Purpose-built for discussion.

Looks like State High first, TSS second and IGS a respectable third at this stage.

yah tss should win in the 2nds competition
beating all the powerhouse schools so far.

authough nothing can be said for sure after all churchie gave them a run for there money if it wasnt for some quick thinking and some great shots hit by a couple of players.

and for the firsts
good competition between the top 3
tss are probly wishing that gt beat bshs to get the tied first place making it the best season ever

A Massive Game this Week. BSHS @ IGS!!

The Winner is almost guranteed A Premiership (provided they take care of business in the final game for IGS and the final 2 for BSHS.)

BSHS def Ippy by about 20.

it was by 11 mate, very good game. slip in concentration by igs in the 2nd was the only thing that made this final score look so onesided

I really think GT was the second best team this year. They should of won against both ippi and tss. Both games were decided in the last minute. If only their starters could stay on the court...

GT 33 d ACGS 24

what a low scoreing game

how can u say they are 2nd best team and they only score 33 points in a game

Are you serious kid? Ippy and TSS are on another level when compared with GT. Ippy didn't play well at all against gt as it was the first away game and its always hard gettin a win @ gt, but igs still won despite this. TSS are jst too gud for GT as well. They don't have the players and aren't well drilled. (It kinda shows when they play zone the whole game) The season panned out justly, sure, in some games team could have and maybe should have got up. Personally i thought bgs were unluky 2 win more games and thought that tss were unluky to lose 2 bshs after that close game. Gt are alright but all i'm saying is that they were definitly not a top 3 side.

must be joking
dosnt matter if you blow them out in the first quarter or win in the last second
a win is a win
nomatter what way you look at it
wherever teams came this year
they deserved it
if you think u should be higher in the list

Unregistered

yes sounds correct

nc wata improvement from 2 wins since 2003 to the chance of coming 4th
should be a cracker of a game this week NC v GT at NC

Unregistered
26-10-07, 23:35
yeah, well said. Should beat terrace on home for last game. Think NC have done pretty well this year, with only a couple of year 12 kids, the rest are year 11 and 10. Maybe one of the teams to watch next year!

Unregistered

gt were never in doubt of losing that game.. ever... not even before the game

they ended up winning by like 25 or something

nudgee did play well this year and deserve some congratualtions.. they will be a solid team for the next few years

terrace deserved 4th.. no matter what people say about ippy and tss n shit...

they could have won both of those games.. but in the end ippy and tss were too good.. so it all ended up as it should have..

Unregistered

Terrace had a decent team this year no doubt, but stop saying you could have beat IGS and TSS, you didn't, you lost both games, TSS and IGS are a level above GT and BSHS is a level above TSS and IGS. Every team deserved the position they finished. In 2008, it will be BSHS, TSS and IGS fighting it out for the premiership.

Will be interesting to see how Churchie go with Bruce Palmer in charge of the 1sts and the majority of the team moving up in age and maturity into Year 12.

oh and churchie have peter marinos. i wonder what bruce can do with him..

Southport will dominate this season and should go through undefeated with Ipswich second and BSHS third.

Southport will dominate this season and should go through undefeated with Ipswich second and BSHS third.

let the trast talk begin..

2008 will be one of the better gps seasons over the past few years ( becaue over the past 2 years bshs has just dominated to say the least) this year

ippy will have a good 3 with marc matt and denzel, i expect matt to be the most dominating player this season due to his hieght, the guy from tss is tall but matt is just plan better than him so he has that coverd, the guards at igs ill be good with marc and denzel again good for 15pts a game each, with matty getting 20. the thing that may stuff them up is there teamwork within the group there coach has to get them working as a teama

bshs will always be in the hunt to get there 3rd in a row, they have a small team, but if u look at the guards they by far have the best guards in the comp with andy, tom and some kid called scott willis who without a doubt is the top 2 players in rep if not the best, the boy can shoot it, i wouldnt be suprised if they win, but i have no clue how they are gonna rebound, i expect them to have a team of 8 rep players with some in grade 10 getting minutes as they dominate there age groups..

tss will b ok, but they are going to have to play some man defence sometime this year because over the past 3 years all they have done is sat in a zone in every game and it has gotten them 2 2nd places, i would think if they sit in a zone it wouldnt b good against ippy with big matty able to shoot the 3, and i will b suprised if they sit in a zone all game against bshs because scott willis will go for 40 because all he does is shoot the 3, they have the most rounded team in the comp tss with solid gaurds anf big and a good group of young kids coming through..

my pick..... a tie between bshs and ippy.. as in they will both lose one game and tss will choke in a game against someone, but hey just my prediction

TSS will be a solid unit with the advantage of the competitions best coach.

