Were you actually there? Not what I saw ....I love the way people make comments on this site and it is doubtful they even saw the game.
The boys did a good job against much older/wiser/ comp as their first time playing as a team.
The moderator needs to keep this site positive not a negative vehicle for parents of boys who didn't make the team to bag them
Just read your comment little confused why you wrote this no one was bagging anyone from what I could see

Agree that the reply was overly defensive...........maybe a touchy subject? Not everyone will agree with the selection, some opinions that have been posted are valid and warranted, some not. But opinions, comments and observations come with the territory at this level. The writer may submit them as genuinely constructive observations whilst the reader may interpret them negatively and deem them destructive comments. It's all in the interpretation...... and the intent can sometimes get lost in translation.

Looking back at this forum the comments here are sought of funny. The suggestions of some people (obviously parents and players) on who was going to make that state team was not even close. For example the point guard position, basically everyone said Nelson Larkins, Seb Windsor or Matthew Bartlett were going to make the state team and it ended up being Jesse Lomax and Stanly Morris. But I would like to say that I have only seen 1 disappointing comment on the state coaches decision on the team which is pleasing to see. I think its fair to say...just leave it to the state coaches for their decision.

True.....suggestions not close on some positions, i.e. out of all the previous posts re possible state selection at the 1 spot Morris hit 35% and Lomax 15%. Only four players scored 100% on all previous posts re possible state selection, McVeigh, Matatuhi, Kochner & Morgan, with O’Sullivan and Wray scoring 80%.

25 more days till the boys fly over to kilsyth, victoria. Must be an exciting time for them, wish them all the best and hopefully they will bring home a medal.
As the boys are suiting up for nationals has anyone seen these boys play or train. Any standouts? Any opinion of all of these players and positions?

Nice try, you have no idea what is done anywhere, so don't pretend you do. Everyone, everywhere measures their basketball players in their shoes. What's with the boxing comparison? You really got NO idea!!
You never measure in shoes!! You don't weigh in clothes!!

I was in Perth on Friday at the Boomers vs China match. The WA metro squad played beforehand. They do have some bigs, despite what is said in the above post. However there inside skill levels didn't appear strong. They did have some really quick guards with good ball movement, however The most important point I noted was the outside shoooting ( both long 2 and 3's was very poor) maybe 3 from 40 odd. A solid zone should force them to attempt these outside shots.
or maybe there some stage fright playing on the big stage in front of a crowd!!!!

5-8 good call..............Overall it looks like our boys stats stacked up reasonably well across the board except for a low 3pt average over 7 games of 16%. At national level and compared to Vic M at 34% & TAS, ACT & Qld Nth all at around 25% for the same number of games, its an area of weakness in an otherwise relatively solid team that needed to be addressed.

If I was a coach I wouldn't be happy at all with those averages and results over I certainly wouldn't be calling it solid

Hey but guess what- you are not the coach.
The boys have played really well and in their toughest game against NSW Metro they really gave it their all and only for a slow start they would have overrun them. There are very few if any super stars at these nationals just lots of good TEAM play. The QLD South boys have done themselves proud to play together as a team at this level. Great coaching Dave and Darren.
So now they play for 7-8th. Could have easily been 3-4 but sometimes the ball just don't bounce your way. Hardly a whisker between the 3rd-8th teams.

Get your facts straight. NO-ONE got rid of David. If you are going to make blanket statements about what happened last year, at least try the truth in stead of rumour and jealousy. Parents did not get rid of David, he stepped aside and no matter what you say you DO NOT know the details.

Mate you have no idea what goes on at Districts. Not happy walk with feet or get involved to change things. The only person in the crew named above that I know of that ever received some support was Tianna who Districts helped get a small scholarship from Leagues Club. Why be so down on a club that is just trying to raise the standard. If you are one of them and not happy as I said walk................ My guess they will not care. Cancer allowed to have oxygen only spreads is an old urban myth but your constant sniping suggests it is true. Take a breath and walk away doing everyone a favour.

You really are ranting as though you are a current player (parent most likely) that does not make the grade and blames everyone else for your failure to succeed. If you are not why care so much about what you know so little about. Oh thats right you are from a program not willing to do the extra yards so want every other club to drop to your standard and desire.

As a new parent to Spartans, must admit impressed with the level of training in the UPS, dissappointed that the young guy running it isnt the coach. Asked around about the head coach, couldnt find out much, have had a look back and cant see that his record is that impressive. Why not give it to the guy that is running UPS he knows what he is doing and has had 8 weeks to look at the boys, whwereas the "head coach" has only been there a couple of times and taken notes on what the young guy is doing?????????????????? Maybe young guy can take a 3rd team.

Maybe everyone should just be happy there is a proper coach for all the SD teams in this age group and just stop whinging. You are most likely a parent and íts basketball not school you can't just say I don't want them. If you don't want them go somewhere else.
