what are you talking about vdogg is isnt he, although i heard some rumours that there was more than likely a change coming. looks like the revolving door of coaches continues with the bbi women. thats make 5 coaches 4 seasons if im right maybe they need to start looking at some of the players rather than the coach all the time

From what I have seen the side is going a lot better than what most people thought-
Vdog looks to have them going ok with the troops he has, if there is any unrest in the camp the players should be greatful they are playing QABL- because except for a couple of players they wouldnt make any other side.

Excellent round of games this week - on paper/form, there's no reason why every game on the men's ledger shouldn't at the very least be reasonably close, perhaps Gladdy @ Brisbane the exception.

If I had to pick the best 3 I'd go for Bundy @ Cairns, Caboolture @ Maroochy (expect fireworks here) and Gladdy @ Northside.

Ladies I haven't forgotten about you either. South West's double header at Rocky/Mackay figures to be the best. Brissy @ Goldie and Gladdy @ Wiz could be ok as well.

Players were very grateful to make the side, as was Brisbane happy to have them when there were hardly any come to trials. Now better players come from far and wide, don't need those players any more - goodbye thanks a lot for coming and wasting your time with us!

V-Dogg has been shafted, or should I say he has resigned for personal reasons. Isnt it interesting that the long list of coaches in charge of the Brisbane women over the last couple of years continues. Surely all of these coaches cant have been that bad and if they truley have been maybe the committee that appoints them needs to give themselves the shove for making bad appointments instead of continually blaming the coach.

From all the rumours Rob Schriebner will now coach the women this week, the man who has been loading the gun and firing all of these coaches for the last couple of years.

It's about time the capitals program realises that they have become the laughing stock of the woman's qbl in the south east and have been overtaken by south west, northside and ipswich as a preferred association to play for because of their erratic decisions off the court over the past 5 years.

Keep your chin up V-Dogg and join the queue of coaches along with Emma, Darren, Thommo, etc.

Brisbane ABA program is a joke. Lots of talk about loyalty - funny ha ha. Darren from last year was not reappointed, he was a very good coach. What did he do wrong? Easy to understand why players go elsewhere or just don't play at Brisbane any more.

Has V-Dogg really been shafted? If so that is incredible, and those responsible have plenty to answer for.

Yes the runs have not been on the board so far this season, but the bloke simply hasn't had much depth to work with at all up until the arrival of Creet and Cook last weekend. Was he not a major player in getting imports Crista and Rachel to the club? That is what I hear anyway. Way to stick the boot into a loyal long-serving stalwart, again.

The Dogg's arse must be really sore after being reamed for the second season in a row. Time to go to somewhere else bro.

feel for girls they are ones that got V dogg fired. They need to HTF up and be accounted for not Vdogg.
how it is so easy to fire the coach when he is not the problem.

i want to set the record straight i resigned due to eprsonal reasons. i was not enjoying it. thought it was better for the club if i stepped aside. i am moving forward with my career not sure where that is or who it is with. i have been involved at bbi since i was 15 years old and have acheived some very good success in the junior levels i have coached at, including 5 trips to under 14 nationals and 3 state championships and even more with my past success with the under 16 boys bronze team. i am disappointed in having to step down but fealt it was better for the club, so can we leave all the talk there, i appreciate everyone who had my back. again thank you lets leave all the chatter about bbi there, please.

The question is why aren't you enjoying the role. you are a v successful coach. Is it the same reasons previous coaches have not applied. Was the V Dogg not letting the tail wag the dogg and that was the real problem. You know what happens to a dogg that is not looked after, it attracts fleas.

might be a successfull junior coach but would probably say he has been out of his depth in the majors. when you keep getting booted due to underperformance you can only blame the players so much.

i was not booted for poor performance, in either of my last 2 jobs. in bundy my contract was up so i came back to brisbane.

in brisbane i left for personal reasons, the team was 2 and 4 and going ok so dont know how u say it was poor performance.

Kick ass game at the Dore tonite! Suns lead throughout then 2 consecutive buckets by Zeke Meehl got the Dore to within 2 before Scotty Kenny nailed a three and went to the line for the 4 point play. No time left for Suns to respond.

Clippers led by 10 early in the game until the visitors, keyed by an energetic burst from Mitchel Pleysier, went on a long run to end the quarter and lead by two.