Ipswich with the M&M's (Mark & Matt) are the favourites before the competition begins.

Nudgee with Bruce Palmer as coach will surprise all comers.

BSHS have no gigs and will rely on outside shooting from their guards. Their chances will depend largely on whether or not their coaching staff can deliver the goods.

There will be a few surprises this year - some teams have recuited players that didnt play in brisbane last year a long with coaches

Its just a warning because im one of them - BSHS are too soft to win, they crack a bit too much under pressure. TSS should be good - and Churchie is just a bit too underdeveloped for my liking. Terrace might be good - but with lack of coaching its doubtful. Nudgee has little chance though they have some decent players. BBC is unknown - they have a few good underage players. toowoomba doesnt even register. Grammar is the same. I went to a game for each team last year and saw no real stand outs.

It should be a good year for basketball as there are no real dominate forces - TSS, BSHS, Churchie, Terrace and maybe BBC are all in with a chance. It will really depend on the day that each team plays each other.

What are peoples thoughts on each team?

Unregistered

In response to above.

TSS will be good as always same with BSHS

Don't know much of Terrace

Churchie might do well but i agree of the lack of age. Their big guy has anger management issues. Same with the entire BSHS team. Brock is out of GPS this year in case everyone else is slow.

BBC - i have no idea bout. Does anyone have any info on BBC or Terrace

Nudgee - They have a few good players if its the same as last year - Chris and Matt - but they arent all that great.

IPPY - you forgot to mention - Denzel and co will lead a strong team - They definately have a mixed team with forwards and guards - they will be a force to look out for.

Anyways, thats my 2 cents,

Whats everyone else's thoughts - Especially on BBC and Terrace cause i havent heard much about them. Last year, BBC failed in the rankings - Will this be the same? and All the comments from last year talk about Terrace but i saw nothing special in them?

Just looking for other thoughts.

Okay, Tss will be good, dont get me wrong, they may even win it,
but what is the deal with everyone saying that they are unbeatable.

Ipswich definatly have the best "Big 3" in the league with Matt, Marc and Denzel, and churchie have louis (sorry if i spelt it wrong), Peter and all the other year 12 boys.

I am predicting that churchie are either going be awesome or crack under Bruce Palmer.

BBC has thos 2 year 11 kids, both with some pretty decent moves.

TGS and BGS are not really anyone to watch, maybe 3 decent kids between the 2 teams

Nudgee have got that tall red headed kid, i was at the game and watched him rip up state high last year, if only he had someone else to back him up in the gaurds department.....

State high have lost all of their decent players except andy, they will be a team who depend on him.

Terrace havent got anyone by memory, maybe that tall kid from under 16's in 2007 is alright, but should be shut down by Tss, Ippy, NC and Churchies bigs.

thats my thoughts on the teams, tell me yours............

state high wont be as aggressive or too hard if your in the top 3-4 already,

churchy seems average this year, no outstanding players and their number 15 is an angry tard who needs to learn to box out and rebound without being a cheap player

BBC doesnt have much from what i hear, just their two underage guards who played firsts last year, they'll do most of their work inc. rebounds probabily, small team in height.
versing TGS will be more like a practice round with some free comp points,
same with BGS, no outstanding players from memory

as for the nudgee redhead he has his good days and others where he cant do much.

Terrace from memory were aggressive tho no1 stands out in particular, i think most of their team are rugby douche's cause i remember one guy trying to shoulder me a few times last year,

going 2 be an intresting year to see who steps up and which teams put in the effort. some shouldnt bother but yeah, see how it unfolds =)

Good luck to all :P tho, my team will be taking the comp hands down.

bshs have some of the best guards in the state with andy chen, scott willis, tom laycock, ethan gameron and wez phillips. have 1 tall guy who is 6'8 who is not bad has played the 2 years.. a couple of really good junior guards too in alex watson and argon afuzi?? they should both make under 16 state this year.

i reckon they will go alright provided a couple of the 7 players named shoot well, and get as many rebounds as possible.

will still be a tougher year for them compared to previous years.

any thoughts?
