Gold Coast Goannas vs South West Metro Pirates
My Picks for the weekend are:

Maroochydore
Rockhampton
South West
Good luck to all teams and hope some good ball will be played...
Also on a sidenote the State Championships "Classics" for Wheelchair Basketball will be held at Boondall in Brisbane this weekend starting Friday night, continuing all day saturday and finals sunday morning/arvo...If you're not upto much come out and check out some great games of basketball...
unfortunately i missed last weeks tips due to work commitments out of town for those that are interested i invested some money an made a good profit on a little game called Sic Bo an ancient Chinese die game that yours truly seems to be better at then the table full of Asians surrounding me... if you want to have a go i suggest watching the board but i made my chips betting on 4, 7, 9 an 11 and one lucky 17 bet (61-1 odds)... i'm glad we have a bye this long weekend my yard looks like an african wildlife habitat anyway enough lets get onto this weekends game..
Townsville Heat vs Rockhampton Rockets
what used to be the most terrifying road trip in this countries bball history although still scary has reduced from boxing mike tyson to fighting with me yeah it's still tough and your goin to get hurt a little but your not going to get absolutely slaughtered although Rocky has handled this trip better than anyone of late.. if Mick Cedar plays i'll give Tville a chance but without him they are down 3 of their first 5 an no-one can beat Rocky like that.. $45 on Rocky
Rck 2:1 Tvl 6:1
Mackay Meteors vs Ipswich Force
what is with random trips for Ippy they did a one off trip to Gladdy 2 weeks ago an now they are on a one off to Mkay? good for the party ppl but cant be good for the budget although its a hell trip driving Ippy to Mackay an back in one weekend without having to play Gladdy as well you would hope they fly from Brissie.. sorry to the Ippy guy who i "accidentally" slapped it wont happen again.. $47 on Mkay..
Mky 2:1 Ips 12:1
Bundaberg Bulls vs Brisbane Capitals
Bulls New Super recruit Michael gets his chance to prove his worth every cent this weekend (for those who dont know that Rocky isn't his real name haha) the man makes more money on the TAB then any other guy i know which is tough considering how many gambling addicts i know but he does have his own little radio so that helps.. i'd be crazy to bet against the bulls on this one although Drew Phillips is the machine to stop em if only he'd smile once in a while.. $44 on Bulls
Bdg 3:1 Bri 7:1
Caboolture Suns vs South West Metro Pirates
Suns must be heartbroken after snatching defeat from the jaws of a win last week.. its not goin to get any easier this week SW have the horses i would rate them triple 2's playing against a pair of aces this week so Suns need a river card like B-rad lighting up to match Thalo to get them out of trouble.. $41 on SW
Sw 2:1 Suns 5:1
Toowoomba Mountaineers vs Maroochydore Clippers
winter is here and the beach bums are goin to FREEZE up the mountain if i were neers i would be opening all the windows & doors to drop the temp as much as possible to get as much home advantage as they can... run n gun is tough when you cant move so take your heaters, long socks, beanies an blankets clips bench cos your goin to need it.. $40 on Clips
Mcy 3:1 Twb 6:1
Cairns Marlins vs Rockhampton Rockets
a Little birdy has told me that Kezza Williams will be making his season debut for this Satnites game is he the spark an leadership the Bigfish need to get their slow season heating up?? going to be tough game playing against the massive slow giants but cairns have enough runners an shooters to make an impact an some bigs to at least hassle wook an mcmountain but the key match up imho is D-Vale on Reginald if Afroman scores under 20 i think Cairns can win if D-vale keeps up his shooting % of late as well... i'm putting $42 on Rocky but im happy for Cairns to make me lose my money on this one..
Rck 3:1 Cns 5:1
Gold Coast Goannas vs South West Metro Pirates
what a nice double header for SW play Suns go home sleep in your own bed wake up have a nice breaky read the Sunday mail watch some rage then drive an hour an play again they need to an should get this one to stay on top of POE.. $49 on Sw
SW 2:1 GC 5:1
since winter has well an truly kicked in instead of giving your money to me how bout you spend some $ on getting food an blankets for the homeless this winter god knows they are going to need it.. Salvation Army is charity of choice but any of them will do so help out someone in need as we celebrate an outdated holiday that will hopefully be replaced by an Independence day sometime in the near future..
Hi 2cents,
Can I get some money on this week on the Bulls?

not sure which is the pool of ease at the present by looking at the ladder...
An ok round of games coming up.
Rocky's away double header provides most interest. They will certainly be challenged by Townie and Cairns, and could conceivable drop one or both. Is Glen Scott still out or suiting up?
Caps could provide an upset over Bulls (although Bulls would be clear faves), and the Neers will be putting it all on the line to get that elusive W against Maroochy.
Townie v Rocky the pick of the women's matches, whilst Caps/Bulls should be a closish contest as well.

Entertaining womens game in Cairns - yes wmns.
Close entire game and Kennedy (import) for Rocky stole ball off Mcmeeken-Ruscoe with about 24 secs to go and layed up at other end to put them up by 1. Cns called time out with 18secs to go, progressed to half way. Mcmeeken was open deep in the corner (had already hit about 3 from the same spot, but Pedro took a little jumper just in front of the free throw line, it bounced then rolled and finally fell in with 2.8secs to go and Rocky called a time out down by 1. Inbound from half way and obviously Kennedy was the go to woman with 39pts already but couldn't get open. McGrath got the ball and took a shot from the elbow which got nothing, appeared clean with two defenders on her. Both teams deserved the win and Keenedy was super strong in the contest.

Bulls by 21 over Caps with strong performance and a team really starting to gel and "Rocky" gave great service, especialy the alli for Shacks big dunk in opening seconds with the whole Bull Pit on it's feet. Could have been bigger margin but all the Bull's bench played lot of the 4th.
Bears had the big crowd cheering early and score did not reflect game was a physical game.
So when teams come to the Bull Pitt girls and boys team will play in an electric atmosphere.

