South-East Queensland Basketballers - Men and Women - Are you ready for the most exhilarating competition to hit South-East QLD?

Well standby... The ISL is here!

The ISL is a brand new, elite-level amateur basketball league and it’s coming for the first time to the Gold Coast, Sunday August 29th.

The Intensity Super League will soon take the Gold Coast by storm with 8 elite mens teams and 6 elite womens teams all vying for major prize money. The winning Men’s League team will take home $5,000 and the winning Women’s League team, $3,750.

What does it cost to enter?
A onetime payment of $150 per player. This payment will cover you for everything:
• Individual player nomination
• Game fees for all 10 weeks + finals
• Full uniform and over shirt in your team owners colours (you keep them forever)
• The opportunity to share in the winning prize money

And the best part is you will play every week both with and against your mates while matching up against the best amateur basketballers in South-East Queensland.

Can it get any more exciting than that? OF COURSE IT CAN!

When does it start?
Sunday August 29th starting 10.00am at TSS (The Southport School). This day will involve a full day of scrimmaging amongst all of the registered players which will culminate with 80 men and 60 women being selected through a unique NBA style draft system.

How does the draft work?
Each team will have an official sponsor/owner who has pre-selected their coaching staff. The owners have the naming rights to their team and will in conjunction with their coaching staff select their team’s players in a snake style draft (whoever drafts last in the first round then drafts first in the next round) out of the pool of registered players until all teams have 10 players drafted. And in true NBA style a trade system will be open for all owners to utilise until the end of round 5. The ISL Committee will implement and oversee processes to ensure everything remains above board.

What are the game times and season schedule?
The regular season will begin Sunday September 5th and games will continue on every following Sunday for the next 10 weeks at TSS. Games will be scheduled for 4.00pm, 5.20pm, 6.40pm and 8.00pm. All games will be fully timed 10-minute quarters with three qualified scoretable officials and three high level referees controlling each game.

Could there still be more?
In addition to all of the above:
- The Grand Finals for both Men’s and Women’s competition will be played as curtain raisers to Gold Coast Blaze home games.
- An All-Star 5 and Season MVP will be announced in both leagues on the evening of their Grand Final. All award winners will win great prizes.
- There will be a free BBQ every week for all players with a licensed bar selling competitively priced beverages.

How do I register to be a player in the ISL?
It is as simple as paying your $150 before Sunday August 29th and submitting a registration form (go to www.goldcoast.basketball.net.au (http://www.goldcoast.basketball.net.au) for a registration form) to the GCCRBA Office. Payments can be made by the following methods:
1. Direct Bank Transfer - Account Name: GCCRBA, BSB: 124086, Account Number: 10205665 * Please use reference: ISL + your name
2. Credit Card – Please call the GCCRBA Office on (07) 5594 4108 to make a credit card payment
3. Pay in Person (cash/eft/credit/cheque) – Pay directly to the GCCRBA Office or pay Big Joe (TSS court controller) on any Tue/Wed night at TSS.
4. Send a Cheque – Addressed to: Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association. The postal address is: PO Box 3311, Nerang, QLD, 4211.

All players who are not selected in the ISL draft will be refunded $130 before they go home on Sunday 29th of August. So, worst case scenario is that you come and have a great day of basketball, scrimmage with the best basketballers around, enjoy a BBQ and experience the atmosphere of the first ever ISL draft. All of this will set you back only $20.

Registration/draft numbers are limited to 150 men and 100 women.

Only 4 weeks away until the draft (Sunday 29th August). Players have to pre-register to be eligable for the draft....so don't miss out!

ISL already has some top players who have registered. Thalo Green, Jason Aucoin, Huey Robertson, Toby Zaremba, Peter Hill are a few of the names of the top of my head who are planning on playing in the men's. Can't think (too late at night) on the women's side but also have drawn good interest from some quality players.

A few of the up and coming junior players (boys and girls) and some of the top vets have or intend to nominate. A few topline coaches are a part of it as well (Good rumour has it that Joey Wright is also involved as a coach for one of the teams).

Interest has spread pretty quickly with two of the owners of the teams coming from Maroochydore and Ipswich, so will be players coming from all over South East Qld.

Some of the team owners include (again just off the the top of my head): 102.9 Hot Tomato, Terry White Chemist, Aussie Home Loans, Harvey World Travel, Formia, Celtics, First National, Scouts QLD, Gullotas Orthodontics, Frequency 3.....

To register simply go to the www.goldcoast.basketball.net.au (http://www.goldcoast.basketball.net.au) website and open the main neews real ISL page and the rego instructions are there. Or call Gold Coast Basketball on (07) 5594 4108

It is just $150 to play in a minimum of 10 games, you get a uniform to keep and have an opportunity to share in some of the $8,750 prizemoney on offer. And that is not even taking into account you will get to be a part of a whole new concept and their are some social events also planned for each Sunday.
