BSHS vs IGS
Igs could worry bshs here if Ralph can produce a massive game they could get it. But bshs depth should get bshs over the line by about 15
ACGS vs BBC
Should be a very good game but I think Garret will be the difference acgs should get up by around 10 I would say
NC vs TSS
Should be pretty close but if nudgee can play for the 4 quarters they should get up by 15 or so
BGS vs GT
Will be a extremely tight game from what I've herd terrace doesn't have much so I'm picking bgs by 2 but who knows both teams with not much talent
Are you high, these are the worst predictions ever

All non-Churchie GPS ballers breathed a sigh of relief this morning after seeing the breaking news on Sunrise. Jamie Rickward has been injured and his reign of lethal dunks and blocks has come to an end. Though the Churchie first V are no longer life-threatening, any firsts basketball players from BBC would be wise not to recover from their fake injuries...
A new talent, perhaps even more atheltic than the half bear, half gorilla, half chimpanzee, Jamie Rickward has emerged.
You may not have heard of him, but you will soon.
The Sam Elliott is coming.
Be afraid.

BSHS vs IGS
BSHS to demonstrate the difference between the top 3 teams and the rest of the competition with a strong win against IGS. Coming off an OT win against BBC will cruise through this game. BSHS bench will have a lot of gametime.
BSHS 25+
ACGS vs BBC
Match of the round. BBC will be desperate to get this one after a disappointing loss to BSHS. Sudden death for BBC. First challenge of the season for Churchie, we will see if they match up to the likes of BBC and BSHS. Argon dropped 25+ on strybos so expect a big game from Bairstow too. If Garrett isn't on fire and the rest of Churchie plays their regular game it should go down to the wire. Terrible free throw shooting from BBC cost them the game last week apparently so I'd imagine Matt is down in the gym trying to improve his woeful percentage. Game could go either way depending who steps up on the day. But churchie for life!
ACGS 10
NC vs TSS
Another game that could go either way. This game will be a battle for 5th/6th placing I think. I haven't seen NC play yet but going on last weeks results I'd say TSS will come up trumps.
TSS 5
BGS vs GT
GT is the best of the bottom bracket of the competition. Should have an easy win over BGS. Only way BGS will compete is if it is on their home court but even then they don't have the tools to win.
GT 15
free throws were what kept bbc in the game. Would of lost by 20 if there werent so many missed lay ups and fouls by BSHS

yep looks like BSHS could go all the way with having to only still play Churchie and NC in that top bracket as it sits atm, Ippi have BBC and Churchie still, NC have BSHS, BBC and Churchie so they look like them and Ippi have the tougher paths looks like the Churchie v BSHS could decide a few things so when is that? BBC will want Churchie to win that and keep rolling to try and make a 3 way for the title. The state champs now become very interesting. NE1 at the State High game yesterday ? who played well for both teams or who didnt. were the refs good or bad etc

The refs gave both BBC and IGS bad calls. BBC self destructed in the 4th with the Bergen twins fighting between eachother, Wilson with a tech foul and just loose passes which were collected up by the IGS guards and were converted. IGS had a 16-0 run with 4 minutes remaining. You can't say that that was because of the refs. IGS came to play in the 4th

Churchie got up over bbc firsts tonight without bairstow.
I find it interesting that only a few Fridays ago the night before the State High/BBC game. BBC played Churchie in a round game at BBI. BBC decided to rest all their senior/First players and ran an u/16 team in this game. That was a total lack of respect for the competiton and their opponent, and they still lost the next day to BSHS.
Last night in the BBI club Semi they had pretty much their whole team there. Maybe a lack of respect for the IGS first team? Underestimate any team with J Ralph in it and you will pay.
Also every time the BBC boys lose someone comes on here and bitches about the refs! Maybe BBC are the third/fourth best team in the comp this year? Or possibly unlucky or maybe chokers, guess everyone will have their own oppinion.

whoever wrote this comment is a joke yes the reffing wasnt probably the best, but bbc need to look deep at themselves. Inhouse fighting between team players is weak as and is what will cost this team this year, Strybos second highest team scorer on 16 points, top rebounder offensively and defensively and played full minutes and hit 5/6 from the free throw line, dont see how this is choking,

Bullshit the reffing sucked in that game, how the BBC coach works his bench is a mystery. Strybos choked, Beau foul trouble. I thought Ben played well. Again the reffing won the game for you IGS

This must be his mum to pull out stats like that. That is total rubbish. Stop embarrassing Matt. Nobody cares if he only scores 5 points a game so long as you aren't on here talking him up. He threw up so many shots but hit barely any.
Stats like that? pretty sure anyone at the game could tell he was the best rebounder for BBC and scored about that many points. One of the bergin twins scored about the same amount of points, but by the end of the game they both were just fighting with the rest of the team. In the end this brought the whole team down and resulted in a loss. Good work IGS!!!

I would disagree with the last statement. From the sidelines i'd say that matt would have scored about 15 points. I agree with you on that. Him and Ben were keeping BBC in the game. What lost them the game was the long ranged hailmaries the team seemed to throw up when the pressure was on. If I had to criticise matt on his performance i'd say it was letting david prior, not renown for his offence score nearly 30 points. BBC has dropped a few very winnable games now and i'd put it down to team gelling. To much me ball across the board.