What's happening with Aucoin not playing again this week?
he and tilby had footy trip planned from before the season started...
POW thoughts anyone?
No performances in the men which particularly stands anyone out from the rest of the field. Perhaps Gleeson with his 24 and a game-winning bucket against the more-fancied Pirates? Note that Gurney had 26 in the same game.
Fitz had 28/8/4 in a blowout vs Ippy
Hanson had 35 & 7 against a Caps side lacking inside presence
Gianni had 19/15 in a blowout vs Neers
Philp averaged 20 in road double victories against Townie and Cairns
McDade averaged a double double over the same games
Murky waters with the women as well, with a number of players putting up good numbers.
Rachel Allison with 32 & 15 in a 20-point W over Ippy
Crista Ricketts 32/11 in a road win over Bundy
Daph Kennedy averaging 30 in two road losses up north
Gold Coast getting up over the Pirates was a big upset. Sarah Petrie got 22/11 for the winners.
McGrath got the ball and took a shot from the elbow which got nothing, appeared clean with two defenders on her.
My room appeared to be clean once......it wasn't.......it was an entertaining game though.

Gleeson was super tough against southwest. My vote for pow
had a quick glance at QABL website few thoughts from the weekend ;
no idea on who deseerves POW although others had better numbers i think Gleeson an Gurney numbers were best considering the game played an upset win espeically without Aucoin..
almost gave WOW to my buddy Reggie after Tville game but he came out an got it done vs Cairns
Phelp- left a baby came back a mini-man was showin promising signs last year but after a year in the states hopefully tapping some seppo @rse he's getting done so far he was definitely what the Doc ordered for Rocky especially after Glenn being out
ill put a lazy pineapple on Wookie getting shooting % award he'll have some competition but imho this year playin limited mins an pickin up the scraps close to the hoop means he should finish fairly high
did B-rad read my post last week cos he stepped up Suns need him to do that every game if they want a chance at that 2nd spot in pool b
Rocky not needing any warm up games coming in an almost gets a double double first game for Bundy means good things for them but is that the first QBL game ever Kyle hasn't scored a point from the field he got some free throws luckily??? it's actually a compliment to him tho because he isn't showing the shooters ego that he needs he's shots just giving it to the big men an lettin them gettin it done..
i'm goin to give the WOW to Caps import jas curtis he has got some game so 6-2-2-3 in 32 mins is really not enough

I am really suprised Kerry williams had a tough game, playing rocky were normally little quick guards seem to give them problems. maybe he should get WOW??? he is better then the numbers he put up and will need to produce them this weekend on there double header to townsville and mackay.
Curtis is struggling but does not have the support so there is alot of pressure, no inside presence does not make it easy for the guards.
Glenn Barlow still struggling with mins also.

If it wasnt for Ryan Mcdade being a beast then Mitch Philp would have to be the rockets best since round 4. This kid is playing at a really high level and its great to see. Hopefully he can keep it up and impress some coaches out there and maybe get a development spot with a Queensland NBL team after hes finished with college. IMHO he deserves it he is one of the better 21 y.o. or under going around in the QBL

What is going on with refs in 2010?
The standard of refereeing is terrible and is getting worse.

It has been fine. Have you seen the standard of some of the players running arounrd? Seriously we are at the half way mark of the comp you may as well call it off now and have Rocky and Mackay play the final.

bar 1 or 2 our refs have been good because the majority will actually talk to you if you have something decent to say that isn't a constant b!tch..
but we consistently have the same guys cos not many ppl want to make the road trip to gladdy for some unknown reason but i'd prefer them to 1 or 2 of the guys/gals we get on the road..
before he retired i think one year we had Barry for every home game of the season i think he enjoyed the crowd knowing his name :) but you need guys like him to bring some of these younger guys through..

We def do not need people like Barry bringing the young referees of the future through. He makes his own rules up and seems to think he is outside the rules of the rest of the league. We need our younger referees... learning from the people who currently referee at the elite national level and people who have experience at this level... not getting advice from 1954... I think barry is a very bad role model.
the Cougar making up his own rules surely not haha..
i'm getting old so maybe i like an old school ref but when he was in a good mood Barry was one of the better ones if you p!ssed him off though haha..
and maybe my memory is goin in my old age but at least he doesnt hold a grudge like some other refs
Nothing wrong with Bazza.

Have you honestly seen him referee this year Ben? He is a joke, bad role model, unprofessional. I am sure he is ment to represent Basketball QLD the same way everybody else is told to. To be professional on and off the court, and to adire to the rules and policy. Barry does neither very well....

I have no faith in one eyed players and supporters giving their opinions on refferees. On the whole they are very good at times exceptional. They develop their young talent well and do a better job than most clubs or teams at devopment and operating at a high level under unfair and biassed critiscism
Barry has always been very good and in years I have only seen him have one bad day
How many coaches players etc think they get screwed every game ? it just doesn;t add up. It is quite simple people with a vested interest often cannot remain objective

I am very proud to be associated with Barry McLeod. He is a great supporter of junior referee development in this state. I would not be where I am today without his support and I am very grateful for his time and efforts.

I have.
Not that your comments are being taken too seriously, hiding behind anonymous and all ....

Fitz and Crista get this week's awards. Must say I'm a bit dissapointed one of the Goldie boys didn't get it
good to see the cougar still has support although it would be nice if the ppl that are bagging him for being so unprofessional would at least own up to it so we can judge how professional you are in comparasion???
i'm with you benny i would like the POW to be about more then just the numbers although Fitz did have great numbers i thought gc boys deserved it for the game they got their numbers in..