Suns well and truly in control through the second and third quarters. Clippers outside shooting well and truly missing, and Suns keeping their noses comfortably in front with the Maroochy bigs in foul trouble.

Suns up by 8 with 1:20 on the clock and cruising towards the W. Zeke hit a triple, then on the inbounds Benny Mac turned it over right away. Zeke banged it in from deep again to make it a two-point game. Suns go downcourt, Thalo misses a two. Clips go back, Kenny misses an ambitious three. Suns return and Thalo is forced to miss an out-of-rhythm jumper. Clips come back and the ball goes to Kenny who never looked like doing anything but shooting the rock. He nailed it to put the Clips up 1, but as his shot was put up Matt Mac was fouled by a screener. Matty goes 1 of 2 with 15 secs or so left to have the scores tired. Clips push the ball and Zane gets a mismatch with Ryan Parry on the left baseline. Zane shakes him off and drops in an easy 2. Can't remember who missed a two shot for the Suns, but they are forced to foul Kenny and put him at the line - he knocks in both and that's the four point game. Clips absoutely stole the game from right under the Suns.

Zane was the best player on court by a mile, and Thalo led the Suns effort. I'm no coach, but I was surprised that the Suns offensive plays weren't geared to taking advantage of Thalo and Brad's offensive skills - a lot of stuff appeared to be dumping to them and letting them go to work. Clippers did a great job not giving them the shots they wanted, and given their lack of size they did an especially good job of pestering Thalo.

Thought the Suns got the rough end of the stick with the goaltends called on Thalo and Pleysier. I thought they were good defensive plays, but they cost the team four points in the end (note: refs did NOT cost them the game).

No offence to the girls playing, but I regret showing up early to watch the ladies match. If it weren't for talented plays from Amy Browne, Kirsty Dallas and Charmaine Cox through the game I would've went insane. Suns girls in for a very lean season, although I guess they did well to scrap and keep the game to sub 20 points. Oh and the most puzzling part of the game was trying to figure out why Maroochy called timeouts with 4 and 1 minute left to go in the game when it was absolutely sealed????? I really don't think it served any sensible purpose.

Good atmosphere tonight, standing room only and the atmosphere was great. Glad I made the 90 minute drive up the Bruce to check it out.

Some interesting individual performances from the weekend so far!!! Let's talk who's hot and who's not!! Dale ilawanici is a freak right now. He is shooting and playing at nbl level! Drew Phillips at brissy is a man amongst boys out there too! These two are a couple of the biggest improvers of the season! On the other hand the suns stars were very quiet with thalo shooting 10 for 28 with 9tos and brad going 7 for 27 with 2 of 16 from deep! Should try kicking it in! Also the pirates starting backcourt of teys and neisler went 2 of 17 from the floor combined! I know this will spark debate cause once again his home stats are incredible but if they are true Zane meel deserves pov for his unreal performance all round and getting a big win! Should be some good games today too!

No love for the Power this afternoon as they went down by 20-30 to the Wizards this afternoon on the back end of their road trip.

Nothing remarkable to mention about the game, apart from SD going nuts from outside. Plenty of tough shots as well, not many went uncontested.

Iwanicki battled hard and was Port's best. Blair looked a bit tired and struggled to contain Petrie - he could've done with Esparza helping out in the paint (where was he anyways?).

Esparza isn't playing due to pauline kelly having a major stuff up with hes immagration papers, from what i have heard he is in big trouble and might not be able to play for the season and even may be sent home, and unforgivable thing to happen and just goes to show that gladstone administration needs a major overhaul, there are a bunch of dinasaours running the club there and it's a disgrace that these things can still happen amongst many many other things...

That is a little tough. Not knowing what goes on in Gladstone (paid admin, etc) but in most other associations around the state the people who administer the associations are what is commonly known as a volunteer.

If you suggest that a volunteer isn't doing their duty properly you yourself should volunteer and see if you can do the job better. If you aren't prepared to undertake this, I would think you should keep your opinion on such things to yourself.

Seeing as this is the internet and i am free to voice my opinion i would think you should understand this is what these places are here for.. This volunteer as i am aware has in the past made sure she has been paid very well for her services to the club and still can't get it right, To make an error like this is inexcusable and is playing with peoples lives. Not that it's really going to matter next year anyway when most of the local guys retire and nat and jess leave, there will be no more power anyway.

shane had good looks at the start and that just carried on when he had a hand in the face, he helped bubbles get some assists too.