I agree with most of the above comments. Matt in his first captains role need to settle the team when the pressures on, this comes with time. Ben Wilson did a good job of that last season and Matt is just getting overwhelmed with the pressure. He needs to talk and guide his team and keep a level head. As i said this will come with time.
Whilst watching the game, I only heard Beau Bergen have a crack at his brother once in the last quarter. Beau Bergen needs to watch his foul count although there were a few dodgy calls against him. Cobby needed to stop jacking up shot after shot. BBC do have the talent to beat anyone in the competition if they can learn to handle the pressure and learn to play as a team not as individuals. BBC coaches should be working on that.
Just my 2 cents worth !!!!!

Matt is the most improved player in this age group in QLD and I'm not his mother. Have watched him play since u12s and know a lot of his story. Way to go Matt. BBC is only a handful of points from a perfect season but thats the nature of the game. Theres no one person to blame.

I think most of the comments since last weekend are disgusting and reek of petty jealousy. If you are all GPS schoolboys than I think you and your schools should be ashamed. They have tried (and failed) to educate you to become decent young gentlemen. Maybe you are all on basketball scholarships and don't actually attend English classes. Well guess what boys, there is more to the world than schoolboy basketball and name calling and disgusting language will not get you very far in life.
I hope the moderator starts to edit some of this crap. Lets talk about the games with a sense of good spirit.

garrett is weak, he fell very easily
well done to bshs, there were a few questionable calls by the refs to say the least at critical times which led to bshs being behind by up to 9 at one stage, but to their credit as a team they kept working away at the deficit
fantastic play by nick chia
really stood up in the last quarter and made the plays he needed to
alex watson also played well
for churchie 13 nailed about every shot he put up, bshs didn't rectify that after the first 5 or 6 shots, which could have led to a loss

A number of things caused this result. Anto had a fairly average game - by his standards anyway. Also, without being disrespectful, i thought the Terrace coached on the day. TSS ran a number of plays, actually one in particular, that Terrace just couldn't guard and didn't make any adjustments to the whole game.

Sorry i meant to say i thought the Terrace coach was out-coached on the day. I also forgot to mention that despite the fact that TSS lost their entire premiership team from last year they still play bloody hard - that may have contributed why they won quite convincingly.

Watching the BSHS vs Churchie game I was wondering who could stop Barstow. 6'6 and 100kg plus he has to be the top 4 man in QLD. But Churchie play him as a 2/3. State High should be sending him a thank you letter. Instead of killing every thing that moves in the paint he,s playing out side the three. Same with state high, look at the bench and all the 4/5s are on the bench. These are top rep/state players. The only answer I see is in the coaching and not just GPS. Coaches don't know what to do with big's. You would have thought 6'10 would be something you could work with. I can just see the Lakers putting all their size on the bench so they can match up ( down) to the other guys smalls. The main reason Nic Chia ( besides being good) ripped them up in the 4th and OT was there was no one inside to swat him. If you want to control the pace of the game you have to control the boards.

BBC won by 29. Their starting five could not be stopped. Scored at will and kept nudgee scoreless for most of the first quarter. Matt moved very well off the ball and as a result was the benefactor of 9 assists. Beau excelled on defence, racking up 7 or so steals and throwing about the same number of assists. Ben played his usual offensive game and scored a bunch. Jake Stalder played a solid role as did Eustace. The bench came on and held their own. BBC seem to improve with every game. Helps the bench alot if you count the refs too. I know all GPS home games favour the home team with the reffing but BBC was appalling in most games on Saturday. Manipulating the clock in the 2 minutes also means that if you have to cheat to win it isn't really a win. ( this was not in the firsts but other close games). I aint a NC kid either.

Bit unfair? He didn't have all that much to work with.

Not sure that is a fair statement either. Tell me one GPS school that had 4 State players plus should have been state player Timmy Weigh and three other rep players in their lineup? He had plenty to work with. Give a coach like Dale Ryan or Luke Gribble half that talent and they win the competition.
Not sure calling him the worst coach in GPS is fair either, who does TGS have?

worst out of teams that really care about basketball, eg TSS, state high, BBC etc.
he has a history of having a team of great players( for their level of competition) and being unable to bring them together as a team and therefore underperforming

Being a state player means nothing nowdays. Bairstow was tough, easily the leader of the team. Christian Lamb was a good scorer, another solid player. But who else did they have? Tim is too young to be influential in opens yet. Garrett didn't have a stong showing. Then a bunch of role players. Compared to BSHS and BBC they didn't have much to work with.

being a state player does not mean that u are the best out, true. but it does have some significance. it means that a panel of selectors believe that you are among the ten best players in your age group at the time the team is selected. this means that by having 5(not entirely sure of this number?) state players churchie has guys there who can clearly play and have been considered the best at one time or another.
As for the younger players not being able to make an impact on the game, i saw the state high churchie game in which tim certainly had an impact on.

Mate the TGS coach is for from the worst in the GPS. If compare the results from last year, they were more then doubled in points every single game. Their coach has obviously done some great things, considering they only went down by approximately 70-50 to BGS. The Tgs side has a grade 9 guard and another grade 9 playing in small forward. The rest of their team are grade 11's and a couple of grade 12's.
I wouldn't say that TGS had the worst coach until you have seen these boys play, they really do give it to some of the better teams.

BSHS 2010 GPS CHAMPS!!!
Why is it that every year most people write this team off, and then they beat everyone.
All the smack talk about next year is for next year, dont talk about the coaches on here either, its the teams you should be talking about. At the start of the year most people predict BBC & CHURCHIE to win it, yes BSHS won both games in OT against them but a win is a win and they don't even take GPS seriously compared to state champs, but they did get beaten by a better team in the final at state champs from MT CREEK.
