Rocky did it tough yesterday. Glenn Scott out with a knee injury so they were down to basically the hired guns and a couple of old vets that saw any real playing time. Trigger carried them offensively as Reggie had another poor shooting night. Paul Scott and Kingma the only other guys to contribute offensively while shooting better than 31%. They won't win games playing like that without Trigger.

i was wondering how Rocky would go when i saw Glenn hurt his knee again, i think he is out for a few weeks which puts even more pressure on Peni an Tc to bring the ball up or worse Golsen who didnt handle it too well when they played us..

3:1 and 5:1 - That makes no sense. In a 2 horse market you need to have one that is short and one that is long otherwise I can back your 3:1 and 5:1 bets and make money no matter who wins.

A more reasonable market would be say '3:1 on' ($1.33) Mackay and 4:1 ($5) Brisbane. Whilst even this is a juicy spread - this is more like a proper betting spread.

After years of admiring and being frustrated by your good work I finally had to say......

Have admired Thalo's stats and achievements from afar over the years and finally got to see the great man play yesterday and was bitterly disappointed that such a talented and efficient player carries on the way he does. Flailing against great 'D' and constant bitching to the refs. Maybe it was a one off game Im not sure and without trying to hate, I dont know the bloke from a bar of soap but is this normal? Is this a star thing or a league wide problem? Those antics belong in soccer. The umpires were onto the situation pretty well but too often fell for the Kentucky Flail. Reward our great game and just play, hey!

a few years ago i used to actually think about the odds but that didnt last long so now i just put the fav team as the small odds and i know most of them dont make sense but then again alot of my posts dont either so it works for me haha..

ok so it's a rainy day which means i'm stuck in the office so let's have a look at the comp after 4 rounds of the season..

looking through the results of the first few weeks and how some ppl are playing i think this could be the closest year of "full" state league we have had since the merger..

POD

imho Mackay are the favs to finish at no 1 in POD and the comp IF the other POD teams can take care of business..

they may prove me wrong but at the moment Rocky isn't firing the way a championship team should be they will be tough defensively sitting in their zone but Kingma, Reggie an Peni combining for under 30pts against a weakened Tville team that was beaten by Power the night before doesn't bode well for them after losing approx 10pts a game replacing Trig with Mcdade/phelp..

my boys are a little inconsistent at the moment if we can keep the form of the last 2 games going on the road away from our awesome crowd we have a realistic chance at semi's (obviously only IF we get Tvile on return trip an take care of Cairns)

heat are tough an consistent no Duroux an Rees really hurts them though so depending on when they get them back will see how they finish the season if we aren't 3rd these guys will be.. (imo M.Cedar will back sooner than expected)

CP (central pool)
this is a weird pool Wiz should be favs but they lost to Suns and Bulls should be 2nd but they lost to Clips but beat Power.. Suns are good but lost to GC an have had one of the toughest starts to a season out of any team so depends on how they pull themselves out of it.. i was thinking at the start of the season that Wiz had a great chance of taking top spot in the state giving both Suns an Bulls a play off spot but things are a little unpredictable to make that call although its still possible..

POE
SW had the easiest start to the season but also got a POD scalp which is crucial if they want that no1 spot.. i cant really comment on their form though as yet because Cairns is the only team so far they have beaten that some thought they may not have, one thing is for sure they will definitely finish no1 in POE and they have a good chance of finishing high even at the top of the state thanks to a Bullsh!t ladder system GC an Ippy may BOTH make the semi's this year..

someone mentioned that my WOW award is a little harsh and it maybe but i'll only be awarding it to a player who i think should be doing much better after consultation with whoever is on facebook at the time so take it as a compliment BUT if it's too harsh let me know an it's going to be limited to starters most likely an import or of NBL calibre...

anyway this week i'm goin to give the WOW to Reggie 14-3 arent bad numbers but when your 6'7 an you were touted as one of the best imports in the comp you'd expect better especially since this is the 2nd week in a row he's produced these numbers.. Rocky is going to need him to increase to over 20ppg for them to be serious contenders...

Great post.

Barlow's stat sticks out the most to me. He was always going to be a last option on offence with Timmy/Rhys/Fitz/Todd on the floor, but the way he was trumpeted in the off-season one would think he would've had more of an impact.

Played with Thalo in Logan for 2 seasons....and i have to say, he is my favourite player of all time to play next too. This sounds gay, but he is the most inspiring person to have on your team. No slacking off in practice, and u better give 100% on the court, coz he does when ever he is playing...doesnt matter if it is practice or a game. He is really intense, but that just wants to make you play your best, and he is only that way coz all he wants to do is win. Ive said to my mates before that he is the best player ive ever played with. and top bloke too

I think the two pool system that was suggested as an alternative to the bullsh!t system we have now was a much more equal system which didnt allow teams who came 12th overall play a semi-final considering it only cost a few thousand more (3 i think)

haha i love how you random anon f@gs talk smack well considering we beat every team south of us except SW last year this would logically mean we would of been in the top 2 of any other pool bar our own sure we still wouldnt of won the whole thing but it's always nice to have an extra game or two at the end of the season..

as for my WOW award i'm sorry Reggie i didnt realise Barlow had a 18min game stat line that consisted of 1pfs an 1 TO... like Mr Ben said he was talked up in pre-season but i dont see how you can pay someone an they put up those numbers so Barlow gets the WOW gong for this week..

I disagree wello was more of a crafty player rather a whinger to the refs. Tim Smith comes to mind for someone that has a good crack at the refs.

from what i've seen there's a few boys out there who like to push the boundaries of physical contact on the court mainly vets who know what they can an cant get away with..

i'm not going to call them dirty because it's all in the rules but on current rosters i would throw Aucorn in there through simple video evidence, Big Duroux knows how to use his body to best effect and llyod lewis sets a great screen..

Sheez your odds are closer to the mark then that statement. Elbows you love them as a way to niggle and cheap shot with the operative being niggle and as for the squirrel grip that was an old favourite of yours and you like many went the whinge and the whine Wellings, Thalo, McGlynn, you, Aucoin and a quite a few others were high achievers with that stat and all did it for the exclusive reason of trying to get one up on the opposition and for the better part of that I give you a thumbs up.

Have played against Thalo about 10 times in my career and I can say he takes on a different persona when he's on the court. You can't take away the fact he's a competitor and just like competitors do in the heat of the battle sometimes it goes over the top. I've taken a couple of his elbows in my battles with him but I can't be mad because I've given as good as I've got over the course of my career.
For us who've played the game a while and love the ultra competitiveness that's the way it goes sometimes. I respect the guy for the way he plays even if sometimes it's not to the liking of the majority, as I'm sure those who know me and the way I've played at times isn't to the liking of the majority either.
Shlt I'd never thought I'd be sticking up for a guy like Thalo but at the end of the day stats don't lie and like him or hate him he gets it done
