Game of the weekend.
These 2 teams had everything going for it. Spartans had height and skill. South West had speed and endurance. It went into double overtime with SW Pirates pulling through in the later half of the second overtime.
What made this game 'pumping' was not only the coaches or players but also the support received from the spectators.. The South West U12 Girls were seen all in Purple 'boosting' their boys. The Spartan Girls could be heard from above trying to get their boys over the line. Mums and Dads were losing voices from cheering and chanting. It was really an awesome atmosphere.
Well Done everyone, true spirit of the Game....

It should be a great grand final on neutral court: SD's bigs and strength v BBI's speed and scoring punch

It's not the coach who stepped down but the Assistant coach and it was for personal reasons.

my name is john, i feel blessed to be the SD coach of 10 great kids contesting the under12s BQJBC.
Although i have found the chinese whispers entertaining here are some facts about some recent comments.
my assistant coach did step down, the reasons are for him to say, if he wishes and not for me or anyone else to speculate.
i also want to address an urban(South west) myth regarding me poaching players form other associations.
5 of my current team played for me in the southern cup last year.
2 others were in the SD premier league team last year.
1 of my players had not played organised basketball prior to this season, i found him playing school yard basketball 4 weeks prior to season start.
1 other boy was at SD for years and moved to Brisbane for a season for personal reason and returned.
1 boy came form South west where i was his first coach and continued to coach him for about 2 years until late 2008. 2 years later he came to SD.
it is a great comp this year lets not deminish it by talking crap. all involved should embrace it and wonder at some of the skills these young athletes are showing.

Shame the coach is now benching the son of the assistant coach who stood down though who happens to be the best shooter on the team - defence is great but points are required too.

I appreciate that someone is trying to look out for my son but please don't do it on here as he has been through enough this season. Thanks

my understanding was that SD won, so a required amount of points were scored. so where is the issue?

From what I can see, there are three full successful SD teams this year. This is a much better result than last year, with players dropping out and leaving the sport entirely.
The main problem with "junior" basketball is the 'grown-ups'. (Which in some cases is a bit of a stretch.)

So who's the favourites for classics in this grade?

This age group is pretty close. Obviously from the BQJBC results the standouts were the caps and spartans however quite a few teams came close to beating them this season.
I think for Classics nothing can be taken from BQJBC, anyone can beat anyone on the day, it depends on how teams play on the day, really this title is anyones.
What are you doing on the school holidays?
Why not attend the “Become a Baller Camp” with the Gold Coast Blaze and Northside Wizards.

Meet your favourite Blaze players, compete against QBL players in competitions, and learn from professional coaches over this action packed live-in camp.
All details are listed on the flier which can be found at www.northsidewizards.basketball.net.au .
Tell your team members, parents, school friends, and anyone else that may be interested in attending. Email development@northsidewizards.com for more information or to register.