Esparza would have made that game alot better, not saying it would have been a different result but he covers that 20-30 point loss margin with offence and defence.

The most dissapointing thing about the Esparza situation is not with in the club its Immagration, rather then giving there answer on friday as they said they would they posted there decision in the mail....... do they not have a fax or email it through???

Dale played well in both games and even though power went 1-1 should get a look for player of the week as he followed up his 34 point effort from last week.

He fumbled 2 in mid air and still shot them and nothing but net. You know you are insanely hot when you can do that. But I've seen that from shane a lot of times so it's nothing surprising to me. I don't think the Gladstone would have to forefit anything, BQ still needs some involvement and decsisions on who and who isn't cleared to play, especially with imports. Did the Footlocker Hoops cause any issues with this, eg added earnings while in australia. I'd be guessing that what Gladstone did for him with imigration was declared what his earnings would be, and becuae he played in that it may have changed things. I don't know any insights, just speculating that it may not just be their fault...

Sounds very strange because you used to have the player cleared via immigration and FIBA Oceania before they are allowed to play. Jumped through those hoops a while back and apart from the cost it was relatively straight forward in regards to the paperwork. And after all that was said and done it still had to be okay'd by BQ prior to the player stepping on the court.

Just a tad bored here so I will run through the Northern teams and they're line-ups:

Cairns:
There is no doubt at all this team has dropped away, losing Aaron Grabau, Garry Boodnikoff, Matt Smith, Nathan Jawai and Kerry Williams over the last few seasons, however, with an NBL team in town there is always talent around. Jeromie Hill is a great young player with size and skills. James Comino is reliable at the level now and Deba George has been playing well.
Dean Brebner needs to be a constant inside threat and a rebounder as this team now lacks size. Dwayne Vale also needs to be shooting and scoring at a good clip.

Townsville:
As above with the Crocodiles in town, there is excess talent to burn. This team lacks depth and with a few injuries at the moment are in a rough spot. David Vanderjagt returning from college will help as there aren't many 7-footers in the league. Chris Cedar was on a tear until he rolled an ankle and missed a game or two. Veterans in Brendon McCully, Kirk Newnham and Tim Durox are strong role players and Daniel Egan adds interior presence. Losing the import before the season hurt them and I don't think we will see them in the finals.

Mackay:
I love the Meteors line-up and versatility. John Fitzgerald has had games with 20 or more points, 10 or more rebounds and 8 or more assists so he can bring everything. Rhys Martin, whilst being under the pump in many opposing gyms, is putting up great numbers and Tim Coenraad and Todd Blanchfield add rebounding, scoring and shooting and both are 200cm.

Rockhampton:
Losing Cameron Tragardh was supposed to be the start of a demise but Ryan McDade's inclusion has been brilliant. He grabbed 55 boards in a 3 game weekend and will only improve with practices etc with the team. Reggie Golson is still a top flight import on thew wing and Peni Nasalo, Michael Kingma and Mitchell Philp all add to the team.

Overall I like Mackay here, despite no inside scoring or presence as Glen Barlow has struggled this team has so much perimeter scoring and punch that they are blowing most teams away. They have four guys capable of blowing a team away. Rockhampton are just behind the Meteors but then I think there is a gap to Cairns and Townsville unless the Heat can add a Ben Allen or a Michael Cedar and Cairns can add an Alex Loughton or a Dusty Rychart.

few little topics to discuss on my Monday morning..

i knew it was a political hot spot at Auchenflower but are BBI admin on crazy pills???
firstly V dogg is replaced after stepping down for "personal reasons"

Now the Conias are being replaced in the Canteen WTF.. and of course they would thank us for our patronage AOK because they are a lovely family who helped create a great family atmosphere at the flower.. having just been there on the weekend they say hello an chat to everyone like you are their long lost relative you would hope the decision makers have a good reason for getting rid of them cos at the moment it seems not many agree with what looks like another disloyal decision..

On a lighter note Shane Davis was UNCONCIOUS on Sunday, having a great view from the bench I saw him fumble at least one of his shots in the air and also im pretty sure he wasn’t looking at the hoop for another while he was shooting an still nothing but net.. there isn’t too many times you can say to your teammate don’t worry you did everything you could an he still hit that like it was an open lay up.. I just wish he had of sat out that game like he was planning too haha..

