside
After a massive loss an Corroboree the night before this will look alot like tasmania's indigenous population by the 1900's destroyed...

well it may not be funny but at least its original or even Aboriginal haha sh!t im funny.. anyway congrats to Glover have good one, and if you get a chance to go to a NAIDOC event go have a look you maybe surprised and see that we are all the same underneath the skin..

Eliminating poor patches of play is at the top of the agenda for the Caloundra Suns basketballers when they face the Brisbane Capitals tonight.

The Suns are sitting comfortably in seventh position on the QBL ladder while their opponents are placed 12th.

The Suns may be without American import Traci Edwards, who injured an ankle in last weekend’s loss to Townsville.

OK we are a fair way into the season and I think it's time for some reviews.

Under achievers so far - Bundy (Sorry V-Dogg) but streets ahead of them are Ippi. The mountain men may be last on the ladder but the roster is all local (no offense guys) but Ippi buy in Broom (money well spent lol), get Cann and so on and they can't seem to even beat an egg.

Surprise packets - The Dore, most slagged them off early but they are playing some tight ball.

Just my thoughts to date and over to the educated people of BenDoes world.

Sorry but the coach cant play for them and is only as good as the cattle hes got. im sure if he was coaching the cairns team then your not warranted comments would be different as they would still win every week. Luke Cann has had a shocker this season and Broom is struggling with confidence and shoulder issues and stollie was out for 8 weeks is going to hurt any team in the comp.

Seen the Townsville v Ipswich game tonight. Whilst Townsville played well below their best, Ipswich were also a poor outfit. The offensive system put in place seems to really be ineffective. Leading to many rushed shots at the end of the shot clock. Yes Luke Cann and Steven Broom have had under-performing season's but those two guys are hardly bonafide stars. Cann had a good season in a poor team whilst Broom has a lot of ability and athletisicm yet struggles to score with his back to the basket and is physically light.

As for Towsnville, I think once Cameron Tovey returns they will seriously push for the finals spot. If they can get past Mackay at home without Tovey I reckon when he returns a starting group of C. Cedar, M. Cedar, Tovey, Rees and Susnjara is a dangerous outift with McCully, Tudehope, Jenkins and Durox off the bench. They're a pretty deep team and can rely on someone stepping up on offense each night.

The Heat's next four games are big, home to Mackay on Friday, home to Rockhampton, home to Northside and away to Mackay. They must win three if not all of those games.

steve broom is not a back to the basket player and looks good in a running side which ippi isn't, a double shoulder reco will slow anyone and i hope that he can rediscover a desire to go with a athlete whose potential is still untapped for mine.

I agree that Broom is not a back-to-the-basket type of player but without a consistent jump shot what type of player is he. You cannot rely on being an athlete who can only catch lobs and finish dimes. To become an NBL player he needs to be able to find his own way to score. I think a combination of quick face-up moves on the block is his go

Just got back from Northside v Toowoomba - Northside won by 30. 126 - 96.

Northside's defense inside wasn't that good as that is where Toowoomba scored most of their points. Was expecting a 70 points win. Northside didn't go easy, they were out to thrash. Scrappy Game, 24 Turnovers to Toowoomba's 26 withDavis only hitting 3 from 13. Cam T got 51 with Coenraad with 28. Shooting 55% and 51%. Northside, there first game with the Super 5, Just wasn't that impressive.

Let down on defense. But give it time

Toowoomba only had 7 players too! Probably worked in Toowoomba's favour not having too many bench spots as it gave players like Clifford and Glove more court time instead of being on the bench with the rookies on the court and not doing much. It was a game where more seasoned players got a chance to do more

Looks like the loosing margins for the 'neers are going down. From 70 to 30 against the Wizards (with their full crew) and by only 12 to the Caps.

The funny thing is, after starting with 0-15 they can still make the finals by simply winning their last 3 games, which are all very winnable. Suns, GC, and SW. :D

i guess it was wellos fault they didn't win many games last year, or dannys fault they didn't do much better the year before. it takes more than a couple of role players to win in this league. but i am sure with idots like you that the post will be open again next year so get your resume ready.

You make a good point that it can not be all the Coaches Fault. If that is true and Ipswich believe that, why would the position be available again next year. Sounds like Ippy need someone to be there for a few years in a row to build a program, develop players, weed out any cancers (not saying Ippy does or doesn't have these people, just something that often needs to be done) and attract the right Players to fill holes.

Turning over Coaches every year just enables Players to deny any responsibility and blame the Coach while the same problems keep occuring.

I think Ipswich's playing roster is deep enough to be competitive in the League and beat more teams than Toowoomba this year, so something is definetely not working. The Ipswich Committee need to take a good look at what the problem really is and fix it.

Southwest had a one win season 3 years ago and have made playoffs for the last two years, and probably will again (all be it more luck this year). Nothside have had a similar turnaround (and Paul has been there for all of it), Caboolture are showing good signs of Improvement too.
Gladstone although set to miss the Playoffs again have dramatically improved from where they were, largely because of how hard Blair has worked to build that program up. Mackay have bounced back from a shocker last year to be pushing for top spot too, despite Coach king's critics. I could keep going around the League looking at Teams that have continually maintained strong programs or dramatically improved over the last 3 seasons, so it can be done if the right people are in place and some patience shown to see the results develop.

gota give props to the Clippers young kids, didn't seemed fazed at all by Kingma in the key or the size of the guy playin D just went all out not scared to shoot or drive which is good to see and could be a good base for next few years...

i agree with the not replacing coaches statement you need some consistency in both coaching staff and on your board if your goin to make any improvements to your program, chopping and changing either of those if they are effective will only make you stagnant or go backwards...

you know you have a great finals format if Neers can stil make semi's this far into the season good luck to em...

Don't think the Wizards interior D was the problem champ. Can't remember any mountaineer big man making even 1 post move. And when the did the shot was blocked. However the neers guards pretty much ran around whereever they pleased and made a boat load of penetrate pass layup to their bigs (if you can call them that). The wizards were very soft on the perimeter other than gibbo who was his usual lockdown self. However they r packing some serious firepower and will only get better. Everyone seems to be getting along very well and coenradd takes them to another level. Def have the guns to win it now. But with cairns rocky tville mackay killin it atm it wont be easy. Atleast the south is in the picture now though.

they beat cairns so have the cross over right??
or is qbl using a different system because cairns have better points for and against but thats tough to compare teams that way as they have played different oposition.

the ladder definatly shows the difference between the groups of clubs with 3 groups around the same results....

Wright has just returned home following a three-week scouting mission to the US.

During that time he scouted about 300 players and said he had settled on a couple who he hopes will be in Blaze colours this season.

"We definitely have some guys we are interested in," he said.

"We have narrowed it down and there are two we are interested in.

"Hopefully we can work out the details and get them over here.
