Most rosters are complete for the comp next week, as usual basketball politics involved but good to see some Qbl players involved.

The Reef will boast strong Australian talent including the athletic John Fitzgerald, Nathan Niesler, David Bartholomaeus and Blagoj Janev, complimented by the veteran Jason Cameron and American Draftee Shane Edwards.
While it is good to see some Qld talent I think these guys will get smashed. Way out of their dept here.
Thalo Green looks to show his wares in an attempt to re-start his NBL career as a naturalised Australian.
Has this happened yet..?

Is he playing for any team in QABL this season?

Sinking feeling settles on Fleet (http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/sinking-feeling-settles-on-fleet/story-e6frecj3-1225850291817)
Last night Wollongong Hawks big-man Cameron Tragardh withdrew, leaving the Fleet (High Stakes Hoops) fairly light in its frontcourt.
"I think Cam has just signed (to play NBL) with Melbourne Tigers so he withdrew from this series," Fleet coach Ken Cole said.

From NBL.com.au:
"The Melbourne Tigers have started putting together the pieces of their 2010/11 NBL roster, with the official key signings of Cameron Tragardh, Tommy Greer and Bennie Lewis.
Tragardh has signed a three year deal with the Tigers, fresh from averaging a team high 16 points per game (ppg) for the Wollongong ahm Hawks in the 2009/10 NBL Grand Final Series. Tragardh, the 2008/09 NBL Most Improved player, was rewarded for a great 2009/10 season with All NBL Third team honours and will be a key part of the Tigers frontcourt next season. At 26 years of age he is entering his basketball prime and with his presence inside and versatility at the power forward position, he will be a great asset for the Tigers in the seasons ahead."
Rumour has it that the Tigers stopped their players playing in the High Stakes this week so you have to wonder what that means to Triggers QBL commitments?

i hope dante does not have a melt down on tv!!!!!!!
Bill Woods hit the nail on the head when he said Dante was selfish and only playing for himself - ZING!
Nice win to the Reef by the way.
my boy and team mate Keith "k smooth" Borgan played extremely well tonight against a more fancied and supposedly more talented opponent in the rays.... A team he and Esparza were omitted for for PC and Lisch (not bad replacements) and he more than held his own against 4 quality NBL backcourt players.
Should bode well for him (and us) for the QBL season. I thought curtis from BBI handled himself well also and will be a handful for every PG in the league this yr. overall the QBL team has performed very well so far and with JC turning back the clock anything is possible
great to see some of the QBL boys going well..
although i like them, some of those selected to play are questionable with a few looking like they were selected simply because they were seppos, mates or just available (guys like Knight etc) rather then having the skill for that level of the game...
i guess as its the first one they are waiting to see how successful it is before they put more effort into recruiting for next year... good to see so much ball on free to air, ive seen a few comments about it on facebook by non-bballers which means its getting out there at least...

Just a few comments regarding the competition.
1. How good is it to see basketball back on free to air.
2. How good is it to see new talented imports over here hoping to play in our elite comp.
3.And best of all!!!!!!! How good is it to watch a game of basketball where every soft foal is not called- the game flows, some great contact- just awesome to watch- might get people back to the game- lets hope!

it seems to me that this comp is all about who you know.
Wouldnt it make more sense for people such as teys, ammar, jeffries, gleeson etc to be playing. The borderline NBL/ development players?
What are peoples thoughts on that??

i thought the comp was a mixture of a showcase of basketball and a show of interest for players who wish to break into NBL, apparently a number of the seppos (not sure who) have paid there own way to get there in hope to get a contract...
so i agree guys like Ammar etc would be great to see play in the comp but like i said previously it may only be because it's the first one if it goes well i'm sure guys like Tommy will be getting in the thick of things next year if it continues.. SEABL guys would be pissed though they all miss out on the great exposure because it's during their season...
there has been some good games and really good ball being played though after all the seppos got rid of the jetlag an the playes learnt each others names lucky for me i have a plasma in the front office or i'd be missing out..
I think JVG started the comp primarily for competition/entertainment purposes whilst the teams fight over the cash.
Due to the great exposure it's been given, in effect it's inadvertently changed its emphasis to a competition for those who want to be seen in the pursuit of a contract here or elsewhere.
It's fair to say it's been reasonably successful thus far, and we'll probably see both a better mix of local talent (who want the $$$) and overseas players (who want exposure) next year.
LETS GO COASTERS!!!
if they win it's Derek's shout :)
there was scouts from Spain and other european countries, NBL - Joey wright and cairns had a scout.
I hear Barty was being rewarded for all the years he gave for caps for no pay, I agree there was a few guys there that maybe should not have been. The Cyclones owner pulled out so even those guys had to spend there own cash.
Next year all the money is doubled with $500,000 prize money and $20,000 for the 3pt contest - there was a catch with that contest, no one had a warm up. Up at 8.00 and shoot straight away......
