Once again BQ have let this guy go BACK to the USA while we have final team selections for U 16 and the final preps for U 18's! No idea what Murry has on anyone at BQ HQ cause there has to be a reason this is allowed to happen time and time again. State teams and player development has ground to a standstill. Trevor and Dave Owens now run our Elite program, that's a total joke!! I also hear kids now have to pay fro this honor!! Once again BQ the laughing stock of BB in Aus.
Who else thought Burns showed his total arrogance and lack of class by his microphone hogging antics at the BQJBC finals. Really is that all BQ can offer up is Graham "look at me" Burns on the mic all day?? Surely a phone call to the Golden miced Neil HS and he could have brought some class to the event, instead we get Mr Limelight searching Burns, was disgraceful!!
Hopefully the rumours of a high flying Administrator from one of the large associations lining up to replace Burns is spot on. We need change at the top, and this woman would be just the one to do it!! would be surprised if they break the old boys club do not hold your breath GB has got away with doing nothing for a long time don't expect it to change any time soon

It's nice to see defence get a mention on here, Steve F is tough. V has to be one of the hardest working kids on the Wizards and a big part of their winning.

Murry has resigned effective from last Friday!
April Fools day?
ALL MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS
I wish to inform you that Murry Aldred, Basketball Queensland Player and Coach Development Manager has resigned from BQ. I wanted to acknowledge Murry’s significant contribution to the program and wish him success in the future.
We are now seeking a person to fill this position. Due to the fact that we are about to undertake a review of our Competitions and Development Pathways we have decided to appoint someone in this role on a temporary contract which would expire in November 2011. At this time the review will be completed and we will be in a better position to appoint someone permanently.
I also want to let you know that we are in the process of reviewing all tenders received for the Competition and Development Pathways Review. Appointment of a consultant to conduct this review is imminent and I hope to be able to make an announcement shortly.

Believe quality assurance became an issue with the NCAS when Murrays brother mysteriously got a level 2. Bloke had never coached any higher than u/14 girls local club or Div 2/3.

How stacked was this team. Take out 2 state level point guards because of sickness and what's left? Another state level point guard and a bench that still went way deep. Name another team that can do that. How good were Cairns on the first day and how little was left in the end and to think Cairns could have eliminated BBI if it had lost to GC by 11 points ( and maybe rested some players too). Wizards were lucky to get second after loosing to Ippy. Ippy easily the biggest suprise of the season only team they couldn't catch was BBI.

Yeah but what the point losing to GC when cairns wanted their revenge on brisbane from under 16s ??

Who is number 6 for Northside? Kid is one step ahead of everything that happens. See that loose ball he fell on and kept alive by "crawling" over it on his hands and feet till he could scoop it up and dribble out? Seemed to keep finding ways to get to the rim and/or find the open man. Played hard n done good.

BBI worked hard this season to get to where they ended up. Wizards spanked them twice during the regular season & GC gave them a touch up as well, but they learnt from those games & were simply too good in the end.
Don't think Ippy were really a surprise, they are always tough & seem to play good team ball & deserved their bronze.
Fail to see how wizards were 'lucky' though... they were the most dominant team in the south all season & proved too strong for the heavily favoured Cairns in the semi. BBI outplayed them in the final, but it was definitely the two most deserving & strongest teams in the final.

If GC had a bit more in the tank and beaten Cairns by enough in their overtime game BBI would not have even been in the top 4. I'd say that was lucky.

GC finished 8th, why is anyone even talking about them? They lost more games than they won, that makes them also rans. Only Gaylord Folker gets a ribbon for eighth place!! ha ha ha

yeah ippy beat us in the pool round. Cairns beat bbi in the pool round too, were they lucky? Both teams eliminated the team that finished first in the other pool.
as for gc, they only had to win by a point and they were top 4, so they weren't necessarily also rans. yes they lost their best two bigs before the OT against cairns and it obviously hurt the rest of their games.
I think the final did have the two best teams in it, and credit where it is due, Bris did the job... and got the deserved reward.

LOCAL JUNIORS MAKE AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR SQUADS
Southern Districts Basketball Association, based at the Clem Jones Youth centre is proud to announce the selection of Cade Towers and Tiana Mangkahia to the Australian under 17 squads. They will now both attend the final team selection trials in Canberra at the AIS.
Cade, who first played at age of twelve in the junior Spartans under 14 team, was selected late last year at the age of 15 to attend the Australian Institute Sport, rewarding his total commitment to basketball.
“I have never known a young man so focused on doing what is needed to get to where he wanted to be” offered Spartans General Manager, Allan Ladewig. “Both on and off the court he listens and works hard”.
As a member of the junior Lady Spartans program, Tiana has been a part of every representative team she has ever tried out for.
Ladewig went on to offer “I first saw her in mini-ball and she stood out then. Again a young person who is committed to doing whatever it takes. This is a fitting reward to both Tiana and her family who work so hard within the community”.
“The success of these fine young Australians is testament to the great coaching staff we have here at Southern Districts Basketball Association and I am sure these young players would be the first to acknowledge that. Every one is so proud of them both”.

Ironic!!
This year the schools coaches picked a better team than BQ.
Throw Mikaela Donnely in with this lot and you have a team that would have won gold instead of silver.

Top ranked by who?
Top ranked by the National selectors is probably the AIS scholarships list + the U/19 and U/17 World Championships squads.
Top ranked by those making a buck from gullible parents promising "college" spots see one of the 'tour' companies and their local representative
Top ranked by parents see bendoes.