Also on the north comparisons I guess we don’t count as North even though I complain a lot about being in the POD maybe you missed it haha.. but yeah we got beaten by 16 by Rocky not 3 and we did beat Tville an I think we will get Cairns as well if our boy Spider is allowed to stay in the country which we find out this week once the letter arrives in the mail..

Was a great game till the end. Suns were well and truly in control the entire game (even when they were down) I thought. Zane played well but was by no means the best on floor as his stats may have suggested - not sure who is doing the stats up there but very interesting. The young boys from the Dore stepped up late and outplayed the Suns for about 2mins but that was all it took. Will be interesting to see how the Suns will respond to this poor start to the season, but with many old heads on board Im sure will be ok. Truly has set the stage for a gd game 2 down at Mfield.

I am sure the Conias family appreciated and benefitted from your patronage. What you choose to do in the future is entirely up to you.

However, everyone knows there are two sides to every story.
The Conias family were one of the best things about the Auchenflower venue and an institution in Brisbane basketball for a generation (or two).
No doubt the "story" would be well constructed to bring about their departure. Who is coming in to replace them?? (Haha!)

so who is replacing the lovely Conias AOK? you seem to be someone on top of all the BBI inner workings,i'm sure you would have the best insight as to how this all went down an what the end result will likely be???

admin is the above post (tisk, tisk etc) really necessary???

Everyone knows you are playing more than the team when ya go to sunny coast its been like that since Noah was a boy LOL

the reason for the canteen being in the situation it is. is because those in charge of the tuck shop didnt do the right thing Via Brisbane city council and local licensing boards and stuffed it up. and there are a few at bbi trying to create something for patrons in the mean time untill its sorted.

Watched a lot of the Clippers games this season so far and one thing that stands out is the lack of coaching that appears to be occurring in both the Mens and Womens games. Some strange decisions or non decisions at important parts of games and the total non existence of any structure will make for long seasons. I especially feel for Gianni as he hardly gets any looks even though he produces when the rock does come his way. Lets just say that I hope both Coaches seats are comfortable as they seem to spend a lot of the game sitting quietly in them. . .

I've seen a few Clipper mens games this season, coaching appears to be a non-issue. Their offensive structure is solid and they play to their primary stength ie outside shooting. Gianni gets as many looks as anybody else. Hats off to Waz and Hans for being one of very few staff who actually sit and remain placid for the majority of games. People talk about Thalo, Aucoin et al bitching to the refs game in game out, but the biggest blight in my opinion are those coaches who walk up and down the sidelines and challenge every danged whistle disregardless of how blatantly correct the call is.

so if was their fault why did the Conias not know the shop was going to be boarded up, locks changed an they would be evicted from the kitchen on Monday???
some would think there would be some more correspondence before that level of action happens it very well maybe their fault but the two different stories coming out of the Flower seems to be either it's Conias fault or the the BBI board's have a little hand in the matter due to other reasons.. which is interesting given the past history of some decisions that have been made by those people..

well i'm not sure how they do it but the Bundy Bottomless pit is still going with Meyerding out for a long chunk if not all of the season due to his ankle injury.. Currie has addressed his need for another guard by signing the one and only man who could be the answer to all of their semi-final dreams

Rocky Oneil... the man is a speed demon with the ball which pretty much nullifies any team who is going to try press this team to stop their big units going to work..

great work by the currie muncher to get it done in his first season i didnt have much faith in him at first but things are looking much better in Rum Country..

Mate I have been attacked by the best so I have no issues with a "pooee power pumper" having a go. Nt sure your mates would understand. hahaaha

I at least have had the manners to ask the BBI people the story. They have protected their members which is the duty of all good management.

Yes a very good pick up. Very underrated player at the PG posistion. He's got a little bit of that Rajon Rondo type tenacity.

Totally agree with you about the excessive ranting that goes on and seems to be an accepted behaviour these days, which is not good for the game. Yes the Clips strength is def perimeter but as for structure, there's not much there. I believe they could be getting much better shots rather than trying to create mostly off one on one. As for Gianni, I know he'll never be the first option (or second or third) but check the box scores from the Caps, Wiz, Rocky or Suns game and you'll get a feel for what I'm saying. Just think they could be better with the ball going through his hands a bit more, even to get the inside out play which will only help the shooters
